I wonder how the sculptor did this. Did he use a dog he knew as a model? Did he send out a casting call? Who would respond?
UPS Pre-Loader Elizabeth Reid loads a food box onto a delivery van to deliver needed food of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) Meals to You program that responded to the school closures due to COVID-19, here one of the partners, PepsiCo, implemented a logistics solution that utilizes package delivery company (UPS) to get multi-week supplemental food boxes to children in rural locations, such as Natalia, TX, on August 24, 2020.
USDA first began the Meals to You program in 2019 as a three-year demonstration project designed to test a method to deliver nutritious food to children during the summer months in rural areas where the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is not available to difficult to access. USDA entered into an agreement with Baylor University's Texas Hunger Initiative (now called the Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty) for the original demonstration.
In response to COVID-19, USDA and its partners were able to leverage the summer demonstration project to ensure rural children had access to food during pandemic-related school closures. The Emergency Meals to You demonstration project continues our public-private partnership with the Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty and McLane Global that began in Summer 2019, and additionally includes Pepsi Co. and Chartwells.
USDA was able to fund this expansion utilizing funding provided by the CARES Act. Overall, we allocated $185 million for the program (from the $8.8 billion that the CARES Act provided for Child Nutrition.)
Meals to You boxes are delivered directly to children's homes via the U.S. Postal Service or another delivery service. Each box contains 20 nutritious, shelf-stable meals, including ten breakfasts and ten lunches/suppers. In participating states, families with students who attend an eligible school or are eligible for free or reduced-price meals may opt-in to receive one box per child every two weeks.
The original goal was to serve 1 million meals per week, which was quickly surpassed. The partnership is now serving around 5 million meals per week.

Technicians at the Airbus facility in Bremen, Germany weigh the European Service Module ahead of shipment to Kennedy Space Center. The service module will depart Germany on November 5th, 2018 and will arrive in the U.S. on November 6.
For the first time, NASA will use a European-built system as a critical element to power an American spacecraft, extending the international cooperation of the International Space Station into deep space. The European Service Module is a unique collaboration across space agencies and industry including ESA’s prime contractor, Airbus, and 10 European countries. The completion of service module work in Europe and shipment to Kennedy signifies a major milestone toward NASA’s human deep space exploration missions to the Moon and beyond.

This morning I headed off early to Spelga Dam for a special Easter dawn service. We arrived there sometime around 5:45am. The service started a short time later. There was lots of singing and then a preacher man who brought a short message. I estimate there were around 100-150 people at the service.
I took this photo just after the service was over at around 7am. The sky was fantasic - lots of orange, blue and black in the sky.
It was really great to be able to celebrate the resurrection of Christ in the open air along with other believers. A superb way to actually mark Easter Sunday and not let it just past by.
This the Power of The Cross -
Oh, to see the dawn,
Of the darkest day,
Christ on the road to Calvary.
Tried by sinful men,
Torn and beaten, then,
Nailed to a cross of wood.
This, the power of the cross;
Christ became sin for us.
Took the blame, bore the wrath -
We stand forgiven at the cross.
Oh, to see the pain,
Written on the face,
Bearing the awesome weight of sin.
Every bitter thought,
Every evil deed,
Crowning Your bloodstained brow.
This, the power of the cross;
Christ became sin for us.
Took the blame, bore the wrath -
We stand forgiven at the cross.
Now the daylight flees,
Now the ground beneath,
Quakes as its Maker bows His head.
Curtain torn in two,
Dead are raised to life,
'Finished!' the victory cry.
This, the power of the cross;
Christ became sin for us.
Took the blame, bore the wrath -
We stand forgiven at the cross.
Oh, to see my name,
Written in the wounds,
For through Your suffering I am free.
Death is crushed to death,
Life is mine to live,
Won through Your selfless love.
This, the power of the cross;
Son of God - slain for us.
What a love! What a cost!
We stand forgiven at the cross.

Some Japanese service behaviours that foreigners may or may not appreciate. Of then they will but some, especially caucasian foreigners may be irritated by some Japanese attempts at service in ways that the foreigner does not expect. I have put an X against those services that I think are best avoided, and a triangle next to those that may, occasionally, result in a negative reation.
To be used with the guessing game in the next image.
Why might Westerners not be happy with some of these instances of Japanese service? Explaining the ones against which I have put a triangle or X....
Spoke in a high pitched voice. It is common for female, and even male (e.g television shopping announcers), Japanese sales staff to speak in a falsetto voice an octave higher than they would normally. This is I think to to be more humble and less threatening (like a child or small person) and also perhaps to depersonalise the interaction so that the customer does not feel oblidged to reciprocate service received, as would be the case in normal Japanese interpersonal interaction, since the false voice connotes that the service staff is a role rather than a person.
This may be felt to be less than ideal to some Westerners since on the one hand they would not want the service staff to demean themselves to that extent, and on the other they would like to be served by a person (and demean that person!) rather than a role.
The falsity of the voice may be felt more acutely by Westerners since I believe Westerners identify more strongly with voices. To a Westerner putting on a false voice is to affect a greater trait rather than state change on the part of the sevice staff. To a Westerner, if a service staff member affects a smile then all they are doing is pretending to be pleased to see you, but if they change their voice then they are pretending to be a different person.
Research shows that Japanese are more sensitive to the information content of tone of voice (Ishii and Kitayama) presumably because Japanese express their state, their emotion, their desire, through the tone of their voice whereas Westerners feel that a vocal tone is something that is situationally unchanging, depending upon personality.
(I really don't know why however, in stage plays featuring famous television and cartoon characters, it seems essential that these characters speak in the same voice as that used on screen, so stage players in Japan mime to a recording of the voice of the voice actor, or more likely actress, that dubbs the character, suggesting a greater degree of voice-identification.
Conversely again, I am troubled by the fact that a great many preadolescent male characters, such as Crayon Shin Chan or even I think Satoshi in Pokemon, are voiced by women. I don't think I noticed that the voices are female, but once I am told, I find it troubling that for instance, Satoshi's voice is that of a woman. It makes me wonder "Who is Satoshi?" or think that "Satoshi is unreal, polysexual, a fake!")
early 80s
According to one source, the Kat was the fastest mass produced motorcycle on the planet at the time of its launch - I don't know about that but it was pretty "nippy". A quick trawl of the web indicates the top end was about 137-140 which seems quite feeble compared to today's rocket ships. I once heard of an unnamed person who saw 145 on the clock (they always read fast) going down the Ramsbottom by pass.
But whatever. Thirty years later it still looks great. The grand daddy of modern motorcycle design.

Having adapted Thornes' Beadle coach as the basis of my East Yorkshire version, the same company's Harrington-bodied Seddon seemed to be a natural starting point for one of East Yorkshire's similar-bodied Leyland Tiger Cubs. There's a good reference picture in the book 'East Yorkshire Motor Services and its Associates' (Autobus Review Publications) and the accompanying caption tells us that 677 (WAT 677) was one of three Harrington-bodied Leyland Tiger Cub coaches purchased in 1957. Finished in the company's primrose and riviera blue livery, it was name 'Wold Star' (29-Jul-10).
