Between 31st August and 1st September major engineering work, in connection with the Thameslink project, closed London Bridge, Waterloo East and Charing Cross. During this time Mainline trains from Ramsgate via Tonbridge were diverted via Lewisham, Nunhead and the Linford Street curve to Waterloo (former international platforms 21-24). In reality the diversions only took place on three days as on the first day (Tuesday) engineering work at Waterloo overran and the International platforms were used by South West Trains services.
