05/08/2021 - Early morning, USNS CARSON CITY makes an impressive entry in the port of Le Havre #HAROPA. United States Navy - Military sealift command - Spearhead-class expeditionary fast transport (EPF) - Propulsion : 4 MTU 20V8000 M71L diesel engines & 4 ZF 60000NR2H reduction gears - Speed : 43 knots (80 km/h - 49 mph) - Builder AUSTAL shipyards, Mobile, Alabama, USA - 2016.
The speed limit for the Ohio Turnpike was 70 mph back in the 1960s... It became 70 mph again in 2011, after being 55 then later 65 for decades. I believe the road was also 75 mph for a brief time in the late 1960s or early 1970s.
Here is a map that I figured I would share. As some of you know, I do collect some maps. I decided to back up the maps digitally in case something unforeseen happens to them (such as fire). It also gives me a chance to share them online if anyone is interested. Some of the maps are more delicate so I will have to figure something else out for those ones.
This map is a 1966 version of the Ohio Turnpike map. It also shows other existing Interstate highways in the state of Ohio, planned interstates at the time, and the turnpikes that existed at the time in the Northeastern US.
The very steep track bank at the speedway at the start and finish line. So much racing history at this spot.

If you uninstall an Origin game, it'll just wipe out the folder. Screenshots and all. It's not friendly like Steam for example.
Just before ducking back into the trees, GLC 399 paces along the edge of Oak Grove Rd. south of Cohoctah, MI. I certainly do not condone taking pacing photos while driving and there is no possible way that I did this here, I'm not that crazy...
A police speeder that I just put together while playing around with techniques. I started off with the front end and I started losing interest at the rear tail. I'm also not a fan of that canopy ...it just ended up there
Jack "Cannonball" Taylor is the main driver for Royalton Industries, and is Speed's main rival in the Grand Prix (in the film). His car, the GRX, is equipped with an illegal spearhook device that can grab on to other cars. Speed ends up exposing the spearhook to race cameras, and Taylor is disqualified.
The GRX was one of my favorite designs from the film, and I think Lego did an especially poor job on their version, changing all of the colors (although I don't think any of their cars were all that good). I couldn't use purple, since many of the parts I wanted to use don't exist in that color, and since it would be far more expensive. I did, however, want to use gold instead of yellow.

Category : Vastland Cross
The Tasmanian Devil is suitable for routes of a special kind. Its powerful 12 cell ion injection engine accelerates this massive vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds. In addition, this speeder has a plasma gun and a strong armor. In the sidecar are various spare parts to make repairs on the field to be done. Additional suspensions ensure that enough accessories can be carried along. All these qualities make the Tasmanian Devil the first choice In this race.

Porsche Center, Stuttgart, Germany
This long exposure shot was taken in front of the Porsche headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany. It was a wonderful evening just after a storm passed by and revealed wonderful purple clouds in the sky.
Of course they are not purple in this picture but if you care to see how they looked like you might want to have a look at my photostream to see a few other shots from this series.
As far as the setup is concerned:
I used a 7d, tripod, 4seconds, f7.1 at 17mm and ISO 100.
And yes, some post processing...can you tell!? :)

In late 2007 I was planning a diorama and accompanying story called "Sam Slick's Used Speeders", featuring a shady used-hovercar lot full of fun characters like the inept salesman who couldn't sell water in the desert, the smooth talking one who could sell ice to eskimos, the sleazy service department technicians who thought hovercar repair was the greatest moneymaking scam since televangelism, the various customers, and of course Sam Slick himself, a Cal Worthington type (you need to be an American West Coaster of a certain age to remember old Cal).
Then all these speeders I'd built got put in a drawer with some other WIPs when I moved in early 2008, and in that drawer they stayed, out of sight and mostly out of mind. Until very recently, rediscovered in the middle of the long slow process of getting my Lego collection into some semblance of order, so I can actually build stuff again.
The great irony of course is that being over a decade old, they'd work even better as "used speeders" now than they would have then, but that used hovercar lot is just never going to be built.

This is my 17th year covering this fun festival filled with color and pageantry and beautiful people. Each year some of the regulars return and sometimes fresh new faces appear to join the eclectic Renaissance Family. Some are vendors or employees, and some customers dress up to fit in with the renaissance festival fun and its 16th century way of life. One big happy family of a few thousand escaping the dull drums of their daily life for a few hours. This year's crop of new faces was lovely. Hope you enjoy the images. I try to capture their joy. Always fun, festive, very colorful and exciting!

I put a bit of posterize effect into the image and ended up with this...
This car was an amazing building experience. I rebuilt the thing multiple times and I must say, this is the most complicated car I've built yet. It features almost everything you could want from a car: seats for two persons, opening doors, dashboard, gear shift, mirrors, turn signals, exhausts, licence plates and a beautiful slim shape. Too bad I couldn't figure out how to put a roof on it, but I am happy anyway!
