Elegant Epiphany venue

Something about an ex Southern geep with the long hood forward just seems right. With less than a dozen cars, this local has no problem making track speed as it smashes through a control point guarded by some old Wabash hardware.

Us four Wisconsin boys just happened to stumble upon this little geep in Central Missouri heading west light power. This turned into a nice play later in the morning with the intense chase east producing a handful of solid frames deep in unfamiliar territory.

This is why you carry your camera with you at all times. I was getting the mail and the full moon was setting itself up in the evening sky. Just then, a flock of seagulls made their way across the sky.

I am a happy photographer tonight.

I never had any idea that Great Blue Herons ate snakes until today!! Yes they do...and yes he did...After playing with his food first.

"Life is full of surprises and serendipity. Being open to unexpected turns in the road is an important part of success. If you try to plan every step, you may miss those wonderful twists and turns. Just find your next adventure-do it well, enjoy it-and then, not now, think about what comes next."

(oh! and the mourning dove on the roof, is the mate to the one nesting in the speaker... which is under the eaves, to the left of the door all the way to the right.)

Thanks Amelia for the title:)

Amina and I went to the FUH-REAZING park in dresses. I was so cold I could feel my teeth and gums hurting.

But it was worth it;) I couldn't decide though, between this one and another one. I'll post it in the comment...

Cybernetic Serendipity: Desmond Paul Henry

Meet Serendipity. She is one of the most beloved figures at the Renaissance Faire. She NEVER breaks character, and children adore her, as she blows her bubbles and brings joy to all who grace her presence. As you all know, I rarely photograph people, but her beauty and playfulness inspires me.

Winter season on Kauai translates to large ocean swells and slightly cooler temperatures. When the first large swell passed through the islands I embarked on my inaugural wave hunting expedition. It's a tricky dance of timing, being patient, and juggling settings on the camera. Every wave that explodes into the air is uniquely defined by its environment.

Words about words... A few thoughts about serendipity on the blog if you have a moment.

Interference lines on a couple of 22mm square microscope coverslips create a micro rainbow when viewed at an acute angle.

I'd set up at daylight to photo bucks and got a couple. As the sun got high, I moved to another location and set up on a big greenbriar patch to photo birds when this buck walked right out in front of me. Our beautiful world, pass it on.

I was photographing the seedheads back lit by the sun and did not see the web until later when I downloaded the image. Image is SOOC.

When Erik and I visited the poplar tree farm last spring, I asked him to hold a book for me. He opened to a random page... and later I discovered that, perched at the end of the first full paragraph on the left page, were the words "many fires".

But I suppose stranger things have happened...

- Parque das Nações, Lisbon, Portugal -

I would like to be able to claim that I purposely took this photo just as the tram was intersected by one of the poles and the seagull was 'punctuating' the mast of the sailboat but it wouldn't be true. They say "luck comes to the prepared" but I'm quite sure that isn't it either. In any case, there was something about the 'geometry' of the scene that appealed to me.

First, THIS DID NOT REALLY HAPPEN--it is a composite of several bursts over 7-8 minutes. Also, I don't know that these were legal. The official fireworks were in Cayucos, a couple miles behind me. I had had a "good idea" for a vantage point of those fireworks, but it didn't work out. So, not wanting to buck crowds at the last minute, I was actually on my way home, before the official fireworks began, when I saw a burst at this site and stopped to get the camera out. Serendipity! The serendipity had actually begun earlier in the day, as the persistent fog over the past days didn't begin to clear till mid-afternoon. And who knew how long the clearing would last.

This little café / general store / restaurant was made famous in the award winning 2001 romantic comedy 'Serendipity', featuring Kate Beckinsale & John Cusak. The word 'serendipity' bears the meaning of 'things that happen for a reason', sometimes also called 'Fate'. This movie depicts quite well this concept (something I believe in also) with a good serving of comedy.

So, while on one of my trips to NYC, I made a stop on E-60th Street to check out the food & atmosphere of this quaint shop. Their dishes were delightfull & 'Frozen Hot Chocolate' was well worth the wait.

Late in the day on a recent shoot, the light from the setting sun cast a beautiful glow on one small section of the pond where we were photographing.

As serendipity would have it, this female Golden-fronted Woodpecker descended to have a drink, right in the sweet spot of that color.

Eisley wearing a tinybear wig in Tangerine Dream. This shot really lets you see all the great color variations of the wig, along with Eisley's mega-cute profile.

'Serendipity' adequately describes this photo. It was a sheer chance to find this during a walk in Brugge and even happier to have gotten a good click!

The word "serendipity" was coined by Horace Walpole, who explained that he was inspired by "a silly fairy tale, called The Three Princes of Serendip: as their highnesses traveled, they were always making discoveries, by accidents and sagacity, of things which they were not in quest of..."
