San Francisco has a preservation mentality concerning the pre-1906 Victorian architecture within areas of the city which were spared the devastation of the great fire following the earthquake of April 1906.

Unfortunately I just found out after 2 trips to the minilab that my Rolleiflex T2 is broken, maybe, and this one was the only picture that came out nice. I need to send it to the repair shop or get another medium format camera like Diana or a Holga. But I hate lomo cameras. For real.

I'm really really REALLY sad. REALLY sad.

From the summit of Mt. Elgon (4,500m.+) is a view of the eroded caldera facing east into Uganda. The thick forest of the lower slopes has given way to moorlands and chaparral in this equatorial Afro-Alpine Zone. At this high altitude the largest plants are the hardy and primitive-looking Lobelia.

Drake's Bay is a sheltered cove protected from the Pacific by a spit of land ending in a point called, Chimney Rock.

Sir Francis Drake spent over 40 days here in 1579 refitting the ships of his small flotilla. He expressed his displeasure about the constant cold and fog, so typical of this coastal area. The bay and landing now bear Drake's name and are part of the Point Reyes National Seashore federal park system.

The architecture of San Francisco is quite varied, from the modern skyscrapers to the vintage wooden Victorians of the 1800s. I have always been impressed with the detail and style of the Victorian houses. Their preservation is a point of pride for many San Franciscans.

Long ago, in what seems a different life, a young mochilero/backpacker adventurer passed through Colombia. A fellow traveler took my camera and snapped this rare picture with me on the other side of the lens of my Yashica. Tierradentro, by the way, is a fascinating archaeological site where subterranean tombs ladened with treasures and elaborate stone carvings were discovered. I spent 3-4 days at this beautiful location before moving onwards.

Buttressed by a rock outcrop, a small wooded environment is welcome shelter from the elements. The midday dappled light offers some relief from the overhead sun to creatures who shelter here (including hikers like myself).

Tropical trees are often a platform for dozens, perhaps hundreds of plants, insects and other life forms. This tree in the Singapore Botanic Gardens demonstrates that fact very well.

Some of my first 4x5 tests using my old Polaroid Model 150 Roll Film Camera. Loaded one sheet of Kodak Royal-X Pan 4166 (expired 6/1986). I shot it at about ISO 200 which seems a bit under exposed.

Unfortunately I misjudged the amount of liquid needed in my Fink-Roselieve cut-film-pack developing tank, so the old Caffenol Concoction I used didn't quite reach the top, and the top 1/4 of each sheet (left side) wasn't quite developed. But I'm still pleased with the results, considering the developer had already been used once over one month ago... I lucked into a ton of old sheet film so there's plenty more experimenting to come...

Inhabiting the rocky East African Montane Moorland heights of Mt Kenya, this rodent-like creature is actually related to the elephant. Forever vigilant against eagles and other enemies, this friendly hyrax (Heterohyrax brucei) let it's guard down for a moment to pose for me (or perhaps beg for a handout?).
