Tessa and Sole have a new cat scratcher thing. Tessa didn't read the instructions so she's taken it over thinking it's a princess bed. Sole and his claws can't get anywhere near it.

Candid street portrait taken in Ayr, Scotland, during the Scottish Air Show 2015. Lingering my frame long enough to capture that instantaneous eye contact and resulting in a very thought provoking expression on this gentleman among the thronging crowds which numbered 120000.

That bull elephant in musth again. This guy was following a herd of matriarchs and their herd. Keeping an eye on a young bull family member and making sure he kept back from the rest of the herd. At some point the herd slowed down and the bull decided to get a little amorous with this termite mound where he snuggled it with his trunk, dry humped it and then scratched his butt on it. Boy, does Big H need a haircut. (And yes, that is sand in his hair!)
HBW!
Another bird more often seen at Middle Creek, but that I am rarely able to capture is the Bald Eagle. I saw this one snatch a fish on the other side of the lake so I drove over there hoping to get close. I got lucky (except for a few branches in the way) and this capture was taken from the car.
I still haven't finished digging through my New Zealand folders. I am *very* slow when it comes to processing photos. Scratch that actually, I am very slow when it comes to doing anything.

Painting on the side of an old building in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. The building currently houses a Schwinn Bicycle store and they also sell Boy Scout supplies. I do not know how long this has been on the side of the building but it is very aged.
She was sitting in the sun just relaxing. Then she got an itch and proceeded to scratch herself quite vigorously.
Notice the old beaver cutting in the background.

I attended a "Wings and Wheels" venue yesterday, which featured vintage aircraft and cars. Unfortunately, one of three Harvard trainers had come in for a landing and went off the runway. There was a crosswind and bystanders who saw the crash said the plane drifted off it's approach onto the grass, where the wheels caught something and flipped it over. Thankfully there was no fire and both pilot and passenger walked away with only cuts and scratches.
The late afternoon sun plays upon the iridescence of this drake Mallard, revealing a beautiful purple hue as opposed to the normally seen green.

... is serious business, and you always have to be on guard while you're at it. Poeka is the only cat that uses the trees in the garden to sharpen her nails.
You have to scratch all the way to the top - look at her go! This is the last bit, she is small enough that it takes a few passes to scratch all the way up grasping the post with all 4 pointy paws. Happy Caturday 3 August 2024, "Cat Olympics"
I wasn’t sure what was of such great interest here until I walked past - they were all doing scratch cards.
