Abernethy is a village and former burgh about 13 km south-east Perth.
Formerly the site of a number of Roman encampments, Abernethy became an important Pictish religious and political centre. The parish church, which sits on land given by Nechtan, a king of the Picts, is dedicated to Saint Brigid of Kildare, and the church is said to have been founded by Dairlugdach, second abbess of Kildare, one of early Christian Ireland's major monasteries.
In 1072 the village was the setting for the Treaty of Abernethy, where Malcolm Canmore gave allegiance to William the Conqueror and its mediaeval round tower marks the site of a former abbey and, later, collegiate church.
The Round Tower is a stone-built Irish-style round tower which stands at the edge of the cemetery. Dating from the 11th century, the tower is one of only two such towers surviving in Scotland. The roofless ower is 22.5 m high and has a diameter of 4.57 m at ground level, tapering upwards to 3.96 m. Fixed to the outside base of the tower is a Pictish stone.
D1842 caught in the process of running round at Wirksworth on 7 August 2021. The loco had arrived on the 13:55 from Duffield and would return on the 14:45 departure.

Litle Round Top

The monument to Brigadier General Gouverneur Warren is south of Gettysburg on Little Round Top. (see map) It was erected in 1888 by veterans of the 5th New York Infantry Regiment.
General Warren's bronze statue stands atop the boulder that he is said to have stood on during the battle. A bronze tablet is set into the side of the boulder, and "Warren" is carved into the stone.

Then Chief Engineer of the Army of the Potomac detected General Hood's flanking movement and by promptly assuming the responsibility of ordering troops to this place saved the key of the Union position.
Promoted for gallant services from the command of a regiment in 1861, through successive grades to the command of the 2nd Army Corps in 1863, and permanently assigned to that of the 5th Army Corps in 1864.
Major General Warren needs no eulogy.
His name is enshrined in the hearts of his countrymen.

Round Table on the role of European institutions in the exploitation of Ariane 6 and Vega-C, at the ESA pavilion, during the Paris Air and Space Show, on 22 June 2017.
Satellites from European institutions will play a major role during the exploitation of the new family of ESA-developed launchers, Vega-C and Ariane 6 which will be operative from 2019/2020.
In this round table, high level representatives from important European institutions were invited to debate how they can contribute to guarantee a level playing field for Ariane 6 and Vega-C exploitation with respect to competitors that can count on a very large number of institutional payloads.

...or it could be round four, it snowed in October, melted, snowed again, melted, and again and melted. I have lost count, so unusual for our part of the country. The snow usually stays all winter.
Even in the off peak daytime, the G1 takes the best part of an hour and a half to traverse the back roads between Streatham and Clapham.
