This is the pumpkin that we found. As in found in the foliage, like this :-D

Oh yeah, my Rolleiflex SL66 is back from surgery in Germany and is now good as new :-D

I keep an eye on the pillar box outside our village Post Office, because there’s often a ‘Yarn Bombing’ on it and these creations fascinate me, and they’re always worth taking a shot or two of. And yes, there’s a new one there now, imaginative and creative as usual! This latest one features a bevy of mermaids gathered around a lighthouse on a rocky island in the sea, and as I sized up the shot, it suddenly struck me that the sea was made of blue netting, and that the theme for the Saturday self-challenge for 2nd August is ‘nets and meshes’! So even as I was taking a ‘Yarn Bombing’ shot I realised I was taking my SSC shot for the week at the same time!

(Since the shot was taken on a Tuesday, it looks like they forgot to change the ‘Next Collection’ badge the day before - or wasn’t the mail collected?)

Another scene Gail and I found when we got lost.

A couple of weeks ago Gail and I were heading up to the Caledon Rail Trail for a bike ride. We got talking and weren't paying attention and missed the trail, driving too far north. Luckily we found some beautiful scenery to photograph and didn't mind the detour.

Siempre se ha creído que existe algo que se llama destino, pero siempre se ha creído también que hay otra cosa que se llama albedrío. lo que califica al hombre es el equilibrio de esa contradicción.

My brother, his friend, and I explored parts of Lake Louisa Park and got some amazing shots. One of them was this, taken from my perspective of my brother, Nyi, capturing his picture respectively titled Splash! . I'm glad the weather conditions were perfect and discovered this location because the shoreline of Lake Louisa is so nice and pleasant. Definitely, looking forward to going back!

The Seven Sisters chalk cliffs from Cuckmere Haven.

After a rather dismal sunrise, while crawling back up the hill from the shore to the car park, this hot air balloon suddenly appeared overhead. These balloons move pretty slowly in the still morning air, but when you have packed your kit away, are exhausted, and in a panic mode to capture the scene, they suddenly seem to move much faster! I took a shot that I posted some while ago, but this one has sat on my hard disk and always niggled at me that the fortuitous combination of sun rays, balloon and early light was too much to neglect, so here it is!

Some things just look better upside down. The water is the sky and the sky is the water...or so it seems. Discovered by accident, of course. Wake Forest, North Carolina. USA

A moment of 'gasp'....looking up through the umbrellas on the patio where I had lunch....fabulous color contrast, geometric lines and shadows....Sister's Oregon

Traveling down I-40 in Tennessee and noting trains in Crab Orchard, diving down the off ramp, the reward was several L'hoist North American Engines. GE B23-7s several one being 4023, an ex-SOU locomotive. Wish I could have caught it moving.

It's funny how wildlife can sometimes pop up when you least expect it. We'd spent the better part of a week looking for otters on and around The Isle of Skye (with very little success) only for this one to pop up close to the shore as we waited for a ferry to take us across to The Isle of Mull.

Taken at Lochaline, Morvern. Western Scotland.

Winter light play and luck.

Amazing light from high in the Appalachian Mountains. Such a memorable experience...

this was probably the best moment of our Prague trip. I was walking through the city alone and all frustrated, because I just wanted to find a nice cafe or something where I could sit, chill out and write a few postcards, maybe, but I was just running around in circles, always ending up in streets I had already been to. I thought where on earth are all the nice hidden places that are supposed to be in Prague? that's probably the thing about hidden places, you can't really find them easily. so then I would just walk into that little street and there it was, this cozy, calm and inspiring place. the furniture was a nice mix of flea market and antique, but in a non-pretentious, non-hipster way and there were about 200 types of tea to choose from, with just their names listed, no descriptions. finding this place felt like Harry Potter must have felt when he found the room of requirement. :D

excuse my novel.

there's a few more in comments.

and I've made blog posts from our prague trip, you can find them here: part 1, part 2, part 3. these are mainly for my personal record, so don't expect only good photos.

SERENDIPITY:

Wrong place, wrong time of day, an unexpected treasure.
