I'm a huge fan of Rey in the new Star Wars trilogy. This build started when I bought the official Rey's speeder set, and didn't love how out of scale it was with the Rey minifig, and how inaccurate it was compared to the movie version.
Despite my best efforts, I ended up building a version that was still too big for the Rey minifig, and probably close to the same scale as the original set. Buuut I think it looks much more movie accurate now, and I'm really pleased with the shaping and details I was able to include.
Also, it's been a little while since I built or posted anything here. Like 7 years. (My handle used to be Vid, in case anyone is wondering who this rando is in their feed). It's good to be back! I have like 3-ish additional MOCs in progress, I'm making slow progress but I'm really liking where they are going. Maybe I'll post some pictures of where I'm at soon.

14-04-14 Taken with a Canon 60D using a Tamron SP AF70-300mm Di VC USD Zoom Lens at 300mm. The ship returns to Appledore on Thursday evenings high tide after completing it's speed and endurance trials.
Fast flowing yet beautiful when frozen by the shutter speed.

This view was taken on the Docklands Light Railway as the train was in the tunnel which takes it under the Thames. The railway is automatic, no driver except a supervisor who sits in one of the front passenger seats. This gives a great opportunity as there are passenger seats at the front and back of the train. I put the camera lens flat against the window to cut out reflections. This shot was taken from the back as the train was leaving the Island Gardens Station on the North Bank.
I took a lot of pictures and settled on a shutter speed of 0.8 seconds for the best feel of movement.
The picture was taken with a Sony A700 with a Sigma 10-20 wide angle zoom at 10mm. Taken handheld in RAW. The image was opened in Camera Raw and 2 additional images were created at =2EV and -2Ev for a âfalse HDRâ
Outputted in Photomatix to contast optimiser for a natural look for an HDR. Topaz adjust clarity setting was used. I also used Topaz deNoise and Topaz clean with masks to deal with low light noise in some areas. A selection was made with the pen tool for the selective colour of the yellow line. Mono conversion was done with a Photoshop adjustment layer.

Speed!!! :-)))))) Perfect follow up to a bird shot!
So, a lot of you commented on my "WhatTheFlickr" post, and it seems that for the most part Flickr being listed on the Yahoo home page was very much dependent on where you are located. Everyone in the US confirmed that it was not on the home page, and it seemed to be gone from some of the UK, but present for some of you in (no particular order) Ireland, Germany, Austria, Canada and Australia. The one thought everyone shared was a very poor opinion of Yahoo, and a wish for Flickr to wind up in more attentive and caring hands.
Anyway, I find it very depressing that Flickr is not being pushed more aggressively here in the States, as it worries me that it is being set up to fail, or not being given enough room to succeed.
Thanks everyone for chiming in and providing feedback, it is very much appreciated. And I do not say it often, but let me say it now, I am so thankful to have such a great group of people to interact with. You are all so talented, nice and supportive, a big thank you to all of you for that!!!

A Canada Goose stays within the speed limit on a city street in Henry, IL last April when spring flood waters invaded many residential communities along the Illinois River.
Another photo from the Hong Kong tunnel taken from the second deck of a double decker bus. We obviously hit a bump durign the taking of the photo but I think it still gives an interesting effect. Details: f3.2 for 2 seconds. Another photo taken a short while later without the bump.

Pilots use instumentation to avoid areas of high pressure which cause crystalization of nitrogen and methane gas in the atmosphere. These 'gasbergs' have been the cause of many devestating collisions.
When fired, the boosters ignite atmospheric xenon-nitrogen, producing distinctive green contrails.

The venerable Sunbeam company quickly distinguished itself through its spirit of innovation, notably by entering the world of competition at a very early stage to prove the reliability and performance of its vehicles on the most prestigious circuits. In the 1920s, the brand reached its peak, thanks in particular to racing models such as the 1924 Sunbeam Grand Prix (also offered for sale by Aguttes) and record-breaking achievements. The brand, a symbol of British performance and expertise, also enjoyed great renown on the road, thanks in particular to the Twenty, a touring car which in the early 1930s benefited from a beautiful 3-litre 6-cylinder engine.
The very stylish 20 HP Monte Carlo Saloon featured on these pages was delivered new by the London-based company Boon & Porter Ltd. to Mr and Mrs Turnbull of Woking, Surrey, on 16 July 1934. It originally bore the registration number M4, which had previously belonged to a 1903 De Dion, and retained this number until it was sold to Mr Garment, also in Surrey, in 1957. Well known to the Sunbeam Talbot Darracq register, this fine example has participated in numerous rallies and events in the United Kingdom and Europe. Maintained by Holcombe Engineering in Bath from 1970 to the late 1990s, it comes with a complete file listing a full ownership history since its inception, invoices dating back to 1969, and copies of road tests in Motor Sport from December 1933 and The Motor from February 1934 praising the model’s sporting prowess. Before its current owner acquired it, this Twenty was repainted in its original blue and black livery, the engine was rebuilt by B.B. Motor Components Ltd (in 2006), new wheels were rebuilt, the interior was restored, etc.
With only 18 Speed 20s remaining out of approximately 100 built (including 5 Monte Carlo pillarless Saloons out of the 25 manufactured), this incredible Sunbeam will delight a gentleman driver looking for one of the most desirable Grand Touring cars of the 1930s, ready to hit the road in the utmost comfort and with surprising performance for its time.
An Italo ETR 675 high-speed set snakes through the curves west of Firenze Statuto station as part of the wye move all through-running (between Milan and Rome) high-speed services must make in order to serve Florence's main station at Santa Maria Novella. A project is currently underway to build a brand-new, subterranean high speed rail terminal underneath Santa Maria Novella, to increase speeds through the city by eliminating this awkward reverse move.
