A shooting session plagued by misfires. It happens.
I did one of these Christmas bulbs filled with flour and it looked promising and then spent the next hour with misfires.
Who knows why, but I persisted and finally got what I wanted.
And now if I could just find my old Barbie doll. I've got a great idea for another shot.
Its windy today, my least favorite weather the Santa Anna winds. At least they are not too hot and all the recent rain has made the hills a little harder to ignite.

Juste 2 flash et un caisson de basse utilisé en basses fréquences.
I happened to look at this display this evening, it shows my average speed since I reset the mileage recorder. Eighteen miles per hour over the last 1,392 miles !
It is salutary to reflect that a good cyclist could achieve a similar average speed over that distance.
This is more of a modification as opposed to a MOC. I took the original Lego official set "75901 Flash Speeder" and modified the rear to remove the awful stud shooters and rework the cannon. The Lego original was a solid and well-designed set however. I wish I would have picked up a few more of them while they were plentiful.

The Firehouse Restaurant in Venice was a location used for the 1994 movie "Speed" (top). As the bus driver pulls away from the Firehouse, the bomber (Dennis Hopper) blows it up.
A friend picked up a really nice Miniature Speed Graphic for me at a yard sale for $10. The format is 2x3 but it has a Graflex 120 film back. It's in really great shape and I'm looking forward to shooting with it. I might convert it to a pinhole for my next project.

The main flash did not fire, giving this a more moody look. This happened twice, so I may have a trend going on.
Last night I rewired my "failed" flash circuit to an old style Maxwell cap and let it run.
2200 flashes over the course of the day and it was still running strong. My latest flash tube seems to be very rugged. I have cleaned it once and it is still going after over 6000 flashes.
They are such good caps. I checked recently and found new ones are 700$, so 100$ for the used versions is a great deal.

Anniversary Speed Graphic circa 1940-46. My first true large 4x5 format camera. All black unit with Vulcanoid case (pretty solid) & Kallart Synchro Rangefinder. Also with Heiland Flash (not Luke Skywalkers's). With 250mm Wollensak f5.6 with Rapax shutter. DIY lens board. Weighed in at around 5kgs including the film holder and flash unit. It still looks like it will last another 70 years.
