I wish my life was as serendipitous as my Flickr participation. So often something perfect arrives just in time for a project or a theme. Like these leaves: Received a present last weekend in the shape of a bottle of Cava with golden leaves draped around it. Bingo!
Hoy recuerdo un tiempo en que algunos amigos publicábamos una fotografía bajo el título "lunes con flor y un bicho". Esa agradable costumbre se detuvo cuando, por uno u otro motivo, nos apeamos unos temporalmente y otros definitivamente de Flickr´. Nuestras imágenes, como la de hoy lunes, plasmaban hallazgos valiosos que se producían de manera accidental o casual, lo que viene a ser una serendipia. Supongo que para esta hormiga tan valiente de la imagen, el encuentro con el abejorro sobre la flor fue también una sorpresa casual, como lo fue para mi captar el momento.
Encontrar en redes sociales a gente con buenas imágenes y reflexiones interesantes es también poco habitual, casual pero valioso, una serendipia.

Today I remember a time when some friends published a photograph under the title "Monday with a flower and a bug". That pleasant habit stopped when, for one reason or another, some of us got off temporarily and others permanently from Flickr´. Our images, like today's Monday, captured valuable discoveries that were produced accidentally or casually, which amounts to a serendipity. I suppose that for this brave ant in the image, the encounter with the bumblebee on the flower was also a casual surprise, as it was for me to capture the moment.
Finding people with good images and interesting reflections on social networks is also unusual, casual and valuable, a serendipity.

I took this picture a couple of years ago and it was somewhat underexposed in camera. I've learned a lot editing wise, and camera related thankfully, and here's a re-edit of that shot
Sunrise, North Cascades, Washington
I am spending the weekend up in the northern part of Washington, to hike in the North Cascades. Yesterday morning I was driving along the North Cascades Highway to the trailhead in the early morning. The dark gradually began to lift as the day awakened. I could see fog covering the mountains in the higher elevations so I wasn’t sure if there would be a sunrise to see.
But as I drove over a bridge I caught a glimpse of color in the sky. It disappeared as I wound through a series of curves in the road but as I came to a straight section, the sky was suddenly awash with the hues of dawn.
I whispered a reverential “wow” of astonishment to myself as the splendorous scene unfolded in front of me. And then I really got lucky - just a few minutes later a roadside pullout appeared so I was able to park and get out of my car to watch the rest of the sunrise and take a few photos. Surprisingly, only one other person stopped to see this glorious sunrise so I was nearly alone with the morning as it blanketed the mountains with its warmth and light.
I made a bit of exploring today and i captured such an amazing sim like Isle of Serendipity <333

I've used this particular photo - another of my very many Garden Centre ones as I don't have a garden myself! - several times before as the basis of some of my artworks over the past few years. As a matter of interest, you may like to see part of the original photo I took in the 2nd comment box below. For some reason unknown to me, this particular photo lends itself to being recoloured and manipulated no end! :-)
I created the background texture in this artwork from a more recent photo taken last week.

I thought I'd finished the Windermere images but forgot I swapped over cards. I had a nagging feeling I'd taken more so pleasantly surprised to find another pano and a couple more images. Taken on our walk back to Waterhead from Holme Crag.
Had another pleasant surprise over the weekend. A friend I've known for over 30 years and who was in all the same sets as me in school has just been appointed 'RED 10,' in the Red Arrows. He'd been training the next generation of pilots out of Valley for a few years and the standing joke is that he 'Ain't even Maverick, he's bloody Jester!'
Odd feeling but I feel super proud to know him and to see him doing so well. Every time I see the T2 Hawks whilst in the Lakes I always wonder if he's flying. 'RED 10' is the Red Arrows Safety Supervisor and is also the public face for them and provides the commentary at displays. He is also responsible for flying the Red Arrows photographers. Highly doubt it but it wouldn't do any harm to ask if I could cadge a lift at some point!

Long exposure with ND400 filter at sunset - Sandown Bay, Isle of Wight. The outfall pipe provides the unusual object which has it's base revealed due to the very low tide.
Serendipity? - I wanted to take this 'minimalist' style of photo but I didn't think the opportunity would arise on such a very busy weekend.

I went to the Robert C Levy Tunnel (also called Broadway Tunnel) in San Francisco with the intent to do long exposures of cars in the tunnel. Those photos did not turn out that well. Walking back towards the exit I noticed the reflections in the tiled wall. Perfect serendipity!
I took a long exposure, then processed a balanced HDR photo from it.

This woman grabbed my attention immediately. She was walking along the empty dock under the rain and stopped in that perfect position for me to steal a photo out of her. I want to believe she will not be mad I'm a thief.
There is a bit of color processing, but that umbrella did really stand out as much as it looks in the photo.
A fortunate stroke of serendipity.
