Working around a prefit garage is difficult but not impossible! This route 66 themed garage turned gameroom will be more than our client ever imagined. Antique glazed walls and a red pop of color which matches existing bathroom. A large map of historic route 66 will be painted over the antique faux finish.
Bus stop timetables for Arriva's 63 and Metrobus' 51, 61 and 200 at Horsham hospital. This is the stop on the south-eastern-bound side of the road, for buses into Horsham town centre, and and the case of the 63, onwards to Guildford.
While Metrobus' are correct, the idea of the 63 is that it came from Horsham and terminated in the layby on the hospital side of the road. Then, it started again, bound for Guildford, from the same layby (avoiding the need to cross the road to catch the bus), went up and round the block to turn around, and back past the hospital, then back to the town centre.
The presence of a 63 timetable on the opposite side of the road to the hospital therefore isn't wrong, however, there wasn't one on the hospital side, which there should have been, and the one on the opposite site was showing the departure times for the hospital side (whereas it should have been a couple of minutes later, after the bus had been round the block and back).
As part of changes to the Guildford - Cranleigh - Horsham corridor from 28th September 2014, the 63 was withdrawn from Horsham Hospital, so this minor problem will have righted itself now.

NXP 778 (London Transport RT 4424, 1953 AEC RT / Weymann) – interior view.
RT 4424 was in London service until 1973, last at Barking Garage. After a short spell in preservation, it was exported to Canada, and had a second service life with Abegweit Sightseeing Tours, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, prior to its return to England in 2010, it is now in the fleet of the London Bus Company, Northfleet. The bulkhead loudspeaker was fitted for tour commentaries, and has been retained, along with the 1970s interior adverts.
Taken on the route 174 / 175 vintage bus running day, organised by the London Bus Museum.
Metroline Route 217 in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire. Just cutting the London boundary this route brings back memories. I used to live near Bury Street, Edmonton, London on this route before moving to Cheshunt, Hertfordshire still on a Metroline route but very different! I remember this route being worked by MCW Metrobuses until they decided it should go low floor and several Dennis Darts with Marshall bodywork were purchased because low floor deckers were unaffordable - what a difference now! This route could almost be deemed an express route operating down the dual carriageway A10 Great Cambridge Road for most of its length.
Having recently been given an allocation of Optare Esteem-bodied Dennis Darts, route 42 now seems to be operated by a scratch fleet of Plaxton Pointer-bodied Darts of varying vintages, with the Optare vehicles seemingly reallocated to route 355. LDP 250 is seen in Bishopsgate approaching the Liverpool Street Station stop, during a shower of rain on Monday 13th June.
The Darts will only be a temporary allocation, as during the Autumn route 42 will be extended from its present terminus at Denmark Hill to East Dulwich. It will be double-decked at the same time, as buses will no longer negotiate Sunray Avenue where a number of low-hanging trees have restricted the route to single-deck operation.
Family members of the late Stephen T. O’Donnell help dedicate a stretch of Route 53 in Weymouth the Stephen T. O’Donnell Memorial Highway.
O’Donnell, a long time MassDOT employee, passed away two years ago today, September 14, 2010. O’Donnell’s career included years in Highway leadership and as a key contributor to the creation of the Patrick-Murray Administration’s historic Accelerated Bridge Program.
O’Donnell was also instrumental in Transportation Reform of 2009, breaking down barriers and integrating stand alone agencies to form the current MassDOT Highway Division. He also served as Commissioner of Public Works in the City of Quincy.
“Steve’s memory lives on in the Highway Division as an exemplary engineer and public servant,” said MassDOT Highway Administrator Frank DePaola.
The Memorial Highway runs along Washington Street in Weymouth (Route 53) from the Hingham town line to Broad Street, a length of approximately three miles.
O’Donnell was a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology and a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Hot on the heels of CV55 BAU was narrow-bodied Local Link Optare Solo MV07 CYG working route 65. It too is seen turning from Fleet Street into Abbey Road in Torquay Town Centre on Wednesday 6th April. Route 65 links Torquay Harbour with St Marychurch and The Willows, largely using roads that are not served by other buses. It has an irregular timetable, as the route is just slightly too long for one bus to cover the round trip in an hour. Althoigh there appears to be no restriction on the route requiring the use of such a small vehicle, route 65 is generally lightly loaded and a 21-seater is usually adequate for the traffic on offer. Also, this vehicle can be used as a back-up whenever the regular bus for route 62 (which is restricted due to narrow roads through Cockington Village) is not available.
Local Link operates a number of midibus routes in the Torbay area, using a fleet of mostly second-hand Optare Solos. These tend to serve roads and areas that are not served by the main Stagecoach services, and therefore provide complementary rather than competing services. Both operators issue and accept each other's tickets.
I have been working up in Plymouth recently, which means driving along the A38. I haven't been up that way for a while, and couldn't help but notice an American Diner along the way. For those of you reading this in the States you might be thinking, well, so what, but in Cornwall this is something different and unusual, so I had to stop and check it out. I liked the name, borrowed of course from the famous Route 66 song. All pictures are from my Sony mobile phone, edited in Picnik and assembles on Photoshop.
I will be away from Flickr for a few days, but look forward to catching up on your pictures at the end of the week.
As this route is mis-leading to out of towners, this 2003 Gillig Low Floor is headed towards Oregon and the Airport Neighborhood not Oregon the state.
