The story relates that Bishop Aubert (Saint-Aubert) of the city of Avranches, founded a shrine in 708 at Mont-Tombe (former name of Mont Saint-Michel), after three apparitions of the archangel Saint Michael (Saint-Michel in French) . Consecrated in 709, the church has since never ceased to attract visitors and pilgrims from all over the world. The architecture of Mont Saint Michel and its bay make it the most frequented tourist site in Normandy and the second most frequented in France after Paris

Saint Evangelist Luke on a sail under the images of the prophets (from left to right Ezekiel, Isaiah, Aaron).

Artist Ivan Yizhakevich (1864-1963).

Ezekiel, also spelled Ezechiel, was an Israelite priest.

The Book of Ezekiel, relating his visions and acts, is named after him.

The Abrahamic religions acknowledge Ezekiel as a prophet. According to the narrative, Ezekiel prophesied the destruction of Judah's capital city Jerusalem. Then in 587 BCE, the Babylonian empire conquered Jerusalem, destroyed Solomon's Temple, and sent the Jewish upper classes into the Babylonian captivity.

However, Ezekiel also prophesied the eventual restoration of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel. It is believed he died around 570 BCE; Ezekiel's Tomb is the most important Jewish religious site in Mesopotamia. Three decades later in 539 BCE, the Persian empire conquered Babylon and the Edict of Cyrus repatriated the Jews in the return to Zion.

The name "Ezekiel" means "God is strong" or "God strengthens" in Hebrew.

Isaiah - one of the biblical prophets, coming from a noble Jewish priestly family, was born in Jerusalem around 765 BC. e. He prophesied in Hebrew. Isaiah is notable primarily for its prophecies about the Messiah.

Aaron - according to Abrahamic religions, he was a prophet, a high priest, and the elder brother of Moses. Knowledge of Aaron, along with his brother Moses, exclusively comes from religious texts, such as the Bible and the Quran.

Wow...how I relate to this passage:

Through spiritual exchanges with Tibetan Buddhists during his retreat in Darjeeling, near the majestic mountain of Kanchenjunga, Merton saw that there was “another side of the mountain.” 103 For him, the mountain was a symbol of that which he had sought on his pilgrimage to Asia. He realized that “God speaks, and God is to be heard, not only on Sinai, not only in my own heart, but in the voice of the stranger” on the other side of the mountain.

-Thomas Merton’s encounter with Buddhism and beyond: his interreligious dialogue, inter-monastic exchanges, and their legacy / Jaechan Anselmo Park, OSB.

“The full beauty of the mountain is not seen until you too consent to the impossible paradox: it is and is not. When nothing more needs to be said, the smoke of ideas clears, the mountain is SEEN.”

-Thomas Merton, AJ, 156–157 (Asian Journal)

Złocieniec is a knot point station built in 1877 and originally named Falkenburg, with the suffix (Pommern) added later. It used to have a steam locomotive depot for three locomotives to serve the two railway lines 210 (Chojnice - Runowo Pomorskie) and 410 (Grotniki Drawskie - Choszczno), which meet here, with the latter originally running from Grzmiąca, 61 kilometers further.

It relates to 18th Century. As of the time of transfer to the museum, the house was the oldest in the village and belonged to Oros family. The house has two premises: house and mudroom. It is one of the most ancient types of house planning in Zakarpattia. Walls of the house are constructed with wide oak cut blocks. Its high four-sloping roof is covered with straw.

This house is the oldest Zakarpattia house in our museum. It displays specific features of national building in valley of Tereblia-river and the middle reaches of Tysa River. The house’s area is 35.4 square meters.

This work relates to an analogy made by Glabush between paintings and individuals: "there is no starting point within the painting and it appears all at once, similar to the way we perceive a person. A person has a history and is the product of embodied memory and experience, and imagination. But when we seek to really see a persona we perceive a totality not a collection of parts."

Now Playing Keep You

Such a beautiful song and beautiful voice. This song really touched me.

I can relate to the words, there is someone in Second Life that I have said good bye to and I miss him every day. I will always treasure the love and laughter we shared and I will never forget him.

