One of the most amazing and surreal experiences of my life. I was out of the Buick Enclave, standing in the dusty trail and grass taking photographs of the Bison herd as they turned and began walking straight towards me.
They were calm and unworried by my presence, no angry bulls, no mothers and young babies to defend, and so I stood my ground and the herd passed right beside me, touching distance. An amazing experience in the wilds of the Alaska Highway.

This photograph of a Mother Wood Bison (Bison bison athabascae), was taken an altitude of Four hundred and sixty five metres, at 16:10pm on Wednesday May 11th 2016 past Muncho Lake Provincial Partk and heading towards Liard River Hot springs at Mile 475 on the Alazka Highway 97,British Columbia, Canada.
Often referred to incorrectly as Buffalo, the Bull Wood Bison roams the plains along the Alaska Highway, and I was fortunate to have a few encounters with these huge, majestic beauties, having several of the herd pass close by me at one point. These are the largestnative terrestrial Mammals in North America and are commonly regerred to as the American Bison. At six years, a mature Bull can exceed Two metres at the shoulder and weigh 900kgs.

a memory from Sankeien Gardens in Yokohama (Japan)
The flower's name is higanbana (彼岸花) in Japanese.
It is actually part of the amaryllis family of flowers... one of my
favorites in Fall.
By respected architect Robert Macfarlane Cameron, 1896-97; alterations by Cooper and Taylor Architects, 1904. 2-storey, 7-bay near rectangular-plan Jacobean style golf club house. Whitewashed harl; half-timbering at 1st floor; red sandstone ashlar dressings. Red sandstone plinth; timber corbel blocks at 1st floor; overhanging timber bracketed eaves. Red sandstone quoins; predominantly stone mullions at ground; timber mullions at 1st floor. Basket-arched loggia (infilled in bay to left) comprising fluted pilasters and decorative spandrel carving. "ANO D 1896" centred in apex above right.
A fine example of a 'Jacobean in harl and half timber' golf club, with fine detailing, massing, use of materials and including a high quality complimentary interior decorative scheme. This large purpose-built golf club is relatively unaltered and has an important historical connection to the history of golf in Scotland.
The Royal Burgess Golfing Society of Edinburgh holds claim to being the oldest golfing society in the world, with references to it being instituted in 1735 and has since then forged a rich and colourful part of the history of Edinburgh and the game of golf. The club's members first played golf on Bruntsfield Links and used the Golf Tavern as a makeshift clubhouse.
The architect of the Royal Burgess, Robert Macfarlane Cameron, was born in Edinburgh. He was articled to David and John Bryce on 14 September 1875, remaining there as an assistant after completing his apprenticeship. In 1881 he joined the staff of Robert Matheson at the Office of Works as a temporary draughtsman, moving to the Prison Board Architects' Department in 1882.
In respect of Perfectionism.
I don't think I was born a perfectionist, but I know I become one.
I don't remember if as a child I understood or wish to be a perfectionist, but I know, I aimed for perfectionism later in my life. Probably in my very early 20's, I understood I'm able to bring the best of me in a perfect way. The ability and understanding arrived with life itself.
Perfectionism become part of my creation in many fields. (not in all) It become my wish to create perfect, as much as it was possible for me...And a second nature to me, in some subjects.
Is it really possible to be a perfectionist in posting in internet.... ???
Unfortunately ONLY SOMETIMES.
Why ??? - If you depend on someone else, only sometimes you can be a perfectionist yourself.
If things are only depend on yourself, you can be a perfectionist.
Have yourself a perfect day!!
With my dignity to you!!

