Could Your Clothes Affect Your Work Performance?
Have you ever considered the possibility that what you wear affects the way you act and perform? Maybe you have heard about this relating to sports, but in reality, it goes far beyond sports into our daily lives and the work place. Just think back to a day when you’ve chosen to lounge around the house in your pajamas all day and compare it to a day when you intentionally dressed well. How were those days different?
While not everyone is going to be affected in the same way, there are a number of ways that what you wear can affect your behavior and overall performance: your clothing can have power over your mind. In this article, we’ll be primarily focusing on how your clothes affect your work performance.
More Confidence
We’ve undoubtedly heard plenty about how your appearance affects the perception others have of you. But could it affect the perception you have of yourself? The simple answer is yes. Not only does dressing well for your work improve how others perceive you, but it increases your own confidence as well. You can use your clothing as a tool to help you take ownership of your job and do it with confidence.
More Authoritative
You have probably noticed how people are more likely to trust someone that is dressed appropriately for the work that they do. Whether that means they are wearing a uniform, or otherwise dressed to match the profession they are in, they are more likely to be respected. Simply wearing the right clothing can empower someone to be more authoritative in their position and take ownership.
More Motivation and Productivity
I don’t know about you, but I think I would have a hard time being as motivated to do my work well if I came to work every day in my pajamas. The way you dress for your job can affect how motivated you are to work and therefore also affect how productive you are. If you look the part, you’re more likely to feel the part and will have a greater drive to do what you are supposed to do.
More Professionalism
Again, if you look the part, it’s going behave accordingly. When you dress professionally (in alignment with your profession), you will more than likely act more like a professional in your industry. You may notice that because you look more capable and qualified, you feel that way as well. Also, the way you dress for your work can raise the standard of how you choose to behave in different scenarios. You may be more conscious of the fact that you are representing a company and will want to represent them well.
More Focus
Being appropriately dressed for the job could actually increase your focus. If you are wearing something that makes you feel like you should be lounging in your home, it may be more challenging to put your full focus into your work.
What Is Appropriate Depends on Your Workplace
Obviously, what you wear to work is going to depend on your job. While professional business attire is appropriate and even expected for some workplaces, it wouldn’t make sense at all in another profession, such as construction.
When a company determines what their employees can and should wear to the workplace, here are a few things they should consider:
Could this help our employees feel more confident and professional in what they do?
Will what they wear help our employees feel proud of representing our company?
What kind of atmosphere are we trying to set?
What kind of interaction do we have with customers and how do we want them to perceive us?
Can the work attire expectations we set help boost overall employee moral or will it feel like a discouraging aspect of the job?
Can our employees comfortably and effectively do their work while wearing what we’ve asked them to wear?
Just like wearing nice gym clothing can help people feel more sporty and motivated to exercise, the clothing people wear for the workplace will affect how they perform. If you are concerned that too casual attire could result in a lazy work attitude, you may want to change your requirements. For others, such as the hospitality industry, a casual and friendly atmosphere is exactly what they want to set so more casual attire is appropriate.
Taking This to Another Level
I think we’ve said what we’ve wanted to say: yes, in many cases, clothes affect your work performance.
Are uniforms part of your company’s clothing requirements? One way you can help increase confidence for your employees is to provide quality, custom uniforms that they will be proud to wear. Having your logo embroidered or screen printed on quality materials is a great way to provide your employees with uniforms they can appreciate while at the same time promote your brand.

Saw this absurd attempt by Texaco to subliminally cause consumers to link their product, gasoline, with the word "Clean". The average person doesn't realized or maybe even understand at all the power of marketing and how even a small line in there at the bottom with a different type treatment and it appears different value of gray can effect their opinion or judgment even though there's no such thing as cleaning gasoline.
This is without a doubt not an attempt to sell the product to consumers who want a gas product that cleans out their engine when they use it, but to cause as many consumers to believe their gasoline is actually clean therefore more environmentally friendly
Also, even more sneaky is the use of the color blue which is commonly used in medical advertising a lot because this color causes the mind to relate professionalism and cleanliness among other things. The color green also holds these attributes but with "going green" being such a trendy phase that would negate the subliminal aspect of this and your average consumer would likely recognize this however it is pretty interesting that they either found an image or had one taken that has a splash of green in the background. It's certain all these things are not by chance but by design.
If you dont believe me on the Color Theory angle a simple google search of that term or "the meaning of colors" or "emotional responses to color" etc will tell you all you need to know.