That being said, we must all move on. Treasure the good times and learn from our mistakes. There is no use hanging onto something that is past tense.

Lyrics

We said goodbye. Tried our hand at magic.

But we couldn't make us disappear.

Not a day goes by I don't wish I had you.

So in a way, I'm glad you're still here.

It's a bitter sweet victory.

Lovin' the ghost in front of me.

Now I can't laugh, can't cry.

And I can't run, can't hide.

What do I gotta do?

What do I gotta do to keep you?

What do I gotta do to keep you from doing this to me?

I wrote a couple of notes.

One in love, one in anger.

They're lying there dying in the dresser drawer.

Lived louder than my voice. Struggled through a stranger.

He loved me until I loved you even more.

It's a bitter sweet victory.

Knowing someone else wanted me.

Now I can't laugh, can't cry.

And I can't run, can't hide.

You get used to the pain, and numb to the sting

Till you can't feel anything.

You tried to explain, but I couldn't hear it.

As if your words were my tears.

Flowing freely, warm and quiet.

From the edges of my eyes and my ears.

Then all that disappears.

Now I can't laugh, can't cry.

And I can't run, can't hide.

Now I can't laugh, can't cry.

And I can't run, can't hide.

What do I gotta do?

What do I gotta do to keep you?

What do I gotta do to keep you from doing this to me?

The recent history of Riaño is marked by the traumatic construction of the reservoir that bears its name, for which, destroyed, and subsequently flooded, the original town, the ancient Riaño.

The process of construction of the swamp gave rise to numerous popular mobilizations; Clashes with the forces of order; And even suicides, before the eviction of each one of the houses for its later demolition on the part of the machinery of the State. It was carried out for the demolition of houses by the government, the military occupation of the towns of the region for several months, thus effecting the eviction by force of the neighbors who refused to abandon them.

A final fact worthy of mention, which is added to the management carried out in the process of destruction of the valleys of the Leon region, was the fact that the closure of the dam of Riaño occurred on the date of December 31 Of 1987; When the legal circumstance was known, that from 1 January 1988 a new European directive was in force which prohibited the construction of reservoirs such as Riaño for environmental reasons; Directive relating to the protection of valleys and high mountain villages in the territories of the European Community.

The Hebrew word חֶסֶד chesed relates to lovingkindness between people. It is the Hebrew equivalent of the Greek word “agape”. It is about people who in a state of grace under God's care are able to share in righteous conversation and fellowship.

Homily071623OT15Sunday

Wow, what a thought provoking and long Gospel reading. I was going to read the optional shorter Gospel reading but then my homily would have been longer. In the longer version of the Gospel, we get a beautiful parable and then an explanation of how we are to interpret it. It is not hard to to understand.

Our Gospel reading begins…”Jesus went out of the house and sat down by the sea.” Already, I can relate with Jesus desiring rest. If you are like me…I find great peace in the rhythm of water and the sound waves. But his moment of peace, turns into an opportunity to teach the large crowd that gathers around HIM. Our first reading gives us a context for “Parable of the Sower,” that God’s word will not return to HIM empty but will achieve the end for which it was sent. May, I add whether we like it or not…whether we are aware that we are participating or not. God is speaking to us a variety of ways which includes through; the church, Holy Scripture, creation and others. The Gospel acclamation for today states it quite clearly: “The seed is the word of God, Christ is the sower, all who come to him will have life forever.”

The question that arises is whether we are listening or not. Today’s parable gives us four degrees of listening. Theses scenarios are simple and engaging. Let’s talk about each for a moment.

First, we have the seed that is landing in a hard and well worn path. These individuals hear the word but do not understand. I love birds…so every other day, I sprinkle bird seed a long a cinder block wall in my backyard. The birds come and feast on the seed. The path Jesus is talking about must be very hard and compact. Seeds will be smashed or gobbled up. At no point is the seed allowed to sprout, the heart is left empty.

