(219/366) I spotted this sign for Ballyhack Smokehouse whilst we were queuing for the car ferry over to Passage East in Waterford. Taken through the car windscreen. Happy Sign Sunday!
Here's another from a couple weeks ago, when the huge waves were rolling in. The waves were gigantic for a couple of days, and then they died down for a couple of days. But, then came round two, as another storm brewed up in the Pacific, just missing Hawaii. The huge waves were back.
This is also from Shore Acres State Park, taken at sunset, during a brief moment while the sun was actually shining.
Alabama Hills, Eastern Sierra, California
The rounded rocks on the side of this mountain caught my eye one morning. They are the rocks found everywhere in the Alabama Hills area.
They are monzogranite, a type of granite. As often happens with granites, the monzogranite formation developed what geologists call joints, extensive cracks throughout the rock. The horizontal joints came from the removal of a massive overburden through erosion. The vertical joints developed from pressure from the surrounding rocks. Water penetrated these joints, loosening them to create rectangular blocks. Further water erosion rounded the edges, creating the smooth, lumpy rocks such as the ones we see here.
Notice the road track across the bottom.

Round leaved sundew (_Drosera rotundifolia_). Taken in one of the bogs along the road to our cabin at Peak Pond in Whitbourne, Newfoundland
The rain returned to the Peak District hills today.
This is a mobile phone, (waterproof fortunately!), panorama taken from Round Hill above Ronksley Moor taking in the summit cairn of Round Hill and Grinah Stones over on the right of the shot.
As the title suggests I was just messing around with an old colour sunset photo on a free software package called 'irfanView'.
I got the idea from this photograph and so tried to replicate it... www.flickr.com/photos/wandavella/32290917482/in/pool-bwfl...
It is a photograph but it is cheating as I used software to create this.....if you like this artwork please leave a comment or FAVE it.
Thank you, Lee.

Please do not fave the first five photographs that you see, yes I would like you to fave them but I would much prefer it if you could look further through my photographs on say pages 3/4/5/6 etc.
My photography style is different as being disabled I take most of my photos from my wheelchair scooter or from my car seat, this makes composition a little more difficult but I try my damndest to get a great photo, I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoy taking them..
I will do my best to get round to looking at your photos and commenting on them and faving them.
Follow me and I will follow you.
Please leave a comment but please no SPAM comments advertising groups.....lets talk photography.
Happy snapping........Lee.
Dear Papa, some terrible plague has the ship in it's grip. The crew fade and die like so many fledgling birds, I am powerless to stop it. There is hope, however, my dear sister Elizabeth....yes we thought lost in the barn fire, is here with me. Each night she bids me bend so she can kiss my cheek. Her smile a dimamond rainbow in my heart. Now we are together I am not afraid. No, no dear Papa, do not think me mad, for I have never been more sane. The new lands lay before us and I am ready for the adventure.
As ever, your son Drake

ODC - Round
Nice challenge this one, didn't have to stress at all or go out in the 110deg heat.
This is a very beautiful dandelion caught in a bubble of resin. Never would you expect something so delicate to stay intact....It was a wedding gift 12yrs ago.
For a better view select "L" to see very pale bokeh light..

The round tower at Glendalough is considered by many to be one of the most finely constructed and beautiful towers in Ireland. Situated in a thickly forested valley, the 30.48 metre tall tower is built of mica schist with a granite doorway. The conical roof was rebuilt in 1876 using the original stones that were found inside the tower. The round tower is divided internally into 6 storeys by timber floors, connected by ladders. The four storeys above entrance level are each lit by a small window; while the top story has four windows facing the cardinal compass points.
In medieval Ireland, round towers had many uses. They served as beacons to guide pilgrims from afar, bell towers (their Irish name is Cloig-theach meaning bell-tower), storehouses, lookouts and places of refuge in times of attack. The door is about 3.5 meters from the ground, which is commonly believed to be a defensive practice with refuge seekers raising the ladder from within. The doorway was constructed with large stones similar to the cyclopean doorway at St Mary's Church. The arch above the door was carved from a single stone. It is still in near perfect condition even though it is almost 1,000 years old.
