SWT 444011 leaving Poole on 13.20 Weymouth to Waterloo and passing under the High Street footbridge constructed in 1872 by Ransomes and Napier. The level crossing is interesting as it in the High Street which is pedestrianised and so there is no vehicular traffic across it. But the crossing splits the shopping area in two and so at busy times there is always a throng of people either side - especially as the ancient footbridge has been closed by Network Rail - presumably pending refurbishment.

The Rabbi travelled on this unit with the intention of alighting at Templecombe. Since our last visit they have filled in and paved the former down line platform and passengers must now leave and enter trains only from the down side. The up platform has signs saying "This Platform Not In Use".
By the time we had worked this out, the train had started and we were carried on to Gillingham. The Templecombe footbridge is out of use much of the day and the iconic "Hornby Dublo" signalbox strangely silent.
Resignalling of this line has changed the landscape forever with the demise of many boxes, the proliferation of radio masts and huge LED signals bright enough to cheat the camera's auto-exposure system.
Snatched shot taken from the cab of an RM I was driving, looking at another. I was working meal reliefs at the SWT 75 celebrations held at Margam Park in 1989.The roads in Margam Park were quite narrow and vehicles had to pass each other quite slowly. Despite everything going on this is the only shot I was able to take before my camera packed-up.