Secondly, we have the seed that is being tossed on rocky ground and has no soil for it to sprout. These individuals receives the word with joy, but when challenged fall away. I have met many people in RCIA throughout the years who have had the zeal of a convert. Many fall away rather quickly over what I call petty issues. It can be very discouraging, especially when it is stressed in our teaching that even faithful Catholics can say mean things…we are still very human, but our relationship with Jesus is the reason we assemble.

The third scenario feels like the one category that we can all relate to or even find ourselves being challenged by. The seed that is landing among thorns. Theses individuals hear the word, but worldly cares…choke any growth that takes hold, and the plant bares no fruit. One thorn I constantly read about is how believers in Christ live in a fantasy world. No, I say. Why is it that Hollywood only gives us superhero movies. I read recently that most people have what is called, “Superhero fatigue.” Where is the truth to be found? Not in our Politics, Not in our insane consumerism, Not in our social media accounts. As believers we are in a reasonable position to say who is leaving in a fantasy world?

Finally, there the seed landing on rich soil. These individuals hear the word and understands it and put it into practice. I believe most of us here have received the word on the rich soil of our hearts and we are baring much fruit in how we act and speak to others. We are listening constantly!

Carmelite, Ruth Burrows, in her book Essence of Prayer states:

“But faith, to be real faith, is incessant, always operating, governing the entirety of life with nothing whatever left out: governing our thinking, our point of view, the forming of judgements, our actions.”

Divine love offers itself in the sacrament of the present moment. The accent is not on what I can give to God, how I can serve God, but `what do YOU want me to do?' and the answer is in front of our noses, in what needs doing here and now, rising out of the actual situation we are in.

This artworkwork by Banksy appeared on the parimeter wall of Reading Prison, The significance of the sheets of paper and the typewriter relates to Oscar Wilde being incarcerated here, and writing "the Ballad of Reading Gaol". The artwork appeared during the campaign to convert the old prison into an Arts Centre. It is ironic that the artwork has had to be "locked up" behind perspex and wire fencing!

A feeling likely every single one of us can relate to right now! I am definitely feeling a bit antsy, particularly wanting to get back out and head out for multiple days exploring and photographing our wonderful natural world. However, looks like I need to content myself with the digital form only for now (together with some walks around the neighborhood). This was from a visit to Boardman Tree Farm in Oregon a few years ago. It was a popular stop for photographers in the fall to shoot the rows of aspen, but sadly it was sold and the last trees harvested and converted to farmland.

This particular crop was from a much larger pano I took (9 or 10 frames wide I think). I was just experimenting, and when I got it on the computer some of the most interesting symmetries got lost in the wider angle but cropping it down made it more pleasing and also made the "bars" at the end of this row visible. I thought that was an interesting little detail.

It has in fact been a delight for me to spend time with my family in recent weeks, and I feel in some ways like it's made up for at least a little bit of the time I missed traveling for the job when the girls were younger. I am realizing just how disruptive the constant business travel was, not just to me but to our whole family. We have a practice now of stating what we appreciate and are grateful for at dinner each night which I think has been helpful. I am extremely grateful for such a loving and wonderful family. They have kept a fantastic sense of humor and a warm and cooperative spirit in a time when it's easy to let anxiety consume one's emotions. I hope everyone is able to find some light and color in their lives right now.

Stay safe!

EXPLORE # 49 ...... many thanks :) :)

There are two stories relating to this charming ancient packhorse bridge which dates back to 1561 crossing the River Hodder at Hurst Green.

The first relates to Oliver Cromwell's 8,000 strong parliamentary army who crossed the bridge during his march from Skipton to intercept the Royalists at the Battle of Preston in 1648 where they fought the King's men and that is were it earned it's name.

The second is that J R R Tolkien visited this area in the 1940's when his eldest son John was studying for the priesthood at Stonyhurst College so many places in "The Lord of The Rings" are based on this scenic part of the world ..... Brandywine Bridge was based on Cromwell's Bridge and it's very easy to imagine the middle earth dwarves crossing this way.

