The region has experienced a large amount of rain. This has led to an overabundance of mosquitoes. Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. This individual is perched on a marigold flower bud.

With the loss of my cat this week, I've kept her toys and put them into storage along with a few other things. The blue mouse on an elastic string with handle, she used to run around after for hours (more so when she was younger) and it squeaks.
A local cat charity had some of the other things, food and cat litter and some unused scratching poles and toys she never played with.
Given an HDR treatment.
The skin of the Elephant is 1-3.5 centimetres thick. The skin on the back and the haunches is the thickest and the skin behind the ears is the thinnest. The skin is important in controlling temperature, especially dissipating heat. The elephant's skin is so wrinkly partly to increase surface area to shed warmth from its body. Oddly, the skin has no sweat glands except for those right above the elephant's toenails. Healthy skin plays a great part in an elephant's vitality. Elephants love to roll in mud and to throw dirt over themselves, both of which protect against sun and insects. They also love to bathe for long periods, and bathing is a good opportunity for the mahout to look for anything unusual with the skin, such as wounds, abscesses and parasites.
This bull Elephant came across this huge rock and immensilly enjoyed scratching itself all over its body before returning to the rest of the herd which had moved further on. Photographed on an early morning game drive in the semi-arid area of Samburu National Reserve, Kenya.

Scratching Post - Young Bobcat entering her prime marks her territory. I have been having a slow time with photography lately so I actually was not planning on going out this evening.
However, I made a last minute trip out to try to see if any Bobcats would show after the rain. Boy did that decision pay off - within 30 seconds I spotted a Bobcat within the brush.
After I identified that it was the individual Bobcat that is most comfortable with me, I quietly walked around and sat about 30 feet from her for 30 minutes. This is a strategy I use with this species - finding a distanced place where they have clear line of sight to me and just sitting and acting normal. After the 30 minute period she got up and actually stalked towards me within 15 feet, and started marking her territory and scratching. I did not realize how large this particular individual had gotten and it was pretty awe-inspiring to watch her reach up and scratch the trees.
Scratching is not a behavior I have photographed well with Bobcats so this was truly a treat. I had to switch to vertical orientation, adjust my exposure compensation and zoom out to 300mm all in one motion to capture this image and I am very glad I didn't fumble anything. After this, she headed on for her hunt. Definitely grateful for this experience - was truly my #1 wildlife experience of 2022 without a doubt.

I was never thinking that the seascape shooting can be so adventurous like this morning. I went with Michael to Shelly Beach-Manly to take some shots but I must have misunderstood his email. Seriously, when he told me that this was going to be an adventure, he was right!!
We decided that instead of walking for half an hour to our destination we would take the shortcut via a steep road down to the cliff in pitch black darkness (5.30 am). Well Michael had a flash light and I forgot mine at home, bottom line – we finally reached our destination with some additional scars, bruises and scratches on my legs and feet. I had slipped a couple of times and fell despite my Spiderman powers and my new wet shoes!!
We met Oat ( Hangingpixels) and few more photographers; good thing is to see how many people enjoy photography, sunrise and seascape shooting.

There is something inherently cute about Koalas. They sleep so much each day that movement can be surprising quick. Just got the shutter speed right to get a little foot movement :-)
Love the RF100-500mm's sharpness

Close up of a Fig Beetle (aka Green Fruit Beetle/Green June Beetle/etc.), Cotinis mutabilis. These beautiful, harmless beetles are flying around now here in southern California. They have a tendency to clonk into obstacles when flying - even easily-avoidable ones like houses - so it's good they're well-armored. Up close like this you can see all the scrapes and scratches from its various mid-air collisions.
