土耳其-爱琴海地区-Izmir省-切什梅之晨

Dawn light over the traiditonal Ottoman houses and windmills in Çeşme, a coastal town on Çeşme Peninsula by Aegean Sea, in Izmirn province, Aegean region of Turkey.

Unlike many resort towns in this region, Çeşme has retained a local population and flavour. Only 8km from the Greek island of Chios (Sakız), the town has a long seafront perfect for promenading, a magnificent castle built by the Genoese and a bustling merkez (commercial centre) with plenty of shops and cheap eateries. Popular with weekending İzmiris and with those who balk at the high prices and style overload at nearby Alaçatı, it's an excellent base for exploring the region.

The gate features an ornate coat of arms, and the stone walls and medieval architecture evoke the historical atmosphere of Siklós Castle. The individuals, dressed in mid-20th-century clothing, smile toward the camera, capturing a moment of sightseeing and heritage exploration.

This is most of the upstairs of my little house. The bed, pillow, rug, blue and red-lined cubbies, ladybug, mushroom, clock, and bunny are all from the Megahouse Retro Style Collection (Happy Story Series, 2004). The rest of the items are from the Re-ment room series, which I have heard called "Room Data," "My Petite Room," and "Room Collection." There are five sets in the room collection, and this photo shows items from four of them, the Scandinavian room, the modern room, the princess cabinet, and the Japanese room.

By the way, I got the idea of putting the Retro Style/Room Data furniture into this house (Sylvanian Families Rose Cottage) from these very cute Flickr photos of the "Figumate House": www.flickr.com/search/?q=figumate house&w=all. So it's not my idea at all. : )

The term "collective memory" denotes the aggregate of memories, knowledge, and data that a social group holds, which is intrinsically linked to the group's identity. The term "collective memory" in English and its French counterpart "la mémoire collective" emerged in the latter half of the 19th century. Maurice Halbwachs, a philosopher and sociologist, further developed this concept in his 1925 work, «Les cadres sociaux de la mémoire». Both expansive and intimate social collectives can create, disseminate, and inherit collective memory.

Contrary to the term "collective memory," which is somewhat ambiguously defined yet generally accepted, the notion of "collective memories" is inherently problematic. Memories are the results of the individual acts of recollection, making the idea of "collective memories" paradoxical. Сontemporary diffusion models utilize vast amounts of often unidentified data, including historical and personal old photographs, vintage postcards, and other kinds of publicly circulating images. These models may be seen as involved in the prompts-driven singular acts of remembrance, producing images that paradoxically represent "collective memories," something otherwise unfeasible and ultimately, non-existent.

Steam enthusiasts have at least four opportunities a year to ride a steam train in Thailand. These day trips take place on 26th March (anniversary of the opening of the first public railway), 12th August (Queen’s birthday), 23rd October (anniversary of the death of King Chulalongkorn) and 5th December (HM The King’s birthday). Sometimes there are additional trips. Each trip has a different destination. The steam trains are usually kept at the workshops near Thonburi station when not being used. I have been there before to take pictures though officially it’s not open to the public.

Female tourist taking photos in front of a wooden door with bougainvillea flowers, in Alaçatı, a pretty little town on Çeşme Peninsula by Aegean Sea, in Izmirn province, Aegean region of Turkey.

Alacati has been famous for its architecture, vineyards and windmills for over 150 years has now made its name in the world of windsurfing and kitesurfing, with its crystal clear water, consistent and steady wind (for an average of 300 days a year). Alacati is one of the most traditional towns in Turkey with stone houses, narrow streets, boutique hotels and restaurants with tables on the streets.

Typeface in use:

Ricardo Marcin’s and Erica Jung’s (PintassilgoPrints) ultra-bold, cool and funky typeface »Manicuore«.

Manicuore is a hand-drawn typeface inspired on Italian movie posters by the prolific movie poster artist Symeoni (a.k.a. Sandro Simeoni). Being a talented and skilled painter, portraitist and illustrator, Symeoni enjoyed a long and fruitful career and was remarkably productive during the sixties and seventies. He counts over 3,000 works to his credit, which truly fed the imagination of several generations.

This all-caps font brings different lettershapes on upper and lower case slots, which work as alternates, providing handy options to spice up your compositions. When using it in OpenType savvy applications just turn on contextual alternates feature to instantly cycle lettershapes – a one click way for adding spontaneity while also preventing neighbor double letters from using the same glyph. To put the icing on the cake, Manicuore brings a cool set of graphic elements that match the typeface look and feel. An inspiring toolbox for creative lettering designs.
