When I was 15, I spent the summer with my sister and brother-in-law, who lived a few houses above the Knox Street crossing of the Maine Central’s Rockland Branch in Thomaston, Maine. Although I had unsuccessfully lobbied my parents for a 35mm camera the previous year, I was only equipped with an Instamatic, and I have processed a few of the slides from that summer.
