The English-language rights to Mach GoGoGo were acquired by syndicator Trans-Lux and Speed Racer premiered on American television in the summer of 1967. In the series, Speed's full name was Go Mifune, in homage to Japanese film star Toshiro Mifune. His name, Americanized, became Speed Racer. His adventures centered on his powerful Mach 5 car, his girlfriend Trixie, his little brother Spritle, Spritle's pet chimpanzee Chim-Chim, and his mysterious older brother, Racer X, whose real name was Rex Racer.

This view was taken on the Docklands Light Railway as the train was in the tunnel which takes it under the Thames. The railway is automatic, no driver except a supervisor who sits in one of the front passenger seats. This gives a great opportunity as there are passenger seats at the front and back of the train. I put the camera lens flat against the window to cut out reflections. This shot was taken from the back as the train was leaving the Island Gardens Station on the North Bank.
I took a lot of pictures and settled on a shutter speed of 0.8 seconds for the best feel of movement.
The picture was taken with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20 wide angle zoom at 10mm. Taken handheld in RAW. The image was opened in Camera Raw and 2 additional images were created at =2EV and -2Ev for a âfalse HDRâ
Outputted in Photomatix to contast optimiser for a natural look for an HDR. Topaz adjust clarity setting was used. I also used Topaz deNoise and Topaz clean with masks to deal with low light noise in some areas. A selection was made with the pen tool for the selective colour of the yellow line. Mono conversion was done with a Photoshop adjustment layer.

Speed!!! :-)))))) Perfect follow up to a bird shot!
So, a lot of you commented on my "WhatTheFlickr" post, and it seems that for the most part Flickr being listed on the Yahoo home page was very much dependent on where you are located. Everyone in the US confirmed that it was not on the home page, and it seemed to be gone from some of the UK, but present for some of you in (no particular order) Ireland, Germany, Austria, Canada and Australia. The one thought everyone shared was a very poor opinion of Yahoo, and a wish for Flickr to wind up in more attentive and caring hands.
Anyway, I find it very depressing that Flickr is not being pushed more aggressively here in the States, as it worries me that it is being set up to fail, or not being given enough room to succeed.
Thanks everyone for chiming in and providing feedback, it is very much appreciated. And I do not say it often, but let me say it now, I am so thankful to have such a great group of people to interact with. You are all so talented, nice and supportive, a big thank you to all of you for that!!!

A Canada Goose stays within the speed limit on a city street in Henry, IL last April when spring flood waters invaded many residential communities along the Illinois River.
Another photo from the Hong Kong tunnel taken from the second deck of a double decker bus. We obviously hit a bump durign the taking of the photo but I think it still gives an interesting effect. Details: f3.2 for 2 seconds. Another photo taken a short while later without the bump.

Pilots use instumentation to avoid areas of high pressure which cause crystalization of nitrogen and methane gas in the atmosphere. These 'gasbergs' have been the cause of many devestating collisions.
When fired, the boosters ignite atmospheric xenon-nitrogen, producing distinctive green contrails.

Overflying Milan, on our way to Moscow for an overnight flight. Photo taken at 1 o'clock at night. I had no tripod, so the only solution was to place the camera on the dashboard and hit the shutter button, and bump the ISO up a little bit. I will try to bring the tripod with me next time, so I can try out different angles.

The nicely preserved Milwaukee Road depot at Winneconne, Wisconsin sits tranquilly on a snowy evening along with various artifacts including a speeder.
The depot served its namesake town at the end of a branch from Ripon from 1860 (as a previous incarnation; the current structure was built sometime later) until 1973 when the branch was abandoned. Passenger service was never very intensive, given the minor importance of the branch, and the last was in the form of a mixed train in 1951.
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is an annual hill climb featuring historic motor racing vehicles held in the grounds of Goodwood House, West Sussex, England in late June or early July; the event is scheduled to avoid clashing with the Formula One season, enabling fans to see F1 machines as well as cars and motorbikes from motor racing history climb the hill.
In the early years of the Festival, tens of thousands attended over the weekend; as of 2014 it attracts crowds of around 100,000 on each of the three days it is now held. A record crowd of 158,000 attended in 2003, before an advance-ticket-only admission policy came into force; attendance was subsequently capped at 150,000.
Not sure, but I believe this is a speed selector...the handle slides side to side to engage either the larger, or smaller sprocket. Here it's engaged to the large one. Seen at the National Museum of Industrial History.

Possibly the biggest, baddest, most bulbous speeder bike to emerge from the drawing boards of Llwyngwril Systems. The Turbinia was based around a massive turbine.
Centuries later, all the evidence left for its existence are these four archive photos. They leave many questions unanswered:
Was the giant turbine some form of centrifugal compressor? If so, were did the all of air go? The nozzles on the rear of the bike are quite small.
As the turbine made up a considerable part of the mass of the speeder bike and was effectively a large gyroscope, how the Turbinia generate enough turning force to manoeuvre?
How did the pilot get up to the cockpit?
The mechanics of the anti-gravity systems needed for the Turbinia to hover are, of course, simple and well known.
On April 28, 2006, I rode a Speeder from Cordele to Plains, Georgia on a trip sponsored by NARCOA (aka North American Rail Car Owners Association). Since I don't own a Motor Car (aka: Speeder), I rode with a friend who owns two Motor Cars. These are some photos that I took during my trip on the Heart of Georgia Railroad.
These Eleven Photographs show the some of the Speeders which were left idle on the tracks while everyone went to the center of town for Lunch. After Lunch everyone returned to their respective Speeder for the Trip back to Cordele, Georgia from Plains, Georgia.
