I woke up with a weird feeling that this day wouldn't be the best. But after a few restless hours in the morning, we explored a beautiful forest and ended up at this amazing location in the evening. The moment the setting sun hit my skin in midst of the cold wind as I was taking photos here, the restlessness from the morning vanished and I felt completely relaxed and content.

And I still get the exact same feeling when I know I have taken photos I am happy with as I used to seven years ago. :')

Sunset

Kona, HI, U.S.A.

9th December 2013

Derry West; Mississauga, Ontario.

YCC Camera Club outing to Fradley Junction

Australia's coast. We stopped during our trip along the Great Ocean Road and waited until the Sun got low.

Moor Crichel, Dorset, England.

Good afternoon everyone, it's good to be back.

I'm taking a short break from nursing duties, looking after my better half. She has months of treatment ahead, so I may well have to dip in and out of our little community. I have to put in a word for the NHS, they may be broke but the treatment and care they have shown my wife has been quite exceptional.

Anyway, back to the picture.

This fleeting spectacle was created by the setting sun making a brief appearance in a gap on the horizon between cloud above and fog below. The light was further defused by mist on the hill I was standing on. Moments later the mist blew away and the illusion was gone.

Happy Friday!

Lazy hot days of Summer...Marley lounging on the deck gazing out into the setting sun. It doesn’t get much better than this!

A beautiful ending to a great day of photography in the Land of Living Skies.

"And the rails go on forever in a silver trail to the setting sun

You can follow them anywhere you want to go

And on Sunday morning easy rider comes to me with apple cider

Leaves me here without a need to know" Al Setwart

Ever since I first heard Al Stewart's "Apple Cider Reconstitution" in the 70's about old railway stations and railway lines, being young, and drinking cider, I have have a picture stuck in my mind, and last week while crossing the lines at my station I saw that picture! Luckily I had my phone camera to capture the moment, just pimped up a bit with a texture.

I still get a buzz out of the song today.

This male Barn Owl flew past where I was waiting in field for him,the sun was just setting and gave him this nice glow from the light.Hope you like him.

Sending you all a great big THANK YOU!! :-) Frontpage of Explore: Highest position #14

For the last and final shot in the Stockholm series I wanted to put together something creative. This shot is a panoramic (or an ultra ultra wide angle shot) composed of 2 separate HDR’s with each HDR taken at +2..0..-2 EV. I then stitched together and played with the shots in photoshop to create this scene. The lens I used was my wide angle sigma lens at 10mm to get as much of the scene as I could.

Hope you all are having a great week thus far and I’ll be visiting your photostreams soon!

Beautiful Sunset in February in Ireland. Taken with my Panasonic Lumix when I saw the chance.

This sunset photo was taken along the TVA Reservoir Road on Raccoon Mountain.

HDR, Long exposure 4 min

Lake Roxen, Sweden

Early Evening Mountains and Cloud, Yellowhead Highway, British Columbia, Canada

Sunsets don't get much better than this, this shot is straight out of the camera, no saturation or colour adjustments whatsoever, i only wish i was ready for it. you go out on a dull overcast evening, the sun goes down and 10 minutes later the colours are amazing.

As the sun set yesterday it cast some dramatic shadows across the dining room and really drew your attention to the carnations I picked up the day before.

Being a sucker for warm light and shadows I had my camera out in no time and after chasing Scott out of the shot I was able to get what I was looking for.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

My technique is alway the same:

Three exposures -2EV, 0, +2EV and then temperature adjustement using Lightroom and layering with luminosity mask using photoshop. Removal of distracting stuff with the stamp tool or patch tool. High pass filter to enhance details. Then saturation, contrast selectively control, dodge and burn where need...

DRI stand for Dynamic Range Increase. Three RAW files are used to achieve this. Rather than using a software like Photomatix for instance, I simply use mask to blend, my own way, the light, dark and normal shot with Photoshop and Lightroom.. To me, It looks more natural than the usual HDR treatment that I would normally applied.

Dodge and burn là où requis...
