This is a blend of three exposures of Bamburgh Castle, taken from the rocky outcrop at the far end of the beach.
Saturday morning in Christchurch and we set off to visit our friend in Darfield (near the foot of New Zealand's towering Southern Alps).
But first, we planned to visit Springfield (some 20 miles closer to those mountains), have a something to eat in the station's cafe, and then drive up to and over Porter's Pass...
Springfield... where the high-speed running across the Plains stops and heavy trains - the popular TranzAlpine and trains hauling empty coal wagons back to the coalfields of the West Coast - begin their hard slog up into the mountains...
Springfield... a very small village with a small collections of cafes, a petrol station, a general store, a hotel and not much more... except spectacular mountain scenery!
Thanks so much for visiting my Site, and thanks especially for taking the time and trouble to leave a Comment; it's always nice to hear from you...!

An intense and breathtaking autumn sunset taken from the edge of a neighborhood still being built, and being reflected in a large puddle from recent rains.
View On Black to truly appreciate the colours.
On the 14th day of our 20-day trek to the north and south sides of Kangchenjunga, we left our camp at Lhonak (elevation 4,765 m, 15,633 ft.) and climbed eastward along the north side of the Kangchenjunga Glacier some 7.8 km (4.8 mi.) to Pangpema, the Kangchenjunga North Base Camp (elevation 5,140 m; 16,864 ft.). In this view looking south-southeast from just east of our Pangpema camp at an elevation of 5,180 m (16,995 ft.), fierce wind blows spindrift off the triangular summit of Kangchenjunga (8,586 m, 28,169 ft.), the third highest peak on earth, left of center. The rounded summit to the right of Kangchenjunga is Yalung Kang (aka Kangchenjuga West, 8,505 m, 27,904 ft.). Kambache (aka Kangbachen, 7,903 m, 25,928 ft.) is the next peak on the horizon further right. The peak named The Twins (7,350 m, 24,114 ft.) is seen at left. The Twins and Kangchenjunga lie on the border with the Indian state of Sikkim.
The dancing light from Marina Bay Sands happens every night. One of the best vantage point to enjoy the show is from Merlion Park.
Chrysanthemum: the big blooms are often duo toned, collectively known as kotengiku or antique chrysanthemums.
However, this looks like a new variety, NEVER saw these before.
Have a blooming time, filled with love and beauty, M, (*_*)

This is my last photo of Mardin. I made many many more here, but the journey has to continue.
We will first bring a visit to the Deyrulzafaran Monastery, then we drive to Diyarbakır, a large city with a population of which more then 90% is Kurdish.
We will bring a visit also to the famous Nemrut Dağı, a 2150 m. high mountain in southeastern Turkey, notable for the summit where a number of large statues are erected around what is assumed to be a royal tomb from the 1st century BC. It is referred as the pantheon of the Armenian gods.
From there we will visit Şanlıurfa (also named Urfa) nearby the city Kobani in Syria which is so badly in the news today. We will also visit Harran, the place where Abraham should have lived, nearly on the border with Syria.
And there will be more. Let yourself be surprised......

This spectacular hummingbird was only discovered in 2017, and made headlines when it was described as a new species to science a year later. It is currently known only from one mountain in the Andes of southwestern Ecuador called Cerro de Arcos.
Male’s entirely blue throat separates it from the otherwise similar Ecuadorian Hillstar, which does not overlap in range. Female is much duller than male, with greenish upperparts, brownish belly, and green speckles on the throat. Found in paramo at very high elevations, where it feeds on Chuquiraga flowers, which are orange and shaped like tiny pine cones.
This one was photographed in Ecuador guided by Neotropic Photo Tours.
I knew before I even took this photo that it would probably end up looking like sh*t.
Some of my most magical moments in the Knysna forest have (sadly) also been some of the most difficult moments to capture with my camera. It's all thanks to those spectacular "specular" highlights.
Wikipedia defines them most succinctly - "A specular highlight is the bright spot of light that appears on shiny objects when illuminated". Forest photos might be fairly easy to capture on overcast (dull) days, but I still believe that "easier is almost never better".
There are only two rules that I will never break when capturing (and editing) any of my photos; There will never be any pure-black pixels in my final image... and there should also never be any pure-white pixels. Everything in-between is debateable.
Since it is always much easier to recover details from the darker parts of your photos than from the brightest areas, I always make sure that I never over-expose any specular highlights when capturing any of my photos.
I have a pretty good camera, so I do expect pretty good results from it. But even the best professional cameras on the market (excluding smartphones (of course)), are still unable to capture the full dynamic range of light that our eyes can process.
This photo (which was edited in Photoshop) isn't exactly what I can remember seeing at the time... but it's as close as I'm going to get... for now.

Taken from our condominium's balcony. For a few seconds, this spectacular ray of lights could be seen as the magic mother nature could offer. Never again we would see the same scenario. I was so lucky to capture such magical moment .
