We've had a lot of rain, so this location I had earmarked for this shoot was on its way to a bog like state, but what a great day for a shoot with good strong light to play against. So much good light, that even under this canopy, a 500th was needed to bring the background under control. Despite the light, October is pushing it for outdoor shoots and both Joanna and I started to feel that cooling air. Yikes, here comes Winter!

Core Tech Co. has just produced the newest and most luxurious land speeder made on this side of the galaxy. The Galactic Speeder Show gives a first look at the VC-10, complete with an introduction speech from the podium.
Recent experimentation with slow shutter speed. This set of pictures is inspired by the idea of old school aliens and hypnoses, reminiscent of 1960s sci fi films. I asked the subject to rotate the green light in a spiral and intended to capture the effect of a torch light 'halo' behind her hair, i was interested in how slow shutter speed would pick this up. I decided to make a triptych out of these images as i felt each added a different cosmic aspect and they compliment each other and the theme, even though the middle one was a happy accident caused by picking up someones camera taking a light reading. I used a tripod to keep the camera steady.
I realized recently that, for all the American classics I've done, I had only built one Buick! I also had not yet built a car in Medium Azure. This build ticks both boxes. It's also the first model of mine to utilize the new 1 x 1 x 2/3 SNOT element introduced in the 2023 Speed Champions sets, which came in really handy to solve a couple problems here.
Also, it's weird how poorly those Aston Martin wheels photograph. They look gorgeous in person, but uncanny and fake in photos. I think it's because your eye focuses more on the physical details of the mold when they're presented still and close-up like this.
Warehouse District, Austin, TX
This is another image from the Flickrwalk last Saturday. This modified Corvette was parked in the Warehouse District in downtown Austin. The Warehouse District is where the late 20s and 30+ crowd goes for night life in downtown Austin. The famous 6th street is frequented more by the college crowd and tourists these days.
I generally process my HDRs lightly, I believe, however, I thought that this image would work well with some heavier than normal HDR processing. What do you think?

I'm really happy with my army speeder and wanted to try a 'big boy miniaturist' small vignette with it. Having mixed feelings about it but decided to uploaded it anyway. The yellow trolley looks great as a standalone but the Speeder and it don't really 'blend'.
Canon 7 with 50mm 0.95 Lens & Konica SR-G 3200 ISO speed film!
Konica SR-G 3200 (1989)
The fastest film I have ever purchased. I used it for astrophotography with my Minolta SR-7 mounted to a telescope. Also for some night time available light around Paris France. This is my final roll, unexposed, and way out of date!
Canon 7 (1961)
Fast optics were much more important in the 60's than they are today. ASA (ISO in today's speak) speed of 100 was considered "fast" and films beyond ASA 200 were expensive, very grainy, and not easy to come by. ASA 25 and 50 were the normal films so you can see why a fast lens made such a difference back then!
The Canon7 and Dream lens is still a very popular combination even all these years later.
I won't pretend that it gives me consistent spectacular results (like my 70-200 f4 on my 5Dmk2) but it sure is at the top of my list of fun cameras!
It is very joyous to take it out and consider the possibilities the lens makes available, and to take the time to attempt to make the possibilities a reality!
It is great to see these lenses making their way into the digital world as well. Many have been adapted to the micro 4/3 system and the Leica M digitalis. This seems an ideal platform for the 0.95 since it is a challenge to get consistent results with the time limitations of film. A digital 0.95 would be an ideal learning platform, the instantaneous feedback digital provides would allow you to much better master this lens.
Back to the good ole' sunset pics.. Even though the sign is a "speed limit / no parking" sign, it really seems like a "Beware of sharks" sign. I took this picture right around "Shark Week" so maybe that's why.
Isolation is slowly lifting and I imagine people are taking advantage by going for a drive. The seacliff bridge in New South Wales is an iconic tourist road. Visited many times by us in the past. I thought it would be a nice place to drop lego speed model 76897
Have a great weekend.
A collection of warmup / leftover builds that didn't quite seem right for the LSB 2017 contest. I tried some custom stickering on these. Enjoy!!
The Lamborghini Diablo is a high-performance mid-engine sports car built by Italian automobile manufacturer Lamborghini between 1990 and 2001. It is the first production Lamborghini capable of attaining a top speed in excess of 320 kilometres per hour (200 mph).
It is a studless Lego model in the 8 studs wide Speed Champions scale. Building instructions and more info on the link:

This is a Tokaido Shinkansen (700 series) took this photo from Hamamatsucho Station. The Tokaido Shinkansen is a shinkansen line that connects Japan's three largest metropolitan areas (Tokyo/Yokohama, Nagoya and Osaka/Kyoto) with each other. The maximum operating speed is 270 km/h.

Another day and unexpectedly another speeder. Couldn’t help myself, is this procrastination or just another attempt at juggling multiple ideas!? I need to get back to the Stinger Mantis, as I feel so so close to finishing it now. ;)
