One morning I got up very early in my hometown Schuders in the Swiss Alps, and hiked up the mountain. The sun rose behind the Sulzfluh when I was half way up.
in summer of 2021. On the way home I passed by nearby Grüsch, which has neatly arranged barns in a field.
I processed a balanced, a paintery, and a photographic HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Jet lagged, I woke up early, and started an early hike up the mountain from my hometown Schuders, located in the Swiss Alps near the Austrian border. I reached the top of the mountain ridge shortly after sunrise. Behind the rocky mountain range in the back is Austria.
I processed a realistic, a photographic, and a paintery HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Picture of one of the streets of Getaria, with the church of San Salvador in the background of the image. In this fishing village, the sailor Juan Sebastián Elcano or the designer Cristóbal Balenciaga were born. The Gothic church dates from the 14th century, but a large part of it was built in the 16th and 18th centuries.
For the shot, I took three photographs, with different exhibitions, so that the sky would not be burned out, nor the very dark buildings. Later, I put them together as an edition.

This was the furthest thing from a formal shoot! I was riding my bicycle one evening north of Boulder, Colorado, just past the Boulder Reservoir on a dirt road, and came upon the Eagle Trailhead. I was, as usual, carrying my a6000 stashed in the back pocket of my cycling jersey. Particularly in the fall, I love to range around the endless backroads along the Colorado Front Range near my hometown exploring for interesting evening photo ops.
As I ventured on my road bike down this flat, well-groomed trail that was completely new to me, I was excited when I came over a small rise to suddenly be perched above a spectacular hidden valley, with beautiful long evening shadows reaching out from the trees. Not only that, but there was also a small lake near the trail in the valley, where I spotted a horse and couple people chatting nearby. With the sun to soon drop behind the ridgeline, I quickly forgot all other thoughts of less interesting subjects and decended the steep section of trail to introduce myself to this wonderful woman, Marianne, the owner of Starbuck, who happens herself to be a professional portrait photographer. Much to my delight, she graciously agreed to pose with Starbuck for a few shots, while her friend and Spaniel waited nearby. Besides being a gorgeous horse, sweet Starbuck also shakes and hugs on command!
This shot is one of my favorites from this brief impromtu session. What splendid synchronicity! I hope you enjoy it!

Recently I went to a networking event at Vodafone in Redwood Shores, California. After the event I stopped at the nearby Oracle headquarters. The main Oracle buildings looking like giant hard disk drives. They have the Oracle Team USA 17 boat on display, which won the 33rd America's Cup in 2010. It is a trimaran with an overall length of 113-foot (34 m).

Yesterday we went to the Pfeiffer Beach in Big Sur, California. We stayed late to enjoy the blue hour. I took this long exposure of the rock with keyhole one hour after sunset. I love the strong blue tones contrasting with the softer warmer tones at the horizon.

After dinner in Las Vegas, Nevada, I took my photo gear and walked over to the Cleveland Clinic. This building has a very unique architecture. This part of the building is a big hall. There was a party going on inside, hence the blue and purple lights.

In 2021 we drove east on the ring road until we reached the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, located in the south-eastern region of Iceland. The lagoon is at the foot of a giant glacier. The Glacier is constantly calving ice, and the ice leaves the lagoon in a river that ends up in the ocean. The ice gets dispersed in the sea. When the tide gets lower, some of the ice gets stranded on the aptly named Diamond Beach next to the river. The ice is melting and forms interesting sculptures. At 1 am at night I placed an LED light behind this ice rock. It never gets dark at night at that high latitude in summer.
I processed a photographic and a paintery HDR photo from a RAW exposure, blended them selectively, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, and desaturated the image. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

A lot of traffic passes on the new bay bridge opened in September 2013, while the old iron bridge is slowly getting dismantled. The Oakland side of the bay bridge is all new, while the San Francisco side of the bridge is illuminated by beautiful LED lights since March 2013.
The 13 sec exposure makes the night sky visible, and the HDR processing enhances the micro-contrast on the bridge.

Seyðisfjörður is a remote fisherman village in the far east of Iceland. It is accessible by a mountain pass road that is open only in summer. We traveled by night to get good light for photography, and slept in the morning. We arrived at the picturesque town at around 3:30 in the early morning for sunrise. The center has a nice colorful footpath leading to the church.

In November 2021 I was invited to take photos of a big rocket launch by a space startup in the Mojave Desert in California. I took the opportunity to travel that region. On Sunday I drove up north on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Near Bishop is a small Alpine lake called North Lake. The trees already lost the leaves at this time of the year, so no fall colors. There was no wind, so the lake was very calm, perfect for a reflection shot.

The Golden Gate Bridge never gets old, I could admire it for hours. I climbed up a hill on the North side to get this unique vantage point of the bridge and highway intersection.

On a night before crossing the Golden Gate bridge heading home, I headed down to the Horseshoe Bay. There is a pier where people like to party and fish at night, with a nice view of San Francisco.
