The Milky Way from the Rich Mountain fire tower.
When I look at the pics I took this year; except for our trip to the Badlands; the series of pics I took from the top of Rich Mountain rank near the top. It was a fun evening.

The galactic core is silently descending behind the Waianae Range. Controverting the reality at 26,000 light years away, it appears calm and serene. Pacific Ocean behind me, the Waianae Mountains blocking distant city lights in front of me, at this dark sky location I can’t resist grabbing a photo. On the verge of the autumn equinox, viewing opportunities of the center of the Milky Way from the northern hemisphere will diminish until next spring.
You'd think there would be barns galore in Louisiana, and I'm sure there are quite a few, but few in my area that are accessible to photograph. I've had shoots here a couple of times before and decided it was time to revisit on this lovely day.

I was at this same location the evening before but of course the sun was all wrong. So I decided to get up early and hope for the best. Walking the craggy shoreline in the dark was no easy task.
I was fortunate to find some colors popping in the sky lighting up this tombolo.
Shot this during one of my astrophotography sessions in the mountains in Santa Barbara. I love how some cars came through my shot as I was getting the Milky Way.

The recent forecast of the Perseid meteor showers excited the astro nerd in me to drive around the county at midnight seeking the best areas to capture this phenomena.
Sorry no EXIF info as the Rokinon 14mm is totally manual.
(Note to self; I have to learn how to download this lens' profile and upload it into Photoshop and Lightroom)
