The V sets have been popular for many years but how much time do they have left? The replacement D sets are currently being tested. Set V36 departs Warrimoo heading to Sydney Central.

One more from last weekend: Eruption at Eyjafjöll, seen from Fljótshlíð, Iceland. Running lava can be a beautiful -but dangerous- sight.

This big guy was with another 6 pt (I think...) and two does. My dad was saying "Look at that big buck!" and I was looking all over the place.

Another from Woburn. It always seems to me that I only ever see foxes when I'm driving so this was a bit of a treat. I'd just arrived and was walking in to the park to try to find the deer when I noticed this fox poking about in the undergrowth. It mustn't have noticed me but was working it's way away from me around to the far side of the bushes. I'd pretty much expected it to be off and well away so stopped to watch some of the fallow deer when I noticed the fox coming towards me at full tilt. I had just enough time to swing my camera round and run off this burst of four shots. I couldn't really decide on a favourite so decided to merge all four into this sequence.

I particularly like that the two fallow deer just stood and watched it pass.

With the impending closure of the Cresswell to Cheadle branch in June 1963, an opportunity to “do” the line was taken in April 1963. We were rather lucky to find 4F no. 44499 in charge of the non corridor stock in place of the usual 2-6-4 tank.

44499 must have been quite a popular loco at Stoke shed as it spent the whole of its post nationalisation existence there until withdrawn in September 1964.

The loco is seen running round at Cheadle station.

Yesterday we had our first snowfall & it seemed the squirrel hated it as much as I did! I caught

him on the fence running across the back yard! I'm happy to say that the snow is all melted,

thanks to the rain that took its place =))
