c'était « comme sur les Grands Boulevards »
Il fut un temps où j'y allais tous les jours,seul ,par tous les temps.Et lors de mon exposition « Vers le Phare de Walde » en 2014, bien des visiteurs calaisiens ou du coin, m'ont avoué qu'ils ne l'avaient jamais vu et qu'ils en ignoraient même l'existence. Divers reportages tv on fait leurs effets... J'en suis heureux pour les amoureux de la nature et de notre beau littoral, pour les photographes, les enfants, les touristes... respectueux !
Oui tant de « gestes barrières » s'imposent !
Mais vacciner contre la connerie, c'est une autre affaire !
Voici ce que j'écrivais il y a quelque temps sur le site de la Mairie de Marck. Merci à elle d'avoir tiré comme une alarme !
« paradoxalement, moi qui connais parfaitement l'endroit auquel j'ai d'ailleurs consacré plusieurs expositions, je finis par regretter cette "pub ".J'y vais particulièrement souvent, notamment ces 5 derniers jours ( je ne photographie que très rarement les phoques, dont je respecte l intimité ) et j'aurai vu là bas du grand n importe quoi, notamment des gens qui " s' amusent " à effrayer les phoques avec leurs chiens etc etc quant à l'ensemble dunaire on y trouve de plus en plus d'ordures de toutes sortes ( et qui ne viennent pas de la mer ! ). Touristes et curieux, après être passés par l'ancien camp Jules Ferry, laissent tout sur leur passage et ce sera de pire en pire cet été.... le seul point positif, c'est que l'ensemble des huttes et flaques est bien mieux entretenu qu il y a disons une dizaine d'années... mais les chasseurs aussi vont vite pâtir de l'affluence, comme les promeneurs respectueux. On ne devrait plus pouvoir accéder au phare par la langue de sable, en char à voile, à cheval, avec des chiens, en groupes etc...quant au phare sur lequel je me serai tant exprimé et encore recemment sur mon mur fcbk c'est d'une immense tristesse de le voir comme abandonné, lui qui a failli être classé monument historique et qui reste le dernier phare métallique de France .
J'ajoute aussi que l'endroit est dangereux pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas bien les lieux... " sables mouvants", on peut se laisser surprendre par le brouillard voire la marée..et aller chercher quelqu'un là bas, un blessé..c'est particulièrement compliqué.
Oui, aussi : des gardes et des sanctions, une reflexion sur les places de stationnement etc etc «
Un jour, face au grand public, on le verra s'effondrer, dans un grand fracas métallique, et les phoques, comme moi, en seront tous peinés !

