A Great Horned Owl gives a lazy, sleepy scratch while roosting in the pines.

A squirrel takes a break from eating to scratch an itch, it was funny watching him as he almost lost his balance.

A big bull bison (Bison bison) uses a boulder as a scratching post near the Rex Hale Campground on the North Fork of the Shoshone west of Cody Wyoming. Buffalo (what they are commonly called) are a normal sight in Yellowstone National Park but they aren’t as plentiful outside the Park in Shoshone National Forest.

I purchased this years ago for my cats to sharpen their claws on, but none have ever used it - HSoS!

We see a lot of green herons in late August and September. I assume our summer resident birds are joined by a few migrants during this period. I photographed this bird in late August 2018, He was animated and patient, so I have a lot of pics of him. Here he is scratching his eye which, given that sharp claw, must require a soft touch. I posted a tight crop in comment 1. Brazos Bend State Park in SE Texas. 8/2018

Something is either concrete or abstract,not both:-) This is a cement face with a nasty scratch. I thought of this title myself but I wasn't the first,I think.

Wish I had more time to play this morning but just a quick shot of the sunrise through my scratched up sunglasses. I guess it's time for a new pair and perhaps to use a glasses case to prevent the scratches.

"When the flush of a newborn sun fell first on Eden's green and gold,

Our father Adam sat under the Tree and scratched with a stick in the mold;

And the first rude sketch that the world had seen was joy to his mighty heart,

Till the Devil whispered behind the leaves: "It's pretty, but is it Art?"

-Rudyard Kipling, Conundrum of the Workshops

Darned if I know, but it's a heckuva lot of scratching, I decided to post it anyway and politely suggested to the devil that he could go to hell.

Have a nice Sunday/week.

I enjoy this photo because one can literally see the relief in the face of this little Stilt Sandpiper after scratching that itch
