This is the 2nd frame of the 5 that I shot of Dan and Ben running Spirit Falls. Sorry for the delay in getting these posted but my computer decided to go on vacation for a few days leaving me up crap creek without a computer.

I feel it should be noted here again that running waterfalls like this is SERIOUS stuff and carries with a high potential for injury and even death and should not be attempted without a solid background in white water running. We had several safety kayakers in place below the falls to assist should anything had gone bad.

Dan and Ben are dedicated whitewater atheletes and have spent years and countless hours on many rivers honing their skills and they are redefining what is possible in a raft.

Finally, a "proper" winter's morning! Here I just love the colours in the field running alongside the hedgerow and all under the "running sky"

As a fierce storm swept in from the southern ocean this small boat was blasted back to the safety of the inner harbour of port Lyttelton. The camera's auto focus was confused by the torrent of large hailstones. In the space of an hour there were 1100 lightning strikes with constant thunder crashing and rolling round the hills and mountains surrounding the harbour. In the city a 12 km high thunderhead spawned a small tornado causing damage and injuring two people.

I wanted to share him because he made me smile!

Tony had said that we could walk Pevensey Levels on Thursday but then changed his mind to do a different walk. So having been looking forward to walking the levels as I always am I decided to do them today. The flood water had retreated and I could almost have got away with walking boots but anyway wellies made it less difficult to decide where to walk. It started out sunny bat the clouds kept passing overhead it was cold and windy but as always lots to see especially a couple of foxes in the same field and finally a very obliging swan.

From rough to smooth, River Severn over the weir at Castlefields in Shrewsbury. Beautiful spot but the power of the water is not to be taken lightly, another young man lost his life this week here....

I completed my 19th marathon this morning. The Ottawa Marathon was modified this year because of COVID-19. Participants were able to run the race virtually, on their own and choosing their own route. Race medals and shirts are mailed to each runner. I chose to run from my home in downtown Cornwall to Phillpots Island on the Long Sault Parkway and back home to complete the 42.2 km race. With no water or aid stations along the route, I ran this race completely on my own using an Osprey backpack containing 2.5 Litres of water, 3 small bottles of Gatorade and 4 energy gels. This selfie was taken at the halfway and turnaround point on Phillpotts Island.

I love shooting people in motion, and have been trying to hook up with joggers for a while. Ran into a friend the other day and mentioned it, just so happens she runs! Three strobes used. SB 800 and SB28 stacked together with umbrellas to the far left (one high one low.) One vivitar 283 with variopower to the far right to catch her from behind. Dialed down shutter for ambient.

For "Get Pushed" round 17, I was paired with the young and so very talented Rachel, aka "Girl in Sneakers". Check out her response to my push...it's amazing! She challenged me to create an image which tells a story. She gave me examples of themes such as: vision; fate; destiny; love; sadness; hope; and redemption, to go by. Also, the challenge required using a road as a backdrop, and to incorporate 3 of these 6 items she listed: a clock; feet (bare or with shoes); 3 books; eyeglasses; or a person (not looking at the camera); a photo of someone you love (in a frame). What an interesting and fantastic challenge!

So I pondered the possibilities for a while and admittedly was stumped. Eventually I decided to just move forward without so much of a plan, to go out on a photoshoot, 'wing it' and see what I came up with. The shot of me running is where I started, and then I built the image from there, out of several other images I snapped. My concept is about time, and how there never seems to be enough of it. Therefore, I'm always trying to catch up. The crooked clock is for my warped sense of time; the turtles for the speed I seem to be at; my dog Moxie who is always watching and waiting for me to play with her or take her for a walk; the castle is about high hopes and dreams; the moon coming up shows the day is nearly over but also to always reach for it; and last but not least, the sunflower and the butterfly to remind me that no matter what, its all going to be okay and to just simply go along & be happy! :)

I don't use Photoshop very much, as Lightroom is my software of choice, so the collage techniques used here were a learn 'by the seat of your pants' type of thing. It's getting more familiar each time I use the program but I know there's so much yet to figure out. For a more realistic appearance, I tried creating more shadow effects but going as dark as I really needed to -made the shadows look too black and fake. Most of the hard shadows on the road are part of the original shot. After taking it through Photoshop, I played around with it in Nik Software's Color Efex Pro, applying a few different filters. Then back to Photoshop to subtly apply 3 different Kim Klassen texture layers. Fun!

Thanks for the push, Rachel! :)
