Serendipity: la fortuna di fare felici scoperte per puro caso, trovando una cosa non cercata e imprevista mentre se ne stava cercando un'altra.
A small part of Morro Rock,
Morro Bay, California
I had been watching sea otters in the bay just before sunrise when I turned around to see this sight. I love when that happens.
There are times when I stumble upon something I wasn't even aware I've always wanted to see. Of course, I didn't think for a moment that I was the first one to stumble upon these water lilies nor was this my first time to see water lilies. But what I have to keep in mind is that a serendipitous discovery doesn't always mean seeing something for the first time - it can also mean seeing something in a new and unexpected way.

"As human beings, our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has- or ever will have- something inside that is unique to all time. It's our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression." -Mister Rogers
Often the subject of intense speculation and heady anticipation in railfan circles, business trains are among the rarest sights on the rails. Despite this, I've still somehow managed to snag pictures of two over the years, both by complete accident.
Driving to Whistler for an unrelated trip in August 2019, my radio picked up CN 3224 south announcing its approach to Mile 25. Never one to pass up a train, I set up at Brunswick Beach (~Mile 20), and imagine my surprise to see the classy dark green and yellow of the CN business train! Hell yea.
I captured this colorful cardinal perched on a bush right outside our kitchen window. He fluttered in and stayed just long enough for me to grab my camera and take three quick shots through the glass before he flew away. He turned sideways and gave me a nice profile view before he departed.
Sometimes you just get lucky.
I happened upon this collection of leaves in a fence (I did not arrange them), pure serendipity. The fence was randomly covered with leaves so it may be that someone before me had placed them!
Large View, here.
Conditioning hikes certainly aren't the most exciting way to spend a few hours, but every once in a while you stumble on a moment like this. I'm loving all the vibrant green around here now that we've emerged from winter!

Serendipity is one of my favorite words and it used to be the name of Sri Lanka, one of my favorite places. The little gem of an island is off the coast of India so when I was in India I was reminded of the several trips I have made to Sri Lanka. There are major differences so one should not miss either of them if you are a re traveller.
This stupa is symbolic of Sri Lankan Buddhism which is more of a religious force on the island than Hinduism. There is an area of Sri Lanka which is home to the ancient cities and this is one of many white stupas in the area.
The ancient cities are very impressive. They had mastered the art of conserving rain water in reservoirs and had a system of sanitation 2000 years ago!

Someone defined the word serendipity as “good luck in making unexpected and fortunate discoveries.” The photo of this eagle would be a good illustration to place by the word in a dictionary.
Just about a mile out of our town and less than a mile from Cub Foods, a tar road runs through and divides a large wetland pond into two parts. In one corner of the largest pond, a stand of trees and tall reeds serves as a background which multiples of species of birds find handy to nest and use as a temporary rest stop before skimming the water for insects or other nourishment.
At some point of time, a dead tree limb fell into the water a few feet from shore. Over the last half dozen years, my wife and I have passed this spot hundreds of times, usually several times or more each week. On hot days, turtles love to crawl up on the log to help regulate their body temperature. Occasionally early in the spring, wood ducks will sit and sun themselves until they see us coming and then gracefully slide into the water and swim away.
Early one morning last week when we were about a quarter of a mile away and slowly approaching the ponds, I spotted a white dot against the green background and remarked to my wife that I thought that might be an eagle. Sure enough, it was.
This was the first time we had ever seen an eagle perched on the log and as my wife steered our vehicle, I hung out the window and took a few shots. This particular photograph was taken from about a dozen yards away. The eagle never left the log as we slowly drove by.
It was one of the serendipity moments in life that leave an impression.

This is a bench a few yards away from the holiday cottage we'd booked for this year's summer holiday on Île de Ré, France . The other day we received an email from the proprietor informing us that it would be santitised etc etc for our arrival but a no -brainer for us given that we'd have to self isolate for the two weeks we were there and the same when we arrived home. We believed we'd stand to lose our money if we'd cancelled it ourself . However a chance conversation with the pharmacist that Huw went to this afternoon to pick up antibiotics for me after an emergency call to my GP told us it's not so - how were we to know that the pharmacist had already cancelled her own holiday here ?
A view of where we were to stay just to the left of the second boat in the comment box..
Another practice on photography in SL and post-editing in Photoshop. Today I had the happy task to shoot my RL mom's new profile picture <3

I was supposed to be taking photos of the written word for the Sensational Snap Society. I ended up reverting to type and taking bokeh shots of plants. This one was an overexposed mistake, but I think it has a certain...something

I would like to be able to say that I planned this shot but the truth is otherwise. The ambient light was low so I needed a slow shutter speed to get the depth of field I wanted. Having no tripod, I lay the camera against the first of these “monoliths” outside Royal Bank Plaza in Toronto. It was only when I checked the image afterward that I saw that I had captured the reflection as well.
Thank you for viewing this image.

I wish I had a better picture, because I´m sooooooooo happy and this image doesn´t show that.
You are the one
Another day passes by and I'm dreaming of you
And though I know it might be just a dream, dreams do come true
Somewhere, somehow I'll find you
Even though it takes all of my life (All of my life, yeah)
And when I'll finally do (And when I'll finally do)
I know inside my heart (I know inside my heart)
That there could be no doubt, I knew it from the start
Chorus:
(You are the one) You are the one
That I've been searching for my whole life through
(You are the one) You are the one
That I've been looking for and now that I found you
I'll never let you go, I'll hold you in my arms
Cause you are the one
Yeah...
Another night spent alone I'm lying in the dark (Lying in the dark)
Don't know your name but I know that voice sings to my heart
A sweet melody, A symphony of love
I know that come one day (I know that come one day)
A time for you and me (A time for you and me)
To finally meet together, Coz I know we're meant to be
(CHORUS)
Forever has been perfect now you're here with me
here by my side here in my arms
I'll ver let you go
I'll hold you in my arms
You are the one
That I've been searching for my whole life through
(you are the one)
You are the one
That I've been looking for and now that I found you
I'll never let you go, I'll hold you in my arms
Cause you are the one
You are the one
You are the one
Ooh...

I have been off for a few days so I will be catching up on your photo streams and comments. ;)
I was out with Tre this morning trying to find "the perfect" violet to photograph. I looked over to my left at a clover patch and thought " no, that can't be a four leaf clover? " !. But it was!! All of those billions of clover fields I had intentionally looked through and in a moment of looking for something else all it took was a glance to the side. Message received . :)
Hope everyone has a beautiful weekend.
serendipity |ˌserənˈdipitē|
noun
the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way : a fortunate stroke of serendipity | a series of small serendipities.
little heart-shaped bit of the early morning light appeared all by itself right before me while I was talking on the telephone with the love of my life...
During my latest trip this last weekend, I came across this beauty. Insert heart palpitations.

Pablo Picasso decía: -No busco, encuentro”.
