Easter is the apex of the Church's liturgical year and is the solemnity upon which the rest of the year revolves. It was on the first Easter Sunday that the Lord's disciples discovered the empty tomb, indicating that Christ had risen from the dead.

By His Resurrection Jesus Christ triumphed over death, paid the debt that came through the sin of Adam, and thus opened the gates of Heaven to mankind. Thus, the Lord's Resurrection on Easter thus marks the turning point in salvation history.

It is for this reason that Christians have great reason to rejoice in the new life brought to us by the Risen Savior. Salvation has come at last! For this reason, the Church resumes the use of the word "alleluia" which is said with even greater frequency and fervor for the rest of the fifty days of the Easter season, also known as 'Paschaltide.'

The Resurrection of Jesus Christ is no mere historical event relegated to history but a living reality which Christians experience again and again each year. It is an ever ancient and ever new mystery that is re-presented each year. May all discover and receive the new life to be found in the Risen Savior.

Sunday morning is not complete here without a visit to Rusty's Market in Cairns. Yes, a lot of the fruit and veg is brought in from down south, but the atmosphere is still awesome!

Sunday morning and Sasha is sleeping in, I think she over did it visiting the neighborhood kids yesterday. The kids were so glad to see Sasha up and walking again. She stayed asleep this morning while I quickly grabbed the softbox and the camera and snapped a few pictures. It’s not raining yet so I better start on the backyard soon. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Early on Sunday morning. After the waiting line, a lovely cowgirl with dolls was spotted at the coffee place. The line was growing and my friends and I were having a rest after a short night.

i have been taking less and less digital pictures lately, and have been focusing all of my attention on learning how to use my manual SLR. it reminds me of why i love photography in the first place, the experimentation, the burning inside of me to get a roll of film developed, that anxiousness to see how things turned out, learning. i cannot wait to see how this roll turns out. but for now......

Some fellow lounging about on a museum sofa, the same way the occassional Sunday ought to be spent!

Sunday is the day of the week between Saturday and Monday. It has traditionally been the first day of the week, but from the mid-twentieth century it is regarded as the seventh day of the civil calendar week.

Sunday is named after Sunna (Sól), Germanic goddess of the sun, from which the word sun also is derived. The practice of naming the seven days after the ten known "planets" goes back to Babylonian or Egyptian times and was adopted by Greeks and Romans.

Sunday is considered a non-working day in many countries of the world, and are part of "the weekend". Countries predominantly influenced by Jewish or Islamic religions have Friday or Saturday as a weekly non-working day instead.

For Remembrance Sunday, I've posted a photo of my grandfather outside an artfully camouflaged shed, perhaps an out house to a house or farmhouse where he was billeted. I suspect that this was taken in 1914-15. My grandfather may have been writing one of the postcards I have been uploading recently.
