Jack "Cannonball" Taylor is the main driver for Royalton Industries, and is Speed's main rival in the Grand Prix (in the film). His car, the GRX, is equipped with an illegal spearhook device that can grab on to other cars. Speed ends up exposing the spearhook to race cameras, and Taylor is disqualified.
The GRX was one of my favorite designs from the film, and I think Lego did an especially poor job on their version, changing all of the colors (although I don't think any of their cars were all that good). I couldn't use purple, since many of the parts I wanted to use don't exist in that color, and since it would be far more expensive. I did, however, want to use gold instead of yellow.

The Tasmanian Devil is suitable for routes of a special kind. Its powerful 12 cell ion injection engine accelerates this massive vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds. In addition, this speeder has a plasma gun and a strong armor. In the sidecar are various spare parts to make repairs on the field to be done. Additional suspensions ensure that enough accessories can be carried along. All these qualities make the Tasmanian Devil the first choice In this race.
Two of our members tried out their high speed trains. The XPT (outer track) has custom electronics (11.1V Lipo battery and custom BT receiver). The bullet train (inner track) uses a Lego IR receiver.
I think the lap time was about 30 seconds. I estimate that a circuit of the layout is ~62m, giving a speed of 7 km/h. At 1:43 scale, the scale distance would be 2.7km. So that would give a scale speed of 300 km/h.

This is technically a V-19 SoroSuub Landspeeder and shows up in The Phantom Menace on Naboo for a very brief moment. I love attempting to re-create the lesser-known vehicles, since all the famous ones have many Lego renditions of their own. I chose this vehicle however due to the vibrant color. I had only a few of these "medium lavender" pieces, and thought "what can I build with this?". A couple of months later and 4 or 5 Bricklink orders and this thing emerged in all its lavender glory.

I found a little collection of completely mutant avacados last week during my bike ride.
They were red and bright green. And small.
I picked them up because they were on the ground, took them home a shot a few non-high speed pictures.
Today I decided to shoot a few to see what would happen. The first ideas looked fairly boring. Just for kicks, I set one up like this shot. It looked much better, so I shot a few more.
Contrast always wins in my limited photographic vision.

In late 2007 I was planning a diorama and accompanying story called "Sam Slick's Used Speeders", featuring a shady used-hovercar lot full of fun characters like the inept salesman who couldn't sell water in the desert, the smooth talking one who could sell ice to eskimos, the sleazy service department technicians who thought hovercar repair was the greatest moneymaking scam since televangelism, the various customers, and of course Sam Slick himself, a Cal Worthington type (you need to be an American West Coaster of a certain age to remember old Cal).
Then all these speeders I'd built got put in a drawer with some other WIPs when I moved in early 2008, and in that drawer they stayed, out of sight and mostly out of mind. Until very recently, rediscovered in the middle of the long slow process of getting my Lego collection into some semblance of order, so I can actually build stuff again.
The great irony of course is that being over a decade old, they'd work even better as "used speeders" now than they would have then, but that used hovercar lot is just never going to be built.

Night time at an abandoned homestead in Lucerne Valley, CA, in the Mojave Desert. I illuminated this scene on a quiet desert evening with a handheld ProtoMachines LED2 flashlight from several different angles during this long exposure image. I was particularly fascinated by the triangular framing, and wanted this image to have this visceral quality of the apex of the frame collapsing toward us.

This car was an amazing building experience. I rebuilt the thing multiple times and I must say, this is the most complicated car I've built yet. It features almost everything you could want from a car: seats for two persons, opening doors, dashboard, gear shift, mirrors, turn signals, exhausts, licence plates and a beautiful slim shape. Too bad I couldn't figure out how to put a roof on it, but I am happy anyway!

The Imperial Armored Speeder, which appears in Andor, is a small versatile speeder utilizes by the Empire to transport troops and weapons. While primarily depicted in a patrol and security role, it can also be used for light fire support of Imperial stormtroopers and infantry.
This model is approximately 1/45th scale and has room for two minifigures, one driver and one gunner. This model is the perfect scaled for anything from small to large MOCs while still being highly detailed and accurate.

Update to my Episode II speeder chase speeders. Zam's speeder is identical, but I smoothed out the sides of Anakin's and extended the engines, replacing them with some more interesting parts.
I'm still a bit unhappy with the side windows on Zam's and the headlights on Anakin's.
