A pair of SouthWest Trains Class 444 'Desiro' units make their way along Christchurch bank operating a Waterloo to Weymouth service.
SWT trains Desiro unit no. 444014 pauses in the sun at Eastleigh having just arrived on a terminating service on 6th may 2018. You would have to search high and low to find a less attractive platform building than the one that sits on the southern half of this platform. The pre-cast concrete monolith dates back to the rebuilding works that took place when electric services were introduced here on the elimination of SR steam in 1967. Such a shame as the original buildings on platform 1 and the footbridge are so attractive by comparison
May 1980 and one of my favoured buses of all time a 30ft Willowbrook bodied AEC Regent V of South Wales Transport. But which one?, perhaps the mismatched door can give a clue.
Long lost ex South Wales Transport, AEC Bridgemaster, UCY 837, with rear entance Park Royal body. The AEC had been left in the yard of Denyer's Coaches in Essex, although in quite a bad state the bus was returned to South Wales.
New to South Wales Transport in 1972, Marshall bodied A.E.C. Reliance 466 (BWN 466K) is seen at The Quadrant bus station, Swansea on the19th of December 1981. This must have been one of the last Reliances to operate with SWT.
It's hard to get out of the mud when someone is trying to sit on you. These are some of the orphans who are being raised at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's Nairobi Nursery. The nursery is where the orphaned baby elephants are initially brought to be raised among other orphans as well as by their amazing keepers. They remain in the nursery until they are old enough and ready to move up to one of the Reintegration units where they will eventually return to the wild. The SWT has a wonderful foster program where you can "adopt" an orphan (or two) www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/

Aboard 444021 working 1W20 1303 Weymouth to London Waterloo. First Class was almost full but was definitely worth the £5 upgrade. The seats are very comfortable and once reclined, it's rather difficult not to fall asleep!
