Project 252 - A Year at Roman
Last night we captured a photo of Linda with the abundance of Royal Mail sacks ready to be collected by our regular Postie. Roman at Home are responsible for the lions share of the sacks in the photograph, a mere 15 bags of orders placed on Thursday that will be despatch via Royal Mail alongside our 3 pallets of larger size items going via our Courier company. The orders include a wealth of items including Christmas Table Linen, Accessories and Gifts for the festive season.

Project 252 - A Year at Roman
Roman's Export Manager, Angela, has travelled on from her appointments in the UAE to Doha, the Capital City of Qatar. While she was visitings showrooms, hotels and installations, Angela took in the sights of the city and snapped away for Project 252 today. In today's photos you can see the eclectic mix of new architecture alongside classic buildings. If you look closely at the left photograph, you can see four skilled (and brave!) window cleaners abseiling down the high rise office block.

Project 252 - A Year at Roman
Today’s picture shows Roman taking a starring role on a new prime time television programme, Half Built House. Having worked with presenter, designer and builder Sian on a number of her own projects, we were delighted when she approached us and asked if we’d like to be involved with her brand new TV show, Half Built House. Sian was keen to include a Roman Shower Enclosure, Tray and Shower Valve for an en-suite bathroom and we were happy to oblige. As you can see from today’s picture the bathroom was a complete building site beforehand. The finished shower room is stunning transformation and the couple were delighted with their ‘man-sized shower’.
The products supplied were our Embrace Sliding Door, Infinity Shower Tray and our RVE005 Shower Valve. Half Built House airs on Channel 5 on Tuesdays at 8pm.

After a short luncheon and an Awards introduction from Oliver Heath about being more eco-conscious in the home, we are proud to be announced as Gold Award Winner of Innovation in Marketing for Roman's innovative Project Specification Guide. The Guide, launched this year, allows a specifier in the housing, project and hotel industries to tailor make a project to fit their needs and design requirements.

Project 252 - A Year at Roman
Several staff at Roman took to the streets to support and cheer on the Olympic Torch Relay and Torchbearers of 2012 through the streets of Newton Aycliffe and Darlington as it passed through on Day 30 of the relay.
We believe running past the streets of Roman in the Aycliffe Business Park the runner was Kay Stokes, a local campaigner and champion of junior and adult sports and athletics in the region.

Last night's episode of Half Built House featured several products from our sister company, Roman at Home (www.romanathome.com). The makeover was part of a house-wide makeover by Sian Astley and the Half Built House team to rebuild a home that teacher Claire's DIY efforts had made unliveable, with no Kitchen of Bathroom.
The makeover bathroom featured the following products:

Today's 252 photograph was taken outside one of the city's top Architectural Practices. David had just finished an appointment with them to sign off a Shower Project Specification for a large residential project in Asia.

Different departments within Roman came together today to have a good Royal knees up buffet in celebration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Taking centre stage was a Union Jack freshly made Victoria Sponge cake alongside several platters of cucumber sandwiches! Pork pies, sausage rolls, cheese and biscuits followed by cream scones & cake. Can't get better than this for a British Friday afternoon working lunch.

As part of the Roman Asia feature this week on Project 252, the team have been out seeing the sights and sounds of Malaysia and the capital city, Kuala Lumpur. Last night they took in the sights of some of the wonderful architecture the city has to offer, including the magnificent Petronas Twin Towers. We're not quite sure yet if they ventured up the towers and walked across the Sky Bridge that sits 170 meters above the ground looking over the city!

One of the many highlights of 2012 for Roman is the upcoming Sleep Event on the 21st & 22nd of November (at the London Design Centre). With only a few weeks to go the team, photographed today for Project 252, had a planning and action meeting to evaluate the Stand, Exhibition Material, Literature and the launch of our Project Specification Guide at the Event. Mike (centre) can be seen demonstrating to the team where our exclusive new soft closing hinge systems will be demonstrated on the stand.

David Osborne, our Managing Director, was passing through the Lake District yesterday and had time to photograph an interesting marker. This Stone marks exactly the half way point between John O'Groats and Lands End - the two extremities of the British Mainland. It is just off the M6 between Tebay and Kendal - check it on a map as it really is half way even though it doesn't seem it!

Roman at Home received an order for our lovely baby boy gift set this morning, so I went into their despatch office and grabbed a photo of Tracey packing the baby towel, rubber ducks and brush into the Roman gift box. Finished off with a satin ribbon, tissue paper and gift card.

…to find out who's been naughty or nice… today's 252 is the other half of our Turkey & Champagne 252 story. At Christmas all of our staff have a choice of a Turkey or a bottle of Champagne for their Christmas lunch as thank you from Roman.
Today the British Lincolnshire Turkeys were delivered and Lynda & Kim (far right) were checking everyone off the list who requested a Turkey for Christmas when they collected them. We managed to capture April, Linda & Rachel (from left) when they arrived to collect their festive birds.