Yesterday, 28 October 2017, Dutch singer and musician Gert Timmerman (1935-2017) passed away. He was one of the well-known performers of the Dutch Schlager. Apart from many solo hits, he also scored 21 golden records with his wife as the duo Gert and Hermien. Timmerman was 82.
Gerrit (Gert) Timmerman was born in Oldenzaal, Netherlands, in 1935 and grew up in the district of Pathmos in Enschede. He visited the craft school for some time, but he had more interest in music. From age 12, he played clarinet. At the age of fifteen he attended the music academy in Zwolle two days a week and worked in a printing shop three days a week. Here he met Henk Elsink with whom he formed a duo, with Elsink on piano and himself on double bass. In 1963, Timmerman scored a Dutch number one hit with the Schlager Blume von Tahiti (Flowers from Tahiti). Not long after another hit followed, Ik heb eerbied voor jouw grijze haren (I respect your gray hair) with music and text by Bobbejaan Schoepen, which sold over 350,000 records. Timmerman received a golden and platinum disk for it. In 1963, Timmerman scored two more solo hits, including De Schommelstoel (The Rocking Chair), but then he chose for a career as a duo with Hermien van der Weide with whom he married in 1963. As the duo Gert and Hermien, they successfully made one record after another. In der mondhelle nacht (In the moonlit night) composed by Freddy Golden (Fred Gaasbeek) became a Golden Record for the duo. Also, as a soloist, Timmerman booked success. In 1966 and 1967, they were awarded at the MIDEM festival in Cannes as best-selling artist in the Netherlands. End of the 1960s, Timmerman's wife focused more on their three children, and Timmerman himself released some solo numbers. He also composed film music with Freddy Golden. They received a prize for the score for the Dutch film Body and soul (René Daalder, 1967). Around 1968, Timmerman discovered the little singer Wilma for whom he wrote Een klomp met een zeiltje (A wooden shoe with a little sail, 1969) and Grootpappa (Grandpa, 1969), along with writer Fred van Dam, songs that reached the hit list in 1969. In the same year 1969, Timmerman did a stunt by claiming that he could easily get a stadium full of fans. Together with Willem Duys, he organised the Gert and Hermien Show at the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam. More than 35,000 people came to the show, the stunt was successful and Gert and Hermien received from the same Duys their twelfth Golden Record. The total number of gold records of the duo is 21 pieces, including a platinum record. In 1970, Timmerman reached a hit with Brandend zand (Burning Sand). With Hermien he released Shalalie Shalala (All the pigeons on the Dam) in 1972. They were rewarded with an Edison award for the album Gert & Hermien. In 1974, Timmerman converted himself to Christianity. The first lp with religious repertory, Daarom ben ik blij (Therefore I'm happy), made a sale of over 100,000 copies and was rewarded with a Golden Record. The couple joined the Baptists and repeatedly performed at the Evangelical Broadcasting (EO) company. Their musical career stuck. After a stay in Israel in 1977, they returned to Overijssel.
In 1990 Gert and Hermien became more familiar with the Achterhoek band Normaal and in 1993 a comeback followed. Their faith had set them apart, and Timmerman even gave permission for a photo report of his daughters Sandra and Sheila in Playboy magazine. However, the duo could not repeat the successes of the past. In 1999 a divorce followed. Timmerman was accused of incest by his daughter Sandra. He formed a duo with his son Gert Jr. in the same year and remained active as a singer and multi-instrumentalist. In 2002 he married Barbara Stoevenbeld. His ex-wife Hermien died of a kidney disease a year later, in 2003. A cd was presented in 2004: Roses for you, a tribute to his parents. In 2005, Timmerman celebrated his 70th birthday. He was also 50 years in the job, received a Royal decoration by the mayor of Losser and released his (triple) jubilee CD in October that year, entitled: En dat vergeet ik nooit (And that I'll never forget), including previous hits in a new arrangement , supplemented with new materials. In 2006, he was a hotelier in the reality show Hotel Big Brother. In February 2006 he had major problems with his management and financiers, who retrieved the studio material and the sponsored car. The website was also closed. Timmerman and his wife went undercover for the media. In May 2009, Gert Timmerman appeared in the program of TV vicar David Maasbach. He told about his earlier conversion and how he later wandered from Christianity. In his opinion, he did not lose faith, but he had nothing to do with the church as an institute. Later he returned from this choice and fully focused on faith in God, even if without Hermien and their daughters. A couple of weeks after the interview with Maasbach he performed at the latter's Pentecostal Family Day. In the EO television program How is it with ... in March 2011, Timmerman said that he was virtually deaf and that the singing and composing had almost become impossible. In 2017 he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and died on 28 October 2017 in Overdinkel, Netherlands, at the age of 82.

I respect Margit deeply. An enduring optimist, she embodies the philosophies of “if you go with the flow all you need comes to you” and “don’t sweat the small stuff”. Her life and struggle with mental illness has been complex. A life which may have hardened others, refined Margit into the brave and loving woman she is.
She was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in her 30’s. Medication quickly stabilized her and kept episodes away for decades. Then in a profound twist of fate her husband was also diagnosed with bipolar disorder. He was highly symptomatic and impossible to reason with. In an effort to protect her daughter from a home of strife & arguing, Margit made the “world ending” decision to divorce her husband. Over time she began to drink to deal with her stress. Lead by her mental illness she also quit her job, not being able to give anyone an explanation for her decision. She began having severe hallucinations in her late 50’s and couldn’t recognize the loving family members’ she’d lived with since quitting her job. This led to a specialty mental health team, called the CAT Team, assessing her. She was hospitalized for a week and a half and put on new medications. She was successfully stabilized for a second time in her life after going through the trauma of hallucinations.
But at this point, the stress was too profound for her to return home. Margit’s mother cared full-time for her husband ailing from Alzheimer’s. This led to Margit’s homelessness and her journey from the CAT team assessment, to the hospital, to an organization called Tree House. Margit was then referred by a case worker to a residential women’s shelter in Orange County. She’s been waiting two years for a housing voucher (likely to a care-home) with her classic patience. Currently, she struggles with becoming disoriented in public and at home. And yet, Margit is one of the funniest & kindest people. She makes my life better with every interaction we have. She’s a true original and one of the slickest dry humorists I know. Her spirit lights up the shelter.
She has an enduring resilience and inner-stillness taught to her by the challenges of her life. She’s a Survivor and Joy-Giver.