THE REWRITING OF HISTORY.
Friends, One of the most contentious issues of the last few years relates to the rewriting of history textbooks by the NDA government and theirrejection by the UPA government. If there can be any legitimate criticism of the new NCERT textbooks, it can only be that, perhaps owing to thepulls and pressures of coalition politics, no real paradigm shift was attempted and no alternative, indigenous vision of Indian history was sought to.
be constructed. The charges regarding 'saffronization' -one fails to understand how this term has come to acquire a negative meaning -fall flat at themost cursory of glances; for the Supreme Court verdict in September, 2002, that the teaching of religious ideals is not against Indian secularism,.
and the fact that Marxist academics talking of 'saffronizat.ion' were, in fact, referring only to some factual errors which crept into the new textbooksas a result of oversight, and not to any concrete instances of 'saffronization', come as a resounding slap in the face of Marxist propaganda. So far as 'distortion' of history -another catchword from the Marxist lexicon -is concerned, any serious student of socia.
l sciencesunderstands that history is not a body of factual information, but a discipline based on contesting interpretations and approaches to questions of the.
past. Every model of historical 'knowledge' is thus only a construct; a way of looking at the past. Any historical narrative based on legitimatesources and coherently argued does constitute avalid contribution to historiography. However, 'distortions' are possible in the case of school textbooks, for any attempt of selective concealment and projection of facts by anideology having no popular base in order to indoctrinate young minds can be considered nothing but a devious attempt at 'distortion'. Instancesgalore of such attempts can be seen in the old NCERT textbooks. R.S. Sharma's 'Ancient India' talks about 'Aryan migration' -a theory that was.
passed on by imperialist writers to the child people, the Indian Marxists, as 'Aryan invasion' .
before it got toned down for want of evidence -without.
any archaeological evidence, which is indispensable for the study of pre-history, proto-history and early historical societies. All that the theory restson is a weak philological basis. Even Romila Thapar has now been compelled to accept that there is no conclusive proof of Aryan migration. Thatbeef eating was common in early India is enthusiastically argued, despite the fact that while early literary evidences are often contradictory, thearchaeological evidence on beef eating is far from conclusive. The bones, with cut marks, found in d.
ifferent excavations are those of cattle, ageneric term which includes cow, buffalo, bison etc. Nowhere in these excavations have cow bones been conclusively found to establish beef.
eating. While accounting for the rise of heterodoxies, R.S. Sharma takes refuge in economic determinism, arguing that the altered material context-the need to work an iron plough in the middle Gangetic plains and the consequent need to preserve cattle wealth-led to a change in ideology. Thus, the simplistic 'base-superstructure' model is used by a Marxist ideologue to convince young minds that historical evolution is a result of thedialectics of material forces, without mentioning that this is only 'one' philosophical approach to the understanding of societies and 'he', being aMarxist himself, prefers it over others. This Marxist regime of truth is calculated to create a band of future Marxists -note that history students inDU, JNU, etc. are often Marxists despite the ideology otherwise having only a peripheral presence in India-who have been 'converted' at ayoungage! Only a rewriting ofhistory textbooks can prevent further conversions byMarxist missionaries! The textbooks on medieval India have sought to project the medieval state in India as non-theocratic, ignoring the fact that 'theocracy' isnot the real issue, as far as the medieval state is concerned. For, the basis of state in medieval India was unequivocally Islam, which providedalmost all the symbols of state, and provided legitimacy to that state. Numerous instances of temple destructions are rationalized as quests forpower, wealth and legitimacy from the Ulema, despite the fact that no evidence can show that fanaticism was not a reason for the destruction of.
Hindu religious symbols. In dividing the entire political history of modern India into two compartments -'the secular and anti-imperialisf as counterposed to the.
'communal and pro-imperialisf -Bipan Chandra has been guilty of a distortion of the worst kind. Nowhere in the Class XII textbook does hemention that there was a profound overlap -right from the grassroots to the level of top leadership -between the Congress and the HinduMahasabha, till the Congress, under the influence of the left, chose to break that connection around 1938. Men like Lajpat Rai and Malaviya, toname just two, had been actively involved with both the organizations. Since such a dialogue between the supposedly 'secular and 'communal'presupposes the absence of a 'secular-communal' dichotomy, Bipan Chandra's entire model is a flawed one. Paying obeisance to theCommunists, the Modern India textbook makes no mention of their boycott of all Gandhian mass movements and their act of sabotaging the 1942Quit India Movement. Understanding that any mention of the support offered by the 'secular' CPI to the 'communal' Muslim League over itsdemand for the formation of an Islamic State, i.e., Pakistan, from 1942 to 1946, would simply collapse the 'secular-communal' model, Prof. Chandra.
has -as have all other 'secular historians -taken recourse to strategic silence : this glaring evidence of the CPI's treachery has been made todisappear from all history textbooks. If such partisan history writing is not 'distortion', then the word 'distortion' should itself be given a decent burial. Thus, what is required is a rejection of Marxist history and the construction of an alternative, indigenous readingof our national past. .

