Good night of wool burning and light painting with My mate Jonathan last night. Set up at this bridge and waited about 15 mins for a train to pass, caught by surprise by the first one but luckily 5 mins later a 125 came past and we managed to catch this.

Not sure, but I believe this is a speed selector...the handle slides side to side to engage either the larger, or smaller sprocket. Here it's engaged to the large one. Seen at the National Museum of Industrial History.

Possibly the biggest, baddest, most bulbous speeder bike to emerge from the drawing boards of Llwyngwril Systems. The Turbinia was based around a massive turbine.
Centuries later, all the evidence left for its existence are these four archive photos. They leave many questions unanswered:
Was the giant turbine some form of centrifugal compressor? If so, were did the all of air go? The nozzles on the rear of the bike are quite small.
As the turbine made up a considerable part of the mass of the speeder bike and was effectively a large gyroscope, how the Turbinia generate enough turning force to manoeuvre?
How did the pilot get up to the cockpit?
The mechanics of the anti-gravity systems needed for the Turbinia to hover are, of course, simple and well known.
Made to endure the trials of the most hostile terrain, the Horizon-class speeder is equipped with coupled twin-proton engines. Built for speed over comfort, it remained one of the most utilized speeders in the exploration of the new world. Not only because of its ability to quickly carry equipment over large areas, but also because of its ability to withstand the trials of the frequent sandstorms.

I've been thinking about what to do with jet engines I got in a Chima set, and also thinking about building one more speeder to improve my building skills.
Today I came up with an idea of making a pod racer as in Star Wars: EP 1. However, the minifigure pilot I have is actually a resistance pilot, precisely appearing much later in the SW galaxy.
So I tried the speeder to be more like a EP 4 thing, rather than a streamlined naboo star fighter.
Probably the resistance appropriated the Pod Racer to their fighter speeder. :D

The fastest film I have ever purchased. I used it for astrophotography with my Minolta SR-7 mounted to a telescope. Also for some night time available light around Paris France. This is my final roll, unexposed, and way out of date!

Fast optics were much more important in the 60's than they are today. ASA (ISO in today's speak) speed of 100 was considered "fast" and films beyond ASA 200 were expensive, very grainy, and not easy to come by. ASA 25 and 50 were the normal films so you can see why a fast lens made such a difference back then!
The Canon7 and Dream lens is still a very popular combination even all these years later.
I won't pretend that it gives me consistent spectacular results (like my 70-200 f4 on my 5Dmk2) but it sure is at the top of my list of fun cameras!
It is very joyous to take it out and consider the possibilities the lens makes available, and to take the time to attempt to make the possibilities a reality!
It is great to see these lenses making their way into the digital world as well. Many have been adapted to the micro 4/3 system and the Leica M digitalis. This seems an ideal platform for the 0.95 since it is a challenge to get consistent results with the time limitations of film. A digital 0.95 would be an ideal learning platform, the instantaneous feedback digital provides would allow you to much better master this lens.
Another day and unexpectedly another speeder. Couldn’t help myself, is this procrastination or just another attempt at juggling multiple ideas!? I need to get back to the Stinger Mantis, as I feel so so close to finishing it now. ;)
