Going back to an earlier shot to try to get it better.
Brighter yes...better...hmm...maybe.
Also, appears this was an afternoon for red, which is fine.
Transmitted and reflected light.
Bulb drilled open with Dremel and diamond bit.
Filled with good old di-hydrogen oxide. And hit with a pellet.
After correcting for white balance, these sepia tones resulted.
Cheers.
Having swiftly dealt with the steep gradients outside Moe, R761 and R707 push hard through the coal-rich region of Morwell.
Born to race cars, Speed Racer (Emile Hirsch) is aggressive, instinctive and, most of all, fearless. His only real competition is the memory of the brother he idolized—the legendary Rex Racer, whose death in a race has left behind a legacy that Speed is driven to fulfill. Speed is loyal to the family racing business, led by his father, Pops Racer (John Goodman), the designer of Speed’s thundering Mach 5. When Speed turns down a lucrative and tempting offer from Royalton Industries, he not only infuriates the company’s maniacal owner (Roger Allam) but uncovers a terrible secret—some of the biggest races are being fixed by a handful of ruthless moguls who manipulate the top drivers to boost profits. If Speed won’t drive for Royalton, Royalton will see to it that the Mach 5 never crosses another finish line. The only way for Speed to save his family’s business and the sport he loves is to beat Royalton at his own game. With the support of his family and his loyal girlfriend, Trixie (Christina Ricci), Speed teams with his one-time rival—the mysterious Racer X (Matthew Fox)—to win the race that had taken his brother’s life: the death-defying, cross-country rally known as The Crucible.

Long time ago I found a pair of safety goggles by the side of the road. One side was scratched up and I already have two pair, so I put them aside for a target.
Tonight was glasses night. I am glad to report that safety goggles really do work. You can see the impact ding and the pellet sliding along the edge.
Impressive.
My initials at the moment of impact. Kind of dull, but the distortion of the middle wooden block is interesting.
It was fairly hard to spell anything because my earlier shots have dis-envoweled my small block collection.
Hah, a pun.
My grandfather's Speed Graphic. I believe this would be the Pacemaker model. He says that the shutter speed is a little off and needs adjustment. The whole thing is sort of intimidating...

Triumph Speed Triple (2000-01) Engine 955cc
The Triumph Speed Triple is a series of motorcycles first introduced in 1994. This was essentially a modern sport bike or race replica motorcycle but without the aerodynamic plastic fairing.. The new Speed Triple was based on the new Triumph Triple series of modular engines, which also powered the standard Trident, Daytona sport bike, and the Thunderbird retro bike. This engine came in two displacements as a triple: 750 cc for some European markets, and 885 cc for all other markets.
Following the end of the T309 run of Speed Triples, Triumph released the first of its new generation of fuel injected sportbikes, the T509 Speed Triple. The new bike was a total redesign. While the all new engine still displaced 885 cc, it now produced a claimed 108 hp (81 kW) and was fitted with an engine management system by French company SAGEM. When the 1997 T509 Speed Triple received the 885 cc fuel injected engine, the Daytona received an upgraded 955 cc engine producing 130 hp.
For the years 2000 and 2001 the Speed Triple changed little other than cosmetically. The engine control unit was updated to the Sagem MC2000. Both the Speed Triple and the Daytona came to be referred to as 955i bikes.

Ok.....so I got drops to crash together but I can't get them into focus. I need 1/10,000 of a second of light, calm water and a consistant 10 drops per second. I've used sandwich bags, rubber gloves & for this one a water bottle with holes drilled in the top & bottom.
This experiment is driving me nuts so I'm giving it a break for a day to clear my head.
when i got this bike about 5 years ago, it had matching green fenders, cottered cranks, those 70s rubber-block type pedals, crappy wheels, and it was in mint condtion, basically a 'new old stock' bike. it looked like it could have been a prize on The Price is Right. FF to 2008–i've beat it up so much and worn out nearly every original part, i thought i would just give it away.
yesterday i finally gave it some needed mechanical attention, and made it a single-speed/fixed gear bike. now, i can't get off the thing. the frame is too small for me, but whatevers...so much fun!
UPDATE June '09: This Bike is For Sale. Get in now!
Wiccan in the red cape and Speed. One hero is gay and one hero is straight. Just like these two brothers in real life.

I had fun photographing tree swallows in flight at John Heinz NWR. Needless to say I have a very large discard rate with this type of photography.

This is the first try with a super simple stereo set-up.
It worked pretty well as far as I can tell.
Two Canon G6 cameras, one from Ebay, the other borrowed from a friend. Mounted on some aluminum flat stock, flipped. The two cameras are on uprights that are adjustable by means of some very powerful NIB magnets.
The exposure is a bit of a dance, time set to 4 seconds, press both shutters and then reach over and fire the rifle.
It worked both times. This was the second.
Microsecond stereo. Kind of cool.
qpkarl gets the blame for finally getting me to try it.
By the way, does anyone know if you can selectively allow access to higher resolution pictures on Flickr?
In other words, I would like to allow access to my high res files on some pictures, but not on others. As far as I can tell, it's all one way or another.
And animated .gif files. I'd like to include some, but can't quite get the rules.
Cheers.
Here is a 9/16" flex socket with a 1/4" driver handle . . . .what's the secret ?
The socket has an earth magnet in the bottom. Your edger bolt stays seated in the socket, waiting
to be easily replaced.