I am sure all of you can relate to the feeling of waiting for a moment or a photo opportunity for months and years and then feeling giddy with joy (and quite overwhelmed) when it actually arrives. For me that was Kenya. I am sure you guys have deduced that by now, based on my endless rambling, but moving on!

Not only have a dreamt of taking photos of the great African wilderness for years but in my little head I have dreamt about that ‘moment’ when all the elements come together and I KNOW I have taken a good shot. There is no greater joy than that moment is there? My trip was filled with several such moments including the one above. Would you believe that this herd is right outside our lodge - Ol Tukai, less than 200 m away? Look at them marching without a care in world. And look at that adorable baby, with its trunk, totally out of control! It is the very definition of surreal. I have said it a million times and I will say it again, Amboseli, your place in my heart cannot be taken by any other!

Loreena Mckennitt - Dante's prayer

Heartwarming story found on the internet about the birth of this amazing song:

"However, I was fortunate enough to see Loreena in concert at Massey Hall in Toronto in the late '90s. Prior to her singing her songs, she would often relate to the listening audience what inspired her to write it. As best I can recall, this was her story for Dante's Prayer. As many of you know, Loreena travels the world extensively to find inspiration for her music and expose herself to different cultures. Wouldn't we all want to do this, given the chance? In any case, on the occasion of her inspiration for Dante's Prayer, she was riding on a trans - Siberian train and indeed reading The Divine Comedy. She recounted that since there was no dining car on the train, it would stop at various towns along the way and the riders were given exactly 20 minutes to leave the train and buy food from the locals who lived in the town and would come to the train to greet and sell to the passengers. This would have happened perhaps once or twice throughout the day.

There was an attendant on the train, a woman, who would come around and seem very grumpy and rather miserable in general. At first, Loreena simply dismissed her demeanor as one of culture. One time, after Loreena had re-boarded the train after buying some food from locals, the woman came by. Loreena stopped her and gave her some of the food that she had bought, simply as an act of kindness. The woman remarked with a surprised smile and a countenance that reminded Loreena about the story that she was reading in the Divine Comedy. In that moment, she discovered her muse for the song and thought that she would never forget the look of gratitude on the attendants face, being sure that no one else had ever taken the time to consider the woman as she traveled back and forth, day after day, year after year through the dark harshness of Siberia. Loreena hoped that on some of those dark moments, the woman would remember her and perhaps return the smile to her face. And so the song was born."

274/365 I am a Daydreamer

Perhaps you can relate. I often have my "head in the clouds" thinking about far off places, creative ideas or just plain exploring my imagination. Today is one of those days. And I love it. Lately I have been focusing on being unfocused and allowing time to chase unfocused ideas and explore the landscape of the daydream.

Kinetic: Relating to, caused by, or producing motion.

These are called “Kinetic” photographs because there is motion, energy, and movement involved, specifically my and the camera’s movements.

I choose a light source and/or subject, set my camera for a long exposure (typically around 4 seconds), focus on my subject and push the shutter button. When the shutter opens I move the camera around with my hands...large, sweeping, dramatic movements. And then I will literally throw the camera several feet up into the air, most times imparting a spinning or whirling motion to it as I hurl it upward. I may throw the camera several times and also utilize hand-held motion several times in one photo. None of these are Photoshopped, layered, or a composite photo...what you see occurs in one shot, one take.

Aren’t I afraid that I will drop and break my camera? For regular followers of my photostream and this series you will know that I have already done so. This little camera has been dropped many times, and broken once when dropped on concrete outside. It still functions...not so well for regular photographs, but superbly for more kinetic work.

In 1943 Dutch artist M. C. Escher created a reptile lithograph that depicts a desk on which there is a drawing of a pattern of reptiles. The reptiles come to life and crawl around the desk, over the objects on it and eventually re-enter the drawing.

Escher would love the colors and patterns here! The Common Agama, Red-headed Rock Agama, or Rainbow Agama (Agama agama) is a species of lizard from the Agamidae family, found in most of Subsaharan Africa.

