Kids of all ages discovered the science of sound with Mr. Mark A.K.A. The Crazy Singing Scientist in this hour of fun science, music, dancing, singing, and a 'make-and-take' craft.

An ongoing series of onomatopoetic representations of several locations in London. By using a dictaphone to initially record sounds from each location, type treatment and placement was then later determined by visual arrangements found within audio visualisation software. Different colours of text refer to different sounds within the location. The examples shown, represent a short trip on the tube, and an afternoon in Crystal Palace Park.

In this image film stills of the inside of a piano are combined with waveforms in an attempt to capture a visual representation of musical rhythms. This image relates to the work of experimental filmmaker Oskar Fischinger. In the 1930s Fischinger experimented with Ornament Sound, utilizing the optical sound track in a very unique way. He used graphical icons in place of the usual waveforms in the soundtrack area of the film, to create a "synthesized," or "pure" sound. His work raised questions about what sounds shapes might create.

Forty Four Sounds is a text based, sound collage, film work. The text was arrived at through a random selection of previously chosen words and phrases. The soundtrack was then composed from samples of forty four found sounds. There are 44 frames/prints and the video lasts for 4 minutes and 44 seconds.

The work and its process references Dada poetry and sound and the chance compositions of John Cage.

The work can be realised in a number of formats, as an installation of 44 digitally printed magnetic text panels and video or as separate elements, prints, video or sound. The ull video can be seen here

These horses are part of the display in front of Caesar's Palace on the Las Vegas Strip. Very dramatic. And so it is up and down the Strip: living sculptures, wild animals, dazzling costumes, smoke and fire, dancing lights, soaring architecture. Each casino working to outdo the next at amazing the tourists. Tourists trying to be unamazed, lest they be recognized as tourists. I looked hard for something real (people or things). Didn't find much. But I wasn't afraid to be a tourist, just for the fun of it.
