This hummingbird has hidden beauty. Mostly simple green but with white puffy boots and a brilliantly coloured vent they show off on occasion!

Here is a hot springs pool. I used a polarizing filter to cut down on the reflection so you can see deep into the pool which is located in the biscuit basin section of Yellowstone NP.The pool is approx. 30 feet deep and the water tempature is 200F degrees.

A lovely contrast between the soft blue of the delicate butterfly and the hard, crushed stone of the railway ballast.

I was hit by a terrible no good splitting headache midday today and had to fight it off with a copious amount of Advil, so needless to say I was not very motivated to shoot today.

Even looking through the viewfinder was causing sharp stabbing pains, so I opted for a very quick shot of this morning glory past it's prime.

Anyway, hope everyone has had a good day.

Contemplating the glittering sapphire colored lake Ibon Tebarray … This was mentally the most challenging day of our Pyrenees trek as it required the crossing of a notoriously difficult pass Col de Tebarray. We hiked up the rocky slopes from Refugio Bachimania past gorgeous blue lakes (Ibon Azul Inferior and Superior) flanked by the golden slopes of numerous peaks that rose in profusion all around. The trail was rocky and sometimes hard to find. This photo is from a smaller pass Cuello de Infierno, with the lovely Ibon Tebarray surrounded by the Picos de Infierno to the left and Pico de Tebarray straight ahead. The strong gusty winds made it almost impossible to hold the (iPhone) camera steady, but we also managed to have some lunch sheltering behind a large rock. This was but a prelude to the most challenging pass crossing. You can see the trail snaking onto the boulder strewn scree slopes on the right, and then it ends abruptly below the pass (a whitish gash below a notch on the right of the triangular peak). The crossing of Col de Tebarray involved climbing / scrambling up a steep, almost vertical rocky channel to reach the windy heights of the narrow Col and then a ridiculously steep downhill on a “nasty” gully 20-30m deep. It was difficult but did not feel too unsafe. The trail on the other side was a steep descent through scree before finally reaching firmer ground and greener valleys and then a long way to the welcome shelter of refugio Respomuso.

Thanks a lot for your visits, comments, faves, invites, etc. Very much appreciated!

It was one of those, 'just-walking along-and-the-bird-flew-towards-me-and-stopped-right-in-front' moments. :)

This small and beautiful beach is near Bermagui in New South Wales. The rock formation (if you zoom in) does look like a camel sitting down. It was identified and named by Bass and Flinders during the first mapping of the coastline of the colony of New South Wales. You can see why they call this the Sapphire Coast.

I ventured out on our first morning on St. Thomas to Sapphire beach to enjoy the sunrise. There were so many clouds I wasn't sure I'd see much of anything. As it turned out, this ended up being a rather nice sunrise, perhaps the nicest of the entire week!

Sapphire Pool is a feast of color. This is another thermal feature in Biscuit Basin and is known for its amazing deep blue color. I found the gold and orange rim just as interesting. The pool is over 200 F degrees and seems peaceful now, but in 1959 an earthquake turned the pool into a huge geyser that obliterated the biscuit-like rock formations that gave the basin its name. By 1968 all eruptions had ceased and the pool returned to its quiet beauty.

Sea fishing in the UK during spring and more specifically during early spring can produce little yield due to the fact that a huge variety of winter species will have moved into offshore waters and will not return until summer.

During the intervening period it presents boat owners the opportunity to bring their vessels onto the beach where they can undertake vital maintenance repairs and to ensure that their vessels are seaworthy for the upcoming season which will most likely take them into the fishing fields of the North Sea.

One such vessel Sapphire DR161 is on the beach at Walmer, Deal where she is undergoing her scheduled maintenance program.

Deal, Great Britain.

Milkyway over Alvord Desert and the Steen Mountains the wind was howling so hard the poles on the right side of the tent were permanently bent none the less I really wanted this shot fabulous place to spend the weekend

Song of the moment: Hair - Lady Gaga

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Okq8xHrIZ8I

Whenever I dress cool,

My parents put up a fight

And if I’m a hotshot,

Mom will cut hair at night

In the morning I’m sure of my identity

I scream Mom and Dad

Why can't I be who I wanna be?

I just wanna be myself,

And I want you to love me for who I am

I just wanna be myself,

And I want you to know, I am my Hair

I’ve had enough

This is my prayer

That I’ll die living just as free as my hair

I’ve had enough

I’m not a freak

I must keep fighting to stay cool on the streets

I’ve had enough, enough, enough

And this is my prayer, I swear

I’m as free as my hair

Sometimes I want to rock on some highlights

Just because

I want my friend to think that I am dynamite

And on party, roxy, high school dance

I got my bangs too hard

That I don't stand a chance

A chance

I just wanna be myself,

And I want you to love me for who I am

I just wanna be myself,

And I want you to know, I am my Hair

Oh my wordy my fine flickr friends - what a jewel of a morning it was down in Bronte a few hours ago. As it was Sunday and summer has returned after a mediocre 4 or 5 days - the beach and pool was awash with clickers and tripods. So I was running off in every other direction - thats the beauty of tripod free - and then jumped in to the pool with my trusty baby olympus as the sun came over the horizon. We had everything down there this morning - sun, surf, clouds, sky - it was magic. I reckon I might set up a stand in a camera shop selling swimsuits and flip flops and call them tri-swimming or tri-movingaround as an alternative to tri-pods ;))).

I decided to try using that liquify tool in PS today, since two friends now have told me it's a good tool to use for these things...I think I did it better this round, lol. Either way, I REALLY like the end result of this. YAY! \o/

Star Sapphire is damn impossible to make as a purist fig. Trust me, I tried for like five hours. This is the best thing that came out of it and . . . eehhhh I'm not quite sold.

How about you guys? Thoughts?
