The cascades on the river above Burgess falls proper were fun to explore and tease out little scenese like this one.

A Terek Sandpiper (Xenus cinereus) was caught running in its typical posture while seeking tiny creatures underneath the muddy inter-tidal surface. They are extremely agile and very tough to approach. But most interesting is their hunting behaviour. They change the moving direction in a brisk and catch prey all of a sudden in a burst. Here it was framed in such a sequence of events and I enjoyed it very much from a distance. Pics was taken from Frasergunj sea shore in West Bengal, India.
Milwaukee Road 4-8-4 261 deadheads south on Wisconsin Central rails back in 1998. The old tea kettle was running with a clean stack through the northern Chicago suburb of Prairie View.
The 261 would spend time downtown before running a series of excursions to Galesburg on BNSF on the following weekend.

On a crisp November Monday morning, Pan Am's EDPO accelerates through railroad location Ox in Fitchburg MA. MEC 7635, currently one of three unpatched ex-CSX C40s in the distinctive deep blue paint, has lead duties. A trio of recent fall nor'easters has effectively de-leafed the majority of the trees.
It could certainly be worse - if it were February the storms would have buried New England in snow.
More an exercise than a photo. Fun with layer masks. Last running shot, I promise. :)

The 140 Vintage Running Day on 23rd November 2019 commemorated the service of route 140 to Heathrow Airport, with RTs, RMs and Ms running the full route from Heathrow up to Harrow Weald, Bus Garage. Some journeys even continued along the old 140 route to Mill Hill (which is now the 114).
The weather was typically wintry: dark and wet, but nonetheless the day offered the potential for a number of unique photos.

I love the messy, wild shoreline of the Prairie River. It makes for challenging photography, but it shows how nature arranges herself.