I hung out with Professor Bikenstein last night in Wicker Park.
We had a cool conversation as we watched the craziness of the world roll by on a Saturday evening.
Bikenstein thought I was foolish to get the surgery on my finger for that spider bite.
He said it would have healed on its own and that I let fear be the thing that made me decide to have the surgery.
The Professor doesn't have much faith in the medical system.
He's got some health problems that he doesn't think the doctors are treating properly.
I dig where the dude comes from.
I mean... he's got some crazy theories... but I can understand why.
We disagree on a lot of things.
But that's cool because I always respect his viewpoint.
Bikenstien's become one of those 'constants' in my life.
Almost a reference point on the journey.
I really appreciate the conversations we share.
Rock on Professor Bikenstein!
New to the well respected former operator, Southern Coaches, Barrhead, Scotland, in 09/2010, registered XX60YRS, and latterly with John Hunter, Clackmannan, Scotland, this smart B12 has had a wheelchair lift since fitted. It is seen here on Store Street, Manchester, on 05/04/2023, while on layover for First TransPennine Express Rail Replacement work. This operator is no relation to the former Speke based Express Travel Services of National Express fame, but a Lancashire based operator whose legals state Express Travel NW Ltd. [This set contains 8 photos] The J. Sidna Allen house (1911) in Fancy Gap, Virginia is a timber frame one-and-a-half-story Queen Anne on a brick foundation. Diamond-shaped shingles cover the upper portion of the building, and ornamental wood trim abounds. It has a cross-gable slate roof intersected by dormer windows and a hexagonal tower capped by a cone. The roof line is complex as a result of the dormers and tower. The Eastlake brackets and scalloping in the cornices correspond to the brackets and flat drops of the porch (best seen in image #6). The front gable roof and front dormer roof ridges formerly had a pattern of iron cresting them, which I assume will appear on the restored structure. There are two exterior brick chimneys and an interior one, each capped with a stone course, four stone insets and corbelled brickwork at the top.
The porch has a shed roof with shingles, brackets and scalloping; at one corner is a gazebo with a conical slate roof and a banquet of wood decoration. Above the front entrance, and connected to a door in the tower, was a balcony (missing at this time in the restoration process). The porch support columns and turned balusters are also currently missing. A small side porch on one side of the house shows a similar pattern of decoration. The entrance has sidelights and a rectangular transom. The molded trim, simulating piers, occurs as window surrounds as well. Most of the windows are temporarily covered: they originally were stained or leaded, many with intricate patterns. Some were 3-part, showing a classical Palladian influence. Some were decorated with a border of smaller colored panes in Queen Anne-style.
Steps led from the road up the hill to the front porch; at present, they are not there. It's easy to see the beauty of this home, even in its pre-restoration state by the Carroll County Historical Society. Architecturally significant, the J. Sidna Allen House was placed on the National Register of Historic Places July 15, 1974 with ID # 74002112
Allen and his wife, who designed their own home, enjoyed it for about a year before the state of Virgnia confiscated the property. Then occurred the Hillsville Massacre of 1912 involving the Allen family in a melee where the judge and some county officials were killed. Sidna Allen was sentenced to life imprisonment; two members of his family were executed. A superb discussion on the Hillsville Massacre and its cast is found at theroanoker.com/interests/history/hillsville-massacre .
An article about Sidna's brother Floyd and the family and trial is at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floyd_Allen
An article on the restoration of the house is at www.thecarrollnews.com/news/4668/undoing-revisionist-history

[A series of 6 photos] This circa 1900 store is located in Blackstone, Nottoway County, Virginia. A plaque on the building reads as follows: "This building originally had a sidewalk entrance to the upstairs. During World War II, when Blackstone was under mandatory rent control, the upstairs was the rent rate office. This is where rental rates were set for housing at that time. It has also been home to Sanitary Barber Shop and Watkins Jewels. The exterior has an historic Mesker Bros. metal facade dating back to the late 1800s."
This Mesker Brothers metal facade is colorful, especially with the use of gold and black in the projecting cornice. Between the end brackets (each with a fleur-de-lis) is a course of sunburst motifs in the cloud-like shapes. Below this is a course of the fleur-de-lis pattern that spans the width of the structure. A series of 8 Corinthian columns, each resting on a base of double rosettes, separate the various units of the 2nd story. At each end is a panel featuring double dolphins. The five windows are separated by the other columns, and above each window is a variation of the sunburst ornament.
Blackstone, a town of about 3,300 people is in economically deprived Southside Virginia; but the town has managed a revitalization program for its business district with many storefronts restored to an original appearance. Nearby Fort Pickett has probably contributed to the town's prosperity. This structure is a contributing building to the Blackstone Historical District, added to the National Register of Historic Places January 25, 1991 with reference number 90002174.
The nomination form for the Blackstone Historical District is at www.dhr.virginia.gov/VLR_to_transfer/PDFNoms/142-0007_Bla...