It can often be seen in the heat of the day. In the breeding season, the males develop dramatically colorful markings, the head and neck and tail turning bright orange, and the body dark blue. Outside of the breeding season, the male is a plain brown. The females and juveniles are always more cryptically marked. This lizard can be found climbing rocks and walls. Its primary source of food is insects.

The males are territorial, claiming small to medium patches of land which they defend against other mature males. Juveniles and females reside within the territories unchallenged. The mature males become agitated when confronting each other; nodding vigorously, arching, skipping sideways, and clashing tails. The loser is chased out of the territory.

His Golden Touch

One day, as Ovid relates in Metamorphoses XI, Dionysus found that his old schoolmaster and foster father, the satyr Silenus, was missing. The old satyr had been drinking wine and wandered away drunk, to be found by some Phrygian peasants who carried him to their king, Midas (alternatively, Silenus passed out in Midas' rose garden). Midas recognized him and treated him hospitably, entertaining him for ten days and nights with politeness, while Silenus delighted Midas and his friends with stories and songs. On the eleventh day, he brought Silenus back to Dionysus in Lydia. Dionysus offered Midas his choice of whatever reward he wished for. Midas asked that whatever he might touch should be changed into gold.

Midas rejoiced in his new power, which he hastened to put to the test. He touched an oak twig and a stone; both turned to gold. Overjoyed, as soon as he got home, he touched every rose in the rose garden, and all became gold. He ordered the servants to set a feast on the table. Upon discovering how even the food and drink turned into gold in his hands, he regretted his wish and cursed it. Claudian states in his In Rufinem: "So Midas, king of Lydia, swelled at first with pride when he found he could transform everything he touched to gold; but when he beheld his food grow rigid and his drink harden into golden ice then he understood that this gift was a bane and in his loathing for gold, cursed his prayer."

Tales of history relate that Dinajpur derived its name from Raja Dinaj or Dinaraj, founder of the Dinajpur Rajbari. But others say that after usurping the Ilyas Shahi rule, the famous Raja Ganesh of the early 15th century was the real founder of this house for a brief period. At the end of the 17th century Srimanta Dutta Chaudhury became the zamindar of Dinajpur and after him, his sister's son Sukhdeva Ghosh inherited the property as Srimanta's son had a premature death. Sukhdeva's son Prannath Ray became famous and powerful and began the construction of the famous Kantanagar Nava-Ratna Temple, now known as the Kantajir Mandir, one of the most precious heritage structures.

It is difficult to conceive what the main palace block looked like when it was young and bold. Wild leaves and veins have wrapped the building like octopus tendrils while the skeleton and naked brick structures give a horrid look as the ageing plaster is almost worn out of the walls. In different parts of the building, structural girders are exposed while there is no roof above. Still from his historical study and the remaining ruins, Dr Nazimuddin Ahmed gave a vivid description of the structures in one of his publications published in 1986.

"The imposing façade of the two-storey palace, facing east has a broad frontage of about 150 feet. The central part carrying a 10 feet wide verandah above is projected prominently. The front projection has a series of elegant Ionic columns in pairs with round shafts on the upper floor.

"The parapet is plain except for a curved plaque-wall in the centre, bearing in relief, two elephants standing face to face and holding a crown. Above and below it are some indistinct English letters. On either side of the balcony a broad spiral masonry staircase leads up to the upper storey. The roof of the 15 feet wide balcony collapsed.

"Immediately behind the balcony a large hall (50"X20") originally flagged with white marble stone and flanked by two 10" wide verandahs on the east and west is roofed over with massive iron girders. The lofty 25 feet high roof is in a highly disintegrating condition. On its north there is another smaller (30"X 20") hall and on the south a broad corridor leads to the inner quadrangle of residential quarters."

If the bricks could paint or write the tales of the Rajbari and its inhabitants, what a book could have been written! But with the silent walls, the palace has now grown old and inexpressive. It has faced not only the cruelty of time but also the ravages of nature like the 1897 earthquake that had left it badly damaged. Although the palace was largely rebuilt by Maharaja Sir Girijanath Ray Bahadur, time has not spared it from its claws. It is up to us now whether we would at least let the ruins remain and let our future generations see them and let their imagination flow back to the past and touch our heritage.

