About to pass from Dorset (left) and into Hampshire (right) 1W61 10:05 Waterloo - Weymouth heads along Christchurch bank near Somerford, a district of Christchurch, formed of 444025. Prior to 1974 Christchurch, and neighbouring Bournemouth, was in Hampshire, the Dorset / Hampshire boundary being just west of Bournemouth towards Branksome.

My final shot of 2013, and it's of 159020 passing Sherrington operating 1O48 12:51 Bristol to Salisbury. Recent heavy rain had recently passed, and the sun appeared to illuminate not only this scene, but the previous two diverted Freightliners. A good end to 2013 (in my opinion).

Although South Western Railway guards were mounting a 27-day strike, lead by the RMT union, during December 2019, a reduced level of service was still being maintained by the company. The Bournemouth to Weymouth line was running an hourly shuttle service and 444044 approaches Wool operating 2W12 11:03 Weymouth - Bournemouth under some great winter light.

Running alongside an unusually traffic-free Western Esplanade, South West Trains Siemens Desiro 444022 was arriving at Southampton whilst leading the 16.35 London Waterloo to Bournemouth/Weymouth service on July 8th 2011.

The ex-Shearings/Wallace Arnold Volvo has been regular on the Penllergaer-Pontarddulais Comprehensive School run since she arrived nearly 2 years back now. Here she is picking up at the top of Llewellyn Rd "Batchy's Hill" this morning. Those two houses just there stand where there was once a chemists shop. There are 3 modern surgeries in Gorseinon now though in those days going to the doctors meant a visit to a little hut on the edge of the village green. Just rearwards of where the coach is there's a lane which takes you to where the Penllergaer Boy's Club once was.I remember it being used for elections back in the 70's though the building was gone by the 80's.Same the two rows of council garages that were down there too.Someone bought the land and a lovely new bungalow sits down there now.

Stood in Hampshire, photographing a train in Dorset. In the foreground is the River Mude, which runs into Christchurch Harbour at Mudeford. The boundary between Hampshire and Dorset is the opposite side of the river at the boundary with the field. Prior to 1974 this would have been solely in Hampshire, the Dorset border prior to 1974 lying between Bournemouth and Poole. In the distance a SouthWest Trains liveried Class 444 units heads along Christchurch bank, to the west of Hinton Admiral, heading for Waterloo (to the right).
