After spotting her in the street, an hour later she ended waiting on me in a fabric shop; professional and courtesy, unless she smiled there was alway a prevelant sadness that surrounded her.

Amsterdam Marathon 2010
Last Sunday, the 17th of October I ran my 3rd marathon and finally feel like I have a time I am happy with, I finished in 3h8min36sec coming home in 226th category place and 624th place overall in a 8000 strong field. I shook off 31mins from my other best time which I had (London 2009: 3h39mins)
It wasn't a smooth ride, only 3 weeks ago I ended up in hospital due to food poisoning and lost a whole week worth of trainning in the final stages of getting ready for the marathon.
But I could not be happier, I have now a qualifying time for my age group which allows me to take part in all major marathons in the World Champioinship Series which includes New York, London, Chicago, Berlin and the selective and exclusive Boston.
I need to say a big THANK YOU to my great and good friend Nardia, for all the support and help for getting me here.
Next goal? keep trainning hard and get that under 3 hours time :)

This is actually a double falls the majority of the year, and the lower falls shown here (an opening in the rocks) is obscured by the upper falls. But when we visited in August, water was only present in the lowers falls.
Two Medicine Valley, Glacier National Park, Montana
This is a photograph from the first running of the Clonard GAA 4 Mile Road Race, Fun Run and Walk which was held in the village of Clonard, Co. Meath, Ireland on Wednesday 2nd August 2017 at 19:30. This race was organised to faciliate the continued fund raising for the wonderful new GAA facilities at St. Finian's Park - the new home of Clonard GAA. The race itself was an outstanding success with over 400 participants including over 230 participants having chip timing. The new GAA facilities provided ample car parking and space for refreshments and mingling afterwards.
The four mile distance is something of a novelty these days on the road racing circuit and the large field shows that the distance holds an attraction for runners, joggers and walkers.
The race started and finished at the new GAA pitch and incredibly only 20 meters separated the start and finish line of the race. The route took the participants east bound on the R148 towards Enfield through the village of Clonard and onwards to take a right turn onto Keegan's boreen to cross the M4/M6. The route then took a right turn on the Clonard Edenderry road to return back to Clonard with another crossing of the M4/M6 motorway.
As this was the first running of the race the support from local athletes was very visible.
Credit must go to Clonard GAA and Clonard Community Council who provided excellent organisation on all aspects of the race including event management, parking and race stewarding with the Gardai. This race can be an example to every other club in Ireland in how a properly organised race can be run.

Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

Spalding Station

This is a photograph from the Edenderry "Frank Kilrane Cup" 10 Mile Road Race and Fun Run which was held in Edenderry, Co. Offaly, Ireland on Sunday 22nd of July 2018 at 09:30. The race also features the Offaly AAI 10 Mile Road championships. As it is a county championship race the first man and woman from the county of Offaly will be presented with the Frank Kilrane perpetual Cup. St. Mary's Primary School in Edenderry was used as race HQ. Irish timing company Popup Races provided electronic timing and event management for the race.
The race has been held for the last number of years during the Easter period so this is the first time that the race has been held during the Summer months. Overall, the route is a fair and predominantly flat with the exception of a few rolling hills, in places. The race starts on the R441 road to Rhode from the Edenderry/Tullamore road and proceeds northwards towards Jonestown crossroads. The race takes a left and heads westward towards Rhode. A few KM outside of road the race turns southwards into the townlands of Thomastown, Sallymount, Rogerstown and Monasteroris. The race crosses the Grand Canal at Trimblestown Bridge, which is a steep canal bridge, carrying traffic over the Grand Canal between Kilbeggan and Edenderry. The course turns eastwards again and returns back to Edenderry where the course at around 9 miles meets the course at 1.5 miles mark. Another crossing of the Grand Canal sees the race cross Cartland Bridge before the 9 mile mark. The race finishes in Derry Rovers FC soccer ground where there is a tarmac surface surrounding the pitch. The weather was clear and bright but rather warm with air temperatures close to 20C with the feeling of high humidity. This made it a bit difficult for runners. However, there was little or no wind. Overall, this was a well organised raced with over 250 participants taking part.
Edenderry is a town with a population of around 10,000. The town is a busy one given that it provides a focal point for a large rural population around it. The town experienced growth in the 50s and 60s powered by the presence of Board na Mona and the ESB utilising the vast peat production areas around the town.
73_365 Running herd. The last shoot at the ranch today was a small herd of horses running. We didn't get the light we were hoping for because the clouds were rolling in as the sun was coming up. I can't think of anything as majestic as seeing a herd of horses running free. And the thundering sound...it's really something.

The Great Limerick Run 2013 (Marathon, Half Marathon, Relay, and 6 Mile) races were held in Limerick City, Ireland on Sunday 4th of May 2013 starting at 09:00. This was a very large mass participation event which is now firmly established on the Irish running calendar. These are a set of a photographs from: the start of the marathon, the mile 2 mark of the mark, the half way point of the marathon (to about a 3:40 finishing time), a selection from mile 20 of the marathon. In this set there is a selection of photographs from the 6 mile race. These sets of photographs will not include every competitor. Participated in a race in Richmond after work today. This is the view of the crowd lined up behind me, incentive to not get trampled. It was a 5k in a mega office park called Insbrook. The race is geared towards all the corporate types who are usually chained to their desk in front of the computer all day, such as myself, so you see mostly business people in the crowd. I good way to get people out and about and to socialize outside the confines of the office. I met people today that I didn't even know workded for my company, and we are only about 100 or so people at my location. Started at the back of the corral for 8-9 minute per mile pacers, but finished better than that, completing in 24:53, about a 7:32 pace. The weather was perfect for a run, about 68 degrees, and was pretty flat. I'm used to running a lot of elevation changes, so that probably helped my time. Didn't know I could run that fast!

I am amazed to see how this Running Culture has picked up pace in India... I say running culture because not so long ago, India never had a marathon and people from the African countries were only thought of participating in those long runs... And now all the major cities host marathons... Everybody from kids to elders, men to women, husband and wife, friends are running... Running for a cause, running for fitness, running for fun, running for love etc... I hope one day I too will start running, not to earn anything but just to EARN my BODY :)
