Cumberland Island: Georgia's largest and southernmost barrier island. Here pristine maritime forests, undeveloped beaches and wide marshes whisper the stories of both man and nature - for now. Most of the island's magical 36,000 acres are protected by federal legislation under the designation 'National Seashore', which preserves the island in its "primitive" state. HOWEVER, some of the island is privately owned and several property owners are applying to Camden County authorities for rezoning to build houses. If this happens, Cumberland Island will be forever changed, like so many others. It would no longer be the Cumberland Island that was envisioned with enabling legislation that said: “The seashore shall be permanently preserved in its primitive state.”

This is why park advocates are sounding alarms. As loudly as possible:

“We are on the brink of abandoning a 45-year commitment to the American people to provide future generations with a primitive island experience." - Don Barger, southeast regional director of the National Parks Conservation Association.

“To those who have yet to find their way to this wonderland of natural beauty, hurry … It is now on the endangered list and the clock is ticking.” - St. Marys EarthKeepers Chair Alex Kearns

Though the National Park Service has stepped in to help negotiate a plan to respect the private landowners' rights while maintaining the intent to minimize development of the island, the zoning decisions currently rest with 5 Camden County Commissioners (contact info below).

From my first sitting. By John Reardon at Saved.

I saved the day & saved the deer. We were driving out by Bear Lake this afternoon. One of hundreds of deer run across the road in front of us. This one didn’t jump the fence very well. It had three of its legs caught in the barbwire. I had a pair of pliers & I struggled up the bank through the snow. I got one back leg out, but the pliers wouldn’t cut the fence. Lynette threw me the lug wrench & I was working to free the deer. Finally another car came by & the guy helped me free the deer.

A bit loud (and not so many people on this sheet in progress.

That is because the 2nd person to add was a bit over enthusiastic.. alcohol..

Though as you can see: a lot of positive energy generated.

This sheet was started in the city.. and then taken to the countryside..

That's how the butterfly came to land on it as well ;-)

And as to the reason for this sheet:

It is not an advert

for e.g. smoking weed

from dawn till dusk & beyond ; )

But rather to look into the many benefits of e.g. hemp (-food.)

E.g. the omega 3,6,9 rich hemp-milk that comes from the seeds.

You can find plenty of information about this on the internet.

www.youtube.com/results?search_query=hemp+milk&aq=f

Only one disclaimer: do never ever cook the seeds. That is less than healthy.

These cupcakes were created for the Pitt Bull Rescue of San Diego. They are chocolate cupcakes with green peanut butter frosting and handmade fondant doggies.

After yesterday's long delays, followed by our chaotic arrival at Coimbatore, we got to spend hardly any time in what would probably have been a delightful hotel, before we are hauled out of bed for the morning train on the Nilgiri Railway.