My First Three Months In Neurosurgery
Aspirations. Goals. Honor. Respect. Some of the characteristics we all wish to inculcate in us in this journey called Life... and the major chunk is determined by our career and our approach towards the same.
In my noble quest towards the same I chose the field of Neurosurgery.
To someone like me... fresh in the department there was a lot to take in starting from the language and my hesitation initially to pronounce (or rather mispronounce) the words, This led me to practice on my own on unsuspecting victims aka patients,, whenever they failed to understand me I would come to the conclusion that I had failed as well -- to get my message across that is! And post trials and tribulations and unfailing help from the wards nurses and interpreters alike I can now muster the courage to approach a patient and not just speak but actually communicate to a certain level.
Neurosurgery fascinates me, somehow as compared to the other surgical branches the degree of uncertainty of the outcome of a particular procedure cannot be predicted to full accuracy, and is furthered by examining the patient when the effect of the anesthesia wears off... and even then the state of the patient may take a sudden turn towards better or for worse and the cause thereof – be unknown – this is what the past 3 months have taught me. Neurosurgery as a branch poses more of a challenge I’m willing to accept -- for Life.
During my first on-call duty I really didn’t know what to expect. Moreover being new to the whole system with unwritten protocols proved to be tougher than I initially fathomed. In spite of being a Neurosurgery resident I cover General Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Vascular Surgery and initially Orthopedics during calls. The fact that there was no post on-call relief did not deter me from evaluating each and every case to the best of my clinical know-how. Over time I have become more adept at dealing with primary care physicians and radiologists as most often we interact with them on a one on one basis. Back home in India we rely heavily on paper work and thorough documentation but the approach is more quick and personalized here – something I’ve learnt to acknowledge and appreciate. The unfaltering dedication of the staff at work round the clock inspires me to give my best during the time spent here. A valuable bit of advice from one of my seniors was to eat when I get a chance to, sleep when I get a chance to and use the washroom when time permitted – and this has held me in good stead.
Over the past couple of weeks I have had everything to gain and nothing to lose – except weight of course and even that’s beneficial... My immediate senior and guide Dr.Farag has convinced me that residents are like air – they are omnipresent – everywhere!
I have learnt that for others to have trust in you, you need to trust yourself and your instincts.
I have learnt that the key to wisdom lies in the details.
I have learnt that the best place for patients to be is not necessarily the hospital, and that social support is the next best healing factor.
I have learnt that the power of will overshadows all medical improbabilities.
I have learnt that watchers can at times alleviate the patient’s anguish rather than prove to be of constructive help.
Having the fire alarm go off in your building of residence needn’t be all that horrifying.
I have come to the conclusion that it is far easier to treat a patient who is not eligible than to transfer him to another hospital, especially on a weekend.
I have learnt that We Are Doctors and we take a break FROM work when we’re off, and NOT come to work everyday!
I have learnt that having your cell phone start ringing whilst you’re presenting an important case isn’t too big a crime.
I have learnt to give due weightage to nurses’ instinct.
I have learnt that a Surgery resident is an ER magnet.
I have learnt that a Neurosurgery resident is an ER magnet, regardless of whether she/he is on call or not.
I have realized and learnt to respect my job’s obligations and requirements.
I am convinced that clear legible/coherent communication is the key to success at any level in the hospital.
I have learnt the pace of advancement in electronics far exceeds the increment in a resident’s financial package.
I have learnt that taking some time off work is as important as keeping your mind on it.
I have learnt that stress is directly proportional to age, rank and the number of colleagues working under you.
I have learnt that some patients would go to any length to get sick leave sanctioned.
I have learnt that there’s no limit to knowledge.
I have learnt that food at all hotels tastes the same, and that having breakfast should be mandatory for all – I have yet to put this in practice though!
I have accepted the fact that the responsibility and concern for a patient under one’s care extends beyond the boundaries of the hospital.
I have learnt that no matter what we do or undo – we’re continuously evolving as humans. Somehow somewhere I see glimpses of the same in my juniors, they’re evolving as well and one day Insha Allah (God-willing) we shall all be able and safe doctors into whose hands the patients willingly put their lives.
At the end of 100 constructive days I have realized that I have changed from a beginner hesitant to make any mistake, to one ready to exercise safe medicine.
The invisible, yet existent umbilical cord always pulls us back to work; Here’s where we belong and here’s where we shall evolve into bright young able physicians of tomorrow – Insha Allah (God-willing) !