Jaffa, in Hebrew Yafo (Hebrew: יָפוֹ‎, About this soundYāfō (help·info)) and in Arabic Yafa (Arabic: يَافَا‎) and also called Japho or Joppa, the southern and oldest part of Tel Aviv-Yafo, is an ancient port city in Israel. Jaffa is famous for its association with the biblical stories of Jonah, Solomon and Saint Peter as well as the mythological story of Andromeda and Perseus, and later for its oranges. Jaffa is mentioned in an Ancient Egyptian letter from 1440 BCE. The so-called story of the Taking of Joppa glorifies its conquest by Pharaoh Thutmose III, whose general, Djehuty hid Egyptian soldiers in sacks carried by pack animals and sent them camouflaged as tribute into the Canaanite city, where the soldiers emerged and conquered it. The New Testament account of Saint Peter bringing back to life the widow Dorcas (recorded in Acts of the Apostles, 9:36–42, takes place in Jaffa, then called in Greek Ἰόππη (Latinized as Joppa). Acts 10:10–23 relates that, while Peter was in Jaffa, he had a vision of a large sheet filled with "clean" and "unclean" animals being lowered from heaven, together with a message from the Holy Spirit telling him to accompany several messengers to Cornelius in Caesarea Maritima. Peter retells the story of his vision in Acts 11:4–17, explaining how he had come to preach Christianity to the gentiles. Sourse: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaffa

Sea Princess Scenic Nature, Seals & Fjord Cruise tour out of Northeast Harbor Maine is a great way to see Nature and spectacular views of Mount Desert Island.

Painted in 1999 on Rail box. E to E with some members of the crew and an addition. I believe this was painted with Intel, Logik, Emer and a writer that was put down that night, that wrote Eski/Eskimo. One of those, well if were putting someone down, then we better go and get up together. So that's what we did. I want to say that we first met up at a club or something to start the night off but I can't really remember. I just remember that my piece was just smashed in tight to the end of a crushed car, nineties style. Which means, small pieces and everyone's invited to the party. Which leads me to the real story........ Well, sometimes you learn a lesson in haste when you put someone down without really putting in the effort to see if they make a good fit. I believe this train was done within one week of Eski leaving and going back to her home city, which I think was Seattle(?). Either way, it didn't really matter. I had never seen or heard from her again. I don't know if she still writes or not but all I can say is, make sure you do your due diligence when putting in a crew member. It's one of the most important moves you can make in this game. My crew has had it's share of successes and failures. For the most part, the failures came from not really knowing the character of the person. I look at it like this, any and all that have come and gone from AKB, have been either weak, dishonorable or misinformed about this culture, the graffiti writers code or ethics and how seriously passionate about it, some of us are. We've had people make bad choices that have put us all at risk and others who didn't have the heart to speak up for themselves when they weren't getting the attention they desired or thought they deserved. Either way, you live and you learn and the crew always moves on stronger and with a lesser degree for error. It's unfortunate but it's the way it's got to be. Back in the day, if you were mad cool and had similar interests as some of the crew members, you had a good shot at getting in. Nowadays, it's become like the elite organizations of the military, you have to earn your way in and it's not going to be easy. This is due to how strong our bond is, all the history, plus the bullshit, trials and tribulations that we have endured over the years and how tight we are on a personal level. To most outsiders, we would look like a bunch of disfunctional people that wouldn't have anything in common and couldn't relate to each other on a personal level..... but they don't understand Graffiti culture or the mindset of Graffiti Writers. We all come from different backgrounds, have differing degrees of education, family and social structures and status but we all share one common goal, "To rock the city and represent for AKB". No matter where we are at, or on what type of surface, we have a complete understanding and total control over that inner drive that compells us to get down and paint and represent for our crew. Sure, our families come first but that's why we call ourselves the AKB family. Everything else in life, is just gravy. Good times!

I am reposting this message and creation from my December 2019 post

Although this was written in 2019 I knew something big was going to take place on earth in the months ahead.