„I respect all German people. You are so good.“
„I respect all German people. You are so good.“
Alban, sei herzlich willkommen in Deutschland. Deine Offenheit und Freundschaft haben mich heute sehr berührt. Danke, dass es Dich gibt. Friede mit Dir.
The church altar table has been made ready for tomorrow's Remembrance Sunday service.
Remembrance Sunday is a national opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.
We remember the Armed Forces, and their families, from Britain and the Commonwealth, the vital role played by the emergency services and those who have lost their lives as a result of conflict or terrorism.
A day to mark our respect and be thankful to those who died so that we may live freely today.

Typical really. I travel to Iceland, surrounded by some of the most majestic scenery on the planet, and some of my favourite pictures are a series of shots of a brutalist concrete power station.
Personally, I think this particular power station says a lot about Icelanders and their respect for nature. The station itself is at the end of a massive valley, far away from the nearest major population and not even visible from the road, and yet, rather than putting up some ugly monstrosity, the power station is decorated with sculpture by Sigurjón Ólafsson.
With the aqua green water against the grey power concrete, the 6 stop filter had to come out for some long exposures.
I was happy enough with these to forget the fact we'd driven for an hour to go to Gjain, only to find the road covered in 6 inches of water on top of solid ice. Not even in a 4 x 4 was I trying that - when your road has icebergs, its time to leave.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Eight metres at 10:40am on Saturday 27th January 2024, off the Mall and Horse Guards Road within the grounds of St James's Park in Central London, one of the Royal parks of London situated in South West London.
Here we see a male Tufted duck (Aythya Fuligula), also known as the tufted pochard. It is a small diving duck with a population of close to one million birds, found in northern Eurasia. The scientific name is derived from Ancient Greek aithuia, an unidentified seabird mentioned by authors including Hesychius and Aristotle, and Latin fuligo 'soot' and gula 'throat'.

BEATLE McCARTNEY TRASHES BUSH AT OBAMA's WHITEHOUSE
PAUL McCartney...just could not resist bashing former President Bush at the Obama whitehouse in his recent visit. He said, to paraphrase:
...it is finally good that we have a President who knows what a library is...
In my opinion, his remark exhibits what is so evident in today's men of fame and fortune, and that is, lack of character. Yes, to make a comment of that nature shows no class and no character.
Respect!

When God created mothers of children with autism
He had been 6 days of working overtime.
An angel appeared and said:
"You cross a whole lot of time and work in these units'
"Do you have the specifications of this order already read?" Asked God tired.
"The mother of a child must have very good eyes,
so they can see how special her child,
when all blinded by the syndrome.
She has much more energy than is normally required
so she never gives up,
even when others do.
Her skin must be extra thick to endure all the injustice
and any criticism of her parenting skills.
I gave her an even stronger hearts
with a greater capacity to love and understand.
"God," said the angel as she touched his sleeve,
"You'd better get some rest and tomorrow to continue working.
"I can not," said God, "there are more autistic children than the world knows.
The angel flew slowly around the creature and studied it carefully.
Suddenly she stopped and leaned forward.
Her fingers glided across the cheek of the woman.
"They leak," said the angel, "I think you too long to have worked through
"That's not a leak" said God, "that's a tear.
"Where is that?" Asked the angel,
"I suppose for pent-up emotions,
for too much injustice,
for lack of understanding. "God.
"You're really brilliant," said the angel
God looked somber and leaned back in his chair.
"The tears I have not made," he said.....
"Not a cry for attention, but a scream for respect"