Seu segredo é se sentir descolada, antes de conhecer o Harry ela não era de muitos amigos, mesmo o seu trabalho aparentando ser badalado já que ela organizava vários tipos de eventos sua vida pessoal era um desastre, horas de cansaço, olheiras escondidas por grossas camadas de maquiagem, dores de cabeça que já eram tão frequentes e continuas que ela nem sabia o que seria não estar com essa sua amiga, trabalhar num evento não é tão simples e glamoroso como se imagine, por baixo de todo aquele brilho deslumbrante e vestidos de alta costura havia uma garota agradecida por ter um bom emprego, mas solitária, não havia tempo disponível para amigos, e esses só queriam festa quando o que ela queria era um bom dia de sono, já que seu dia de trabalho começava a noite, fora as horas a fio agendando e confirmando os fornecedores. Ela sempre estava “sozinha” em uma grande festa quando tudo que ela queria era estar com apenas uma pessoa que se importasse com ela e não com o que ela estaria fazendo.

This is a composite image - the carb and piston came from a cutaway Ariel engine.
I owned a Trophy TR6SS when I was 17, so I know every little component of this engine, mainly because it spent a lot of time on my garage floor. In the end I had 1/2 race cams and 11:1 compression pistons with Dunstall reverse cone megaphone exhausts. It sounded and felt like I was riding an earthquake!

This long Labor Day weekend was full of baseball fever, with the Los Angeles Dodgers visiting the San Francisco Giants for a 3-game series. This is the longest and fiercest sports rivalry in existence, dating back to the late 19th Century when they represented different parts of New York City. For 2021, the rivalry was even fiercer, with the Dodgers trying to defend their World Series title and the Giants giving unexpectedly strong performance; coming into this weekend, the two teams were tied for the best record in baseball.
Needless to say, many Dodgers fans were visiting San Francisco and I could easily find them everywhere. Dodgers fans were showing up in force at Oracle Park at every game, including yours truly for the first. As a Southern Californian and a Dodgers fan myself, I was very pleased - especially since I hate the Giants and their techbro fan base!
There were also many groups of friends/couples/families/etc. gathering over the weekend with split baseball loyalties, as with this couple.
The Giants ended up taking two of the three games this weekend, and ended the season with 107 wins and 55 losses, its best record ever, beating the Dodgers by one game and winning the National League West Division. However, the Dodgers would become the wildcard in the playoff, and would defeat the Giants 3 games to 2 in the division series. It was an amazing run for the history books, down to the final out of the last division series game.

Hinduism accords the respect these deserve.
A woman is called Gruha Lakshmi, one who brings Prosperity to Home.
Tamil calls her Illal, one who owns/rules the Home.
Similarly Earth is given the respect it deserves for it supports from Birth to Death.
Earth is eulogized as Mother and there are Vedic Sukthas in praise of the Earth, Bho Suktham.
There is Neela Suktham, Neela is considered to be the consort of Lord Vishnu.
Such being the case, there is no wonder in Hinduism calling the Sanctum Sanctorum of a Temple as Garbha Gruha, Gharbha meaning The Womb and Gruha, the Home.
Tamil calls The Gharbhagriha as Karuvarai, meaning ‘where the Foetus stays’
One’s first Home is the womb.
A Hindu temple consists of an inner sanctum, thegarbha griha or womb-chamber, where the primary idol or deity is housed along with Purusa. The garbhagriha is crowned by a tower-like Shikhara, also called the Vimana. The architecture includes an ambulatory for parikrama(circumambulation), a congregation hall, and sometimes an antechamber and porch.
The Hindu temple architecture reflects a synthesis of arts, the ideals of dharma, beliefs, values and the way of life cherished under Hinduism. It is a link between man, deities, and the Universal Purusa in a sacred space.
In ancient Indian texts, a temple is a place for Tirtha – pilgrimage.It is a sacred site whose ambience and design attempts to symbolically condense the ideal tenets of Hindu way of life. All the cosmic elements that create and celebrate life in Hindu pantheon, are present in a Hindu temple – from fire to water, from images of nature to deities, from the feminine to the masculine, from kama to artha, from the fleeting sounds and incense smells to Purusha – the eternal nothingness yet universality – is part of a Hindu temple architecture.
Garbhagriha or Garbha gruha (garbha gṛha) (Sanskrit: गर्भगॄह) is the sanctum sanctorum, the innermost sanctum of a Hindu templewhere resides the murti (idol or icon) of the primary deity of the temple. Literally the word means “womb chamber”, from the Sanskritwords garbha for womb and griha for house. Only ‘priests’ (pujari) are allowed to enter this chamber.
Although the term is often associated with Hindu temples, it is also found in Jain and Buddhist temples…
In temples with a spire or vimana, this chamber is placed directly underneath it, and the two of them form the main vertical axis of the temple. These together may be understood to represent the axis of the world through Mount Meru. The garbha griham is usually also on the main horizontal axis of the temple which generally is an east-west axis. In those temples where there is also a cross-axis, the garbha gṛha is generally at their intersection.

