The magnificent Fontcouverte de la Clarée waterfall, near Névache, is a protected site. The waterfall takes its name from a miraculous spring that was partly hidden and covered by a bush: the covered fountain.

We recently had all our old 8mm movie films digitized which had been filmed with a Bolex movie camera.
This picture was taken from a frame on the digitized movie film and enhanced.
The picture was taken in August 1965.
Normally an overnight turn run to Texas City, this LHB89 is running late enough to see daylight as it rolls down UP's Galveston Sub through suburban Houston. The train also normally sees just a single wide-cab, so UP 1399 is likely heading down to Texas City to swap power with the LHB31 (GH&H Local) or YGA55 (Galveston Yard Job).

CP 5792 is running around its train and will soon run back to St-Luc Yard long hood forward with empty ballast cars.
Here's another shot from Upper Cascade Falls. I am running out of stuff to share, all the creeks are pretty much dry now, but I'm hoping I'll find some new stuff this weekend. Wish me luck.

...near Lathen is 012 082-4 with an Eilzug(semi-fast) from Emden to Essen on March 30th, 1973.
Almost more interesting than the engine is the consist she has in tow here, just two coaches of a kind here, the rest could not be more different:
Baggage coach of Reichsbahn origin, the kind fitted with inside-doors and still showing the cockpit on its roof for the trainmaster to watch the train´s progress(as it was provided for but no longer needed and soon removed), second and sixth coach are rebuilt regional passenger coaches, though for use with stopping passengers, but capable of running at 120 kmh also used in trains like this; third, fourth and seventh coaches are real "Eilzugwagen", modern lightweight coaches for semi-fast services, providing first and second class seatings, while coach # 5 again is of Reichsbahn origin, built as coach for semi-fast services, providing four doors on each end.
All in all a composition any museum-railway would be proud of!

For Erika's week of no color
A man and woman run along a roadside bicycle path. The man wears barefoot running shoes and hence uses a fore-foot strike while the woman strikes the ground heel first since a more cushioned shoe accomodates this running technique. For more information on how the toe (aka barefoot) running shoes have changed people's running style, please read, Running Shoes Changed How Humans Run, by Rachael Rettner.
