Shadows from a fire escape fall across the front of a San Francisco building
I made this photograph late in the day back in early September, on a street photography shoot with a group of like-minded folks in San Francisco. We met in the late afternoon, wandered about for a while in the beautiful late-day light, then broke for dinner before going back out to photograph after dark.
One one hand, you could probably find a similar scene in many other cities. On the other hand, it also evokes the architecture of San Francisco, where buildings are packed tightly together, often with seemingly little regard for their aesthetic appearance when viewed from the street — with the result being very utilitarian facades, often featuring metal gates, fire escapes, and sometimes a worn and weathered appearance. This street runs almost directly east-west, so late in the day the sunlight was falling across the front of the building at a low angle and casting strong shadows.

One of the last sunny days of Summer - noticed the shadows cast by two glasses of wine on an outdoor table. Amazing the way the light is refracted through the stems of the glasses.
Trying to make a series of shadow on architecture that show a flat facade but the shadows show the structure.
For over a year now, Elisa and I have been looking out for opportunities to contribute to our Found Shadow Project. Here are some of the results.
We set up these rules for the project:
1. Only 'found' shadows could be entered in the project (nothing is staged!).
2. The object casting the shadow must be out of frame.
3. Only available light, natural or otherwise. may be used.

The dark line in the sky is a contrail shadow . Shadow was cast on the layer of
cirrostratus cloud beneath the airplane. More about it is here

Taken late in the afternoon at Catherine Hill Bay affectionally known as 'Catho'. This guy, who I nicked named 'Smiley' was enjoying the small barrels the plus for this shot was his shadow surfing with him.
The Shadow Legionnaire is a long-running and successful racer. She may not look like much, but she's got some power under the hood. She excels on the straightaways.
The small images are a little more visible when viewed large.

Almost daily I go to Taco Cabana for breakfast. A photo group I participate in has various assignments. This month it was shadows.
A few days ago I saw my shadow on the trash receptacle and saw that as my shot for the shadow assignment. The only problem was that I didn't have my camera with me (which is highly unusual).
So, the next 3 days were cloudy with no sun and no shadows. Finally, the sun was out and I shot this with my Canon SX 280 on self timer.
This beautiful angel can be found in the churchyard at St.Georges Church, Portlands. I love down cast face with eyes closed in prayer, so beautiful.

Sunset captured in the desert of southern California, near the Salton Sea. The overcast distant horizon showed little promise for anything spectacular, but then suddenly the light glimmered above the clouds, casting shadows all around the hills and mountains, creating incredible silhouettes!
First idea that came to mind for the potd was to get a shadow of the wheels on my bike. My idea didn't really translate to the camera. This one was my favorite of the bunch.
Shadows & light reflected onto paving from buildings near Broadgate Circle. I was lucky to find this for 7DOS only a day or two after the list of new themes had been posted.
