"Save the Library" held a special presentation on Sunday afternoon, featuring Penny Watson, author of "Banknotes and Books for Bridgeton," who gave a presentation on the topic of her book. Shown above are Sally Garrison, chairperson of "Save the Library," Anne Feinstein, who received thanks for doing the graphic design of Watson's book, Penny Watson, and Joyce Cooper, STL committee member.

The only lighting used here is one SB-900 in the hotshot with a large Better Bounce Card, flash ev set to +1.0. There was some fairly dim ambient room light. I'm pretty satisfied.

The old B&M station at Rockingham Junction in Newfields, NH sat for many years rotting away. It is finally undergoing restoration, and will soon be a welcome sight at the end of the Rockingham County Rail Trail. The trail runs all the way from here to Manchester.

"Frank Tadros took several bullets in the chest in the late 1980s during

a holdup of a South Side convenience store where he worked.

That didn't scare him away. He continued to work in his family's

stores--and always kept a gun nearby.

The gun didn't save his life Tuesday night.

At about 4 p.m., the 42-year-old Jordan native was behind the counter of

his store, Save Way Liquor, when a gunman announced a robbery and

pointed a pistol at a clerk, police said.

Tadros pulled his 9mm Glock semiautomatic pistol from under the counter

and fired several shots at the robber. One of the robber's two

accomplices shot Tadros twice, police said. One shot hit his right

shoulder. The other went through his back and into his heart, killing

him.

'Father, I am dead!' Tadros exclaimed in Arabic, calling out to his

deceased father, his family said." -- thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1144629

4th, 5th, and 6th grade students in "BizTown" spend the year working on business-related projects, learning concepts dealing with community, finance, entrepreneurship, and basic business practices. The curriculum, developed by Junior Achievement USA©, culminates in a day-long economic simulation in which the students are able to put into practice the skills learned during the school year.

Save Union Terminal

In August 2014 the Hamilton County Commissioners voted to put on the ballot for this November a one-quarter of one percent sales tax increase that by law is limited to five years to fund the restoration of Cincinnati Union Terminal.

The tax would generate nearly $172 million in revenue-- and when it is combined with historic tax credits, contributions from the State of Ohio, and philanthropic fundraising efforts it will allow for the complete repair and restoration of Union Terminal.

Hamilton County residents will not be the only ones paying for this. The Economics Center at the University of Cincinnati analyzed and determined that approximately 47% of the sales tax collected in Hamilton County comes from people who live outside the county, thus relieving the tax burden on local residents.

Additionally, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported that the sales tax increase would cost the average resident just $23 per year. The Hamilton County Commissioners also put in the proposal that by law this increase would end after just five years.

The successful passage of Issue 8 will allow us to preserve Union Terminal and guarantee that it will continue to be an essential part of our region's great heritage. Future generations will benefit from our investment now-- ensuring that our children, and grandchildren, are able to enjoy Union Terminal.

Decades of time, outdated construction techniques and years of freezing and thawing have taken its toll on Union Terminal. But, repairs can be made to the exterior envelope of Union Terminal to prevent water damage and to the steel structures underneath, making the building fit for a very long time into our future. Additional repairs and renovations to outdated mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems will make Union Terminal more efficient and create more opportunities for activities within the building.

There are many ways to become involved with the campaign. First and foremost is to make sure you are registered to vote by October 6 and vote 'Yes' on Election Day, November 4th.

Haggard from the Battlefield: Bad Company series. This is a reference to one of his lines near the end of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 where he is convinced to stop the Russians from using their new high-tech weapon on the US by being told that if the Russians succeed, there won't be anymore Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, among other things.

Save-On Meats Building at West Hastings Street.

Tacheles is one of the coolest places on the planet. My friend Brian and I came here back in the 90s and we watched a guy shoot flames (with a flame thrower) 50 feet in the air while we sipped our drinks out of mason jars in the backyard. There was all kindsa crazy military art installations and graffiti.

Today, they are in danger of closing. The neighborhood has been gentrifying, and they are fighting to stay - unfortunately, it looks like they are losing the battle.