It is as relevant today as it was back in 2019 because it relates to today in 2021

I underestimated the severity of this message. In saying this I was extremely unsettled for many months and prayed as I knew something was going to happen but I did not know exactly what.

I had endured many months of suffering knowing. Through this process things became crystal clear to me and with that an understanding of the higher picture and ultimately a sense of surrendering to 'what is' and a sense of Peace and Calm came with this, along with so much gratitude for being guided and shown. A blessing and a curse

To add to this, many souls have sacrificed themselves - knowingly and unknowingly to wake up humanity.

We can never know the soul agreement that each of us has made when we birthed into this world.

I am eternally grateful to the many souls who have endured hell on earth, lost their lives to awaken the masses to the reality of this world.

There are many people at this time on earth who are struggling with all that is happening in our world.

I was guided with this message and design back in 2019 - it started many months before it was completed by December of that year.

I hope that this message will bring some understanding and comfort to anyone who is struggling right now.

Despite her name Black Winged Goddess, she does bring a message of Hope and Unity to humanity.

We are living in times of great destruction of the world as we know it, earth changes, fires, floods, earthquakes.

Here alone in Australia we sit in horror at the extent of the fires rampage across the country. Unprecedented fires and weather in the history of our existence (well what is on record)

Whilst horrific - the earth we live on has always been full of cyclic changes.

Ancient cities have been discovered under the sea, we are naive to think that the world as we know it will remain the same.

What continents exist now may no longer exist. What coastline exists now is slowly being swallowed up by the ocean.

Volcanic eruptions are changing the face of the planet as are earthquakes - the list is long.

We cannot stop the force of Mother Nature. We live on a planet that has always endured such destruction.

We have pole shifts taking place - all kinds of catastrophic events happening across the Globe. We are but a spit in the ocean to the wide Galaxies that we know of. Yet we think we are precious in some way.

I cannot help but wonder why I was so drawn to create this "Black Winged Goddess" let alone give her the name of Black Winged Goddess. But I was drawn, my soul was pushing me for weeks with a "slight vision" of what I needed to create. It now makes total sense to me why I was so drawn to create The Black Winged Goddess, given the state of our world and humanity.

My soul as always when I listen guides me with powerful messages and reminds me to just 'be' to accept 'what is'.

We may not like the current state of our world, but it is what it is and all we can do is stay strong within ourselves and hold the power of 'love' in our hearts despite seeing so much being played out on the planet.

Kali (Hindu) - was known as a deity of the Fearsome Demon destroying Goddess who represents death and rebirth - so her name means "Black One".

We can never truly comprehend or understand the power of mother nature - we have abused her for centuries, taken her for granted and she is a living breathing consciousness so powerful that we dare not go up against here.

In recent years we have seen the influence of the feminine energy on earth which for eons has been dominated by the male energy.

So it makes complete sense to me that we are witness to so much destruction on the planet.

We are witness to the destruction of our societies as we know it, breakdown of families, law, politics.

So much of humanity is at war with the 'system', the injustices, and the lack of balance within our society. The homeless, the abused, the forgotten souls, the mental health issues that seem to have become rampant, the rise of Corporate wealth while humanity is trapped in slavery. We have learnt nothing as a humanity over the past how many hundred years?

In order for rebirth, for new growth, a culling needs to take place - hence the energy of the Black Winged Goddess she is both the Destroyer and the Giver of New Life.

We have elected to be here at this time on the planet - despite the suffering we witness or endure - I know at a higher level it is absolutely necessary for real change to take place.

Our world is a very different place to the one we have known - and whilst we have believed we have had a safe and reasonable planet in which to live, the reality is much Evil has existed and people have been brainwashed to the point of being zombies. There has been so much suppression imposed upon humanity even to the extreme of vaccinations and fluoride to our water supply. All of these chemicals act as suppressants to our brain! It has been a deliberate agenda of the existing power on earth. Their agenda has always been to rule, control and suppress the populous.

Humanity is awakening and with this will be uproar, dis - ease, a culling if you like. It is time for humanity to step out of fear and into their true power which is within each and every one of us.

