Saturday Night was one of the big aurora events and I could have stayed all night but it was late and I was cold. Note that this shot is with a 14mm and the sky is full of green!
Yesterday was a general uneventful, cold Fall day at our local conservation area, but right before dusk, thousands of migrating birds arrived to settle in for the night. Pretty cool experience... and not once did I get pooped on :)

The Milky Way is slowly setting in the North now that summer is coming to an end. Before shooting deep sky imagines near Banff I decided to head over to the popular Vermillion Lakes shooting spot. Besides for the smell of sulfur bubbling up through the lake the night was calm and soothing. Mars shinning brightly never disappoints.

This shot is from last month, but the conditions were the same yesterday, as another powerful storm system moved through.
Shot taken at Home Depot parking lot.
I loved the moody low hanging fog at Multnomah late Monday afternoon. It appears as if the falls are cascading out of thin air and adds a ton of monochromatic drama to an already postcard ready real life Rivendell. Hashtag alliteration. Who cares if it's overshot and crowded, it's beautiful and a must visit for all my out of town friends. And the peppermint hot chocolate from the lodge is on point.

Went to Joshua Tree on Friday night after work. Stayed for a couple of hours and drove back. Didn't wait long enough for the Milky Way to show up.

The legend behind the Tanabata(Milky Way) is about a princess Orihime(Vega).
Who spent all her days weaving exquisite clothes for her father The universe emperor. She met a cow herder by the name of Hikoboshi(Altair) and the two fell madly in love. But as the two spent more and more time together. They neglected their responsibilities.
The universe emperor became angry and separated they by placing them on opposite sides of Milky Way. She was crying every day.
The universe emperor finally agreed for the couple to meet once a year on the seventh day of the 7th month by the old lunar calendar.
But unable to cross Milky Way the first year.
So The Swan came and formed a bridge with wing.
It’s believed though. That if it rains the celestial sweethearts will remain separated until next year. As a result many children rejoice when the weather is good.
Known by Astrophotographer as the Summer Triangle.
the stars representing Orihime (Vega)Hikoboshi (Altair) and the Swan bridge (Deneb) are clearly visible in the summer sky.
Have a nice Tanabata✨
The golden hour view of Mount Shasta, Black Butte, Castle Lake, and Heart Lake from the summit of Castle Peak. The lakes are among numerous hiking destinations within a section of the Klamath Mountains known as the Trinity Divide, a rugged wilderness often relatively overlooked in favor of the more prominent nearby mountain. That's fine with me -- I had this summit view to myself, snapped a few photos, caught my breath, before scurrying down the ridge in the fading light. [Canon 6d / Rokinon 14mm f/2.8]
Through a brief break in the clouds, the galactic core is observed silently descending behind the Waianae Range. Contradicting reality, at 26,000 light years away it appears calm and peaceful.
