"Do you know where they put my shadow?"

Forcing myself, again, to learn the beauty of the details. It's tough for me, as in my work, "The hell is in details ...".

I was on my way home when I noticed as he was coming towards me from below just how predominant was his shadow, the sun the angle everything was in place for the shadow shot and yep.. could not resist and in ze basket it went.. I liked the perspective and angle, i hesitated to do a monochrome but decided against the idea.. :-)

Mark ‘Spoonman’ Petrakis and I are developing a shadow puppet show we call ‘Ubu’s Dreams’.

This short series of sketches stars Père Ubu, the hero of french poet Alfred Jarry’s surreal plays. In this show, Ubu is constantly dreaming, playing with archetypal characters from our collective unconscious.

For this project, we are creating a variety of wooden figures with a laser cutter: big faces, music notes, dancers, trees and graveyards, to name but a few. We then tape our puppets on wooden sticks, and wave them across the stage to bring them to life, with a projector over our heads.

We plan to continue this experiment through the summer and perform a first puppet show during our Dada exhibit at the Canessa Gallery in North Beach, from Nov. 3 to 12, 2016.

I also plan to use some of these techniques with our lower and middle school students, for the Maker Art courses I will be teaching this fall.

From shadow puppets to poetic robots, these interactive storytelling experiments have the potential to engage us at a deeper level and help us learn more about ourselves.

The late afternoon sun shining through our lounge created this contrasting effect on our "Ficus Benjamina" plant. The shadow seems to mimic the plant twisting.

This is now part of a new set called World of Two Halves and also a new group World of Two Halves (WoTH). Please feel free to join the group if interested.

This ended up being half shadow and half reflection. But it is definitely a long one. I am only 5'2", and this shadow makes me about 11' tall.

The afternoon sun magnifies and enhances

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I've been crawling on my belly

Clearing out what could've been.

I've been wallowing in my own confused

And insecure delusions

For a piece to cross me over

Or a word to guide me in.

I wanna feel the changes coming down.

I wanna know what I've been hiding in

My shadow.

Thats my shadow on the wall...

Oblique morning sun beams create stark shadow lines from the building of health clinic in Chapel Hill, NC.

this cat lives up the street from me. we recently became friends. today on my walk from the bus we played on the sidewalk and enjoyed the long afternoon shadows.

Shadows walk where shadows dare, crossing lines uncrossed with time to spare, with breath to share.