In the Dravida style, the garbhagriha took the form of a miniature vimana with other features exclusive to southern Indian temple architecture such as the inner wall together with the outer wall creating a pradakshina around the garbhagriha. The entrance is highly decorated. The inner garbhagriha or shrine became a separate structure, more elaborately adorned over time.
More often garbhagriha is square and sits on a plinth, its location calculated to be a point of total equilibrium and harmony as it is representative of a microcosm of the Universe. In the centre is placed the image of the deity.
But sometimes, for the temples of feminine deities, the garbagriha is rectangular. For example in the temple of Varahi Deula in Chaurasi.
The present structure of most of these temples is a two-storeyed vimana with a square garbhagriha and a surrounding circumambulatory path, an ardha-mandapa and a narrower maha-mandapa.

This is a Blue Morpho (Morpho Peleides) butterfly, one of the largest butterflies in the world with a wingspan up to eight inches. Light reflects from the microscopic scales on their wingbacks, giving a vivid iridescent appearance, and they are mainly seen active and in flight, resting only briefly. They are found in the tropical rainforests of Latin America from Mexico to Columbia.

Here we see a group of feral Pigeons (Columba Livia domestica), resting on a branch in a prime location close to the lake within the park grounds. It is a relative of a relative of Stock doves and Rock Doves which are the purest of the species.

One is born from a woman, ends up in Earth.
Hinduism accords the respect these deserve.
A woman is called Gruha Lakshmi, one who brings Prosperity to Home.
Tamil calls her Illal, one who owns/rules the Home.
Similarly Earth is given the respect it deserves for it supports from Birth to Death.
Earth is eulogized as Mother and there are Vedic Sukthas in praise of the Earth, Bho Suktham.
There is Neela Suktham, Neela is considered to be the consort of Lord Vishnu.
Such being the case, there is no wonder in Hinduism calling the Sanctum Sanctorum of a Temple as Garbha Gruha, Gharbha meaning The Womb and Gruha, the Home.
Tamil calls The Gharbhagriha as Karuvarai, meaning ‘where the Foetus stays’
One’s first Home is the womb.
A Hindu temple consists of an inner sanctum, thegarbha griha or womb-chamber, where the primary idol or deity is housed along with Purusa. The garbhagriha is crowned by a tower-like Shikhara, also called the Vimana. The architecture includes an ambulatory for parikrama(circumambulation), a congregation hall, and sometimes an antechamber and porch.
The Hindu temple architecture reflects a synthesis of arts, the ideals of dharma, beliefs, values and the way of life cherished under Hinduism. It is a link between man, deities, and the Universal Purusa in a sacred space.
In ancient Indian texts, a temple is a place for Tirtha – pilgrimage.It is a sacred site whose ambience and design attempts to symbolically condense the ideal tenets of Hindu way of life. All the cosmic elements that create and celebrate life in Hindu pantheon, are present in a Hindu temple – from fire to water, from images of nature to deities, from the feminine to the masculine, from kama to artha, from the fleeting sounds and incense smells to Purusha – the eternal nothingness yet universality – is part of a Hindu temple architecture.
Garbhagriha or Garbha gruha (garbha gṛha) (Sanskrit: गर्भगॄह) is the sanctum sanctorum, the innermost sanctum of a Hindu templewhere resides the murti (idol or icon) of the primary deity of the temple. Literally the word means “womb chamber”, from the Sanskritwords garbha for womb and griha for house. Only ‘priests’ (pujari) are allowed to enter this chamber.
Although the term is often associated with Hindu temples, it is also found in Jain and Buddhist temples…
In temples with a spire or vimana, this chamber is placed directly underneath it, and the two of them form the main vertical axis of the temple. These together may be understood to represent the axis of the world through Mount Meru. The garbha griham is usually also on the main horizontal axis of the temple which generally is an east-west axis. In those temples where there is also a cross-axis, the garbha gṛha is generally at their intersection.
