South West Trains Siemens Desiro Class 450, 450127 accelerates away from Fratton with the 15.10 Fareham to Portsmouth & Southsea on June 30th 2013. The picture was taken from under the trees on Goldsmith Avenue, providing welcome shade from the sun on a blisteringly hot Sunday afternoon.

InnoTrans 2016 in Berlin: Class 707 von South West Trains (SWT), hergestellt von Siemens Mobility auf Basis des Desiro City, wurde auf der Messe als dreiteiliger Triebzug vorgestellt. Wenn ab 2017 im Großraum London die Züge im Regionalverkehr eingesetzt werden, sollen es 5-teilige Züge sein. Bestellt hat SWT insgesamt 30 Züge, die über eine Stromschiene mit 750 V Gleichspannung gespeist werden. Die Wagen sind klimatisiert und bieten WLAN. Eingesetzt sollen sie auf den Strecken zwischen London Waterloo Station und Windsor and Eton Riverside. Noch ein paar Daten: Baujahre 2016-2017, Spurweite 1435 mm, Höchstgeschwindigkeit 160 km/h, Traktionsleistung 1.600 kW, Fußbodenhöhe 1.100 mm
