The legend behind the Tanabata(Milky Way) is about a princess Orihime(Vega).

Who spent all her days weaving exquisite clothes for her father The universe emperor. She met a cow herder by the name of Hikoboshi(Altair) and the two fell madly in love. But as the two spent more and more time together. They neglected their responsibilities.

The universe emperor became angry and separated they by placing them on opposite sides of Milky Way. She was crying every day.

The universe emperor finally agreed for the couple to meet once a year on the seventh day of the 7th month by the old lunar calendar.

But unable to cross Milky Way the first year.

So The Swan came and formed a bridge with wing.

It’s believed though. That if it rains the celestial sweethearts will remain separated until next year. As a result many children rejoice when the weather is good.

Known by Astrophotographer as the Summer Triangle.

the stars representing Orihime (Vega)Hikoboshi (Altair) and the Swan bridge (Deneb) are clearly visible in the summer sky.

Have a nice Tanabata✨

The golden hour view of Mount Shasta, Black Butte, Castle Lake, and Heart Lake from the summit of Castle Peak. The lakes are among numerous hiking destinations within a section of the Klamath Mountains known as the Trinity Divide, a rugged wilderness often relatively overlooked in favor of the more prominent nearby mountain. That's fine with me -- I had this summit view to myself, snapped a few photos, caught my breath, before scurrying down the ridge in the fading light. [Canon 6d / Rokinon 14mm f/2.8]

The aptly named Prairie Divide Road runs north from Red Feather Lakes, Colorado up into Roosevelt National Forrest. Not too far from my old man's place, it splits a little mountain valley half. We had a nice clear night last week, so Big Bear and I jumped in the truck and drove down the dirt roads and set up shop.

Composite of 60 or so 2-minute exposures, a couple of which I drove through in the truck. Shot with a Rokinon 14mm.

Funny story, battery on the truck died while I was shooting this, camera ran for almost 3 hours. I ended up sleeping in the cab all night until someone happened by me in the morning... I have no regrets :)

For Love to Leap Thursday!! This is Thursday, isn't it? I didn't jump on the wrong day, did I? It's been one of those weeks!

Working from home today, I started a half hour early so that I could take a full hour lunch time for my picture. And to have my picture posted before 5:30 my time is such a relief! Makes me feel like I can carry on another day!

One the 5 little fishing and vineyard towns that compose the Cinque Terre region of the Italian coast, Vernazza is truly a pleasure.

Delicious wine, better pesto, and frankly some of prettiest views I've ever had the pleasure of pointing my camera at.

Highly recommended this place, but if you check it out, please do it right. Cruise ships and tourism are starting to take their toll on the area. Go see it for sure, but spend money in the local shops, stay in a local hotel, and follow the rules. I almost feel guilty for having been there, and telling others to check it out too haha. such a fragile and truly unique place...

My 1st golfing pictures ever! my 14mm was the perfect lens.

The last time I visited this well-known abandoned homestead in Sherman County there was still a solid chimney standing on the side of this house. Whether by the hand of vandals or simply the elements that is no longer the case. I feel fortunate the house itself is still standing at this point, and with fall well underway it may not last too many more seasons. That's just one reason I still find myself fascinated by this subject and find myself compelled to continue documenting the past. Whether it will be worth it to anyone in the future is an open question, of course, but that's another matter...

the aurora brightened and a half hour afterward it was moving closer, The reflection shows the colour but the curtain was so bright I reduced my exposure to 6 seconds, Here the east activity and the west activity are moving into the centre making a crown, taken with the 14mm Rokinon f2.8 at f3.5

6/25/2025 - Welcome explore viewers! I must say it's a surprise having this older photo included in today's travel takeover, but I really appreciate it. This trip was a major early step in my travels and I deeply hope to return to Japan soon.