This picture, relates to the poem below.. the poem is called "seen from above"...
I took this picture from a height, thus names it seen from above
A dead beetle lies on the path through the field.
Three pairs of legs folded neatly on its belly.
Instead of death's confusion, tidiness and order.
The horror of this sight is moderate,
its scope is strictly local, from the wheat grass to the mint.
The grief is quarantined.
The sky is blue.
To preserve our peace of mind, animals die
more shallowly: they aren't deceased, they're dead.
They leave behind, we'd like to think, less feeling and less
world,
departing, we suppose, from a stage less tragic.
Their meek souls never haunt us in the dark,
they know their place,
they show respect.
And so the dead beetle on the path
lies unmourned and shining in the sun.
One glance at it will do for meditation—
clearly nothing much has happened to it.
Important matters are reserved for us,
for our life and death, a death
that always claims the right of way.

The discharge paper relates to the mail ship Orivia built in 1897 and relates to the period betwen June and August 1900.
The Orivia sank on the 12 January 1912 after striking the Billy Rock in the Falklands Ireland. The crew, passengers and mail were saved by two tug boats. It’s not known if Alexander was on board the ship, his daughter Patricia never referred to it.
Alexander was born in 1862 in Price St Birkenhead was the eldest of 8 children. He did not complete his education but ran away to sea. He became a Bosun in the Merchant Navy and sailed around the world going to China for Tea and around Cape Horn to Valparaiso Chile to collect Guano. Alexander had retired when Patricia was born and she remembers her father as a quiet and gentle man who spent the evenings with her telling stories about his adventures and bought her comics from the back of Birkenhead Market.
Alexander died in 1945 of Pneumonia in the Workhouse Hospital Birkenhead.
Aleander’s father was Gilbert (Gabriel) McKellar who was born in 1839 at Levinside Terrace Dumbarton and died in 1904 Priory St. Birkenhead. In Liverpool Gilbert worked first in the ship-yards in Liverpool then went to work in the John Lairds shipyard in Birkenhead which had moved from the Wallasey tidal inlet to the River Mersey foreshore.
The father of Gilbert was Daniel who was a Shipwright and in Dumbarton the shipyards there constructed Clipper ships like the Cutty Sark; these ships were both sleek and fast and used to convey high value cargo from India and China.
Daniel McKellar moved with his 5 children to Gilbert House Howard St Liverpool, after his wife, Helen died in 1848.
Alexander’s mother was Margaret Roberts who was born in 1831 – Llanelidan Denbighshire and died in 1918 at 13 Priory St. Birkenhead. The parents of Margret were Robert Roberts from Clocaenog and Jane Patry from Llanelidan and Robert was a Hill farmer.
The sister of Margaret was Alice who married the brother of Gilbert, Alexander and they all lived with their families in various houses around St Mary’s Church.

Though one of the first paintings Picasso made in 1932, it clearly relates stylistically to works of the late 1920s. This raises the question as to whether Picasso dated works when he began their making or when he considered them complete. Subsequent groups of works show greater coherence, suggesting that, if they were not made in a single day, he produced them over a short period of time that ended with the inscribed date.

From Picasso 1932: Love, Fame, Tragedy (March-September 2018)
The EY Exhibition: Picasso 1932 – Love, Fame, Tragedy takes visitors on a month-by-month journey through 1932, a time so pivotal in Picasso’s life and work that it has been called his ‘year of wonders’. More than 100 outstanding paintings, sculptures and works on paper demonstrate his prolific and restlessly inventive character, stripping away common myths to reveal the man and the artist in his full complexity and richness.