New growth, new beginnings but not before the dismantling of the old - it has to be this way.

These times we are living through were written in history.

So I have created "The Black Winged Goddess" she is available in different styles, inside a Dome with beautiful etched glass or stand alone. She will rotate or can be static.

She is available on MP in the Stand Alone version (rotating) or can be seen in world at my store.

****This POST IS NOT to promote my MP. I will not put my MP link here for this reason. If anyone does not have the money and would like a version of her please send me a notecard in world with your full name and I will happily send one to you. This is NOT about promoting my MP it is about assisting humanity at this time***.

I hope you enjoy and embrace 'The "Black Winged Goddess' and rather be in fear of her - understand she brings 'New Life" but first the old has to die for the new to be born.

How appropriate for a New Year of 2020 fast approaching.

Interestingly and unconsciously I created 4 of these Black Winged Goddesses.

The year 2020 equates to the number 4 in Numerology.

The #4 represents a Universal energy. (see below for a deeper understanding of the #4)

The # 2 - Is the most feminine and often underestimated when it comes to power and strength. She is always gentle, tactful, diplomatic, forgiving and understanding. She likes to keep peace and likes to avoid confrontation. # 2 is the survivor and extremely resilient force. Her shape looks as though she is bent back on a knee with head bowed in humility and service. However when enough pressure is applied to the # 2 energy. Some would perceive her as weak and powerless due to this servitude shape. However never underestimate the power behind #2 because she represents the power (double) #1 who is the all powerful warrior who will shake and destroy no matter what. So #2 brings the balance but never underestimate the power of 2 Energy.

The #4 Energy in more detail

The 4 is without a doubt masculine, reflecting strength and stability. His chief characteristics are dependability, productivity, punctuality and obedience. He is trustworthy, patient, conventional and a traditionalist.

Tend to be rule followers. 4 is the area of sciences, upholding the law (such as Government and the military). The #4 represents Disciplined, systematic, Dependable, Strong. Loyal

Four is the basis of all solid objects. Four points are used in constructing the simplest solid and thus four is the number symbolizing the way of construction. In many religions, four is seen as the number for earth, and representing the four elements, Air Earth, Water and Fire.

At its extreme 4's can tend to overreact to violence.

So 2020 seems to have more challenges ahead and I suspect we will be seeing more uprising across the planet (#2 energy) with totalitarianism (#4 energy) being played out like never before. Perhaps more of what the world has witnessed in Hong Kong this year.

It is as if the two energies Masculine & Feminine are battling against one another. But at the same time, I cannot help but feel and acknowledge UNITY - and this is what I will remain focused upon during the year ahead. We must stand united. We are after all 'one humanity'

We are without doubt living in very challenging times.

May peace be with you!

Nope. It's not originally from Guernsey, one of the Channel Islands, as its name suggests, nor is it from the Cape of South Africa, as is often claimed. But our pretty Lily hails from Japan.

It was first mentioned by Jacques-Philippe Cornut (1606-1651) who saw it flowering in the garden of Jean Morin at Paris on October 7, 1634. He calls it Narcissus japonicus rutilo flore. About a quarter of a century later - in 1657 - the Scottish botanist Robert Morison (1620-1683), who was then working in the botanical gardens at Blois in France, writes that he saw it in the same gardens. Moreover, he relates how this Nerine came by the name 'Guernsey Lily'.

It seems that an East-India Trading Ship - uncertain, he says, whether Dutch or English - returning home from Japan - had been wrecked shortly before 1657 on the snaggy rocks of the Channel Islands near Guernsey. Out spilled those Japanese Lily bulbs only to sprout in bright profusion on Guernsey's sandy coasts. Hence the vernacular name.

It seemed to me unlikely that that ship would have been English if it came from Japan. Since 1641 only the Dutch and Chinese were allowed to trade with Japan. So I checked the records I could for shipwrecks of Dutch ships plying from Japan to Europe on the Guernsey Coast until 1660. It would have been nice to find one... But none...

That our Lily also grows in South Africa is not strange for it's by way of the Cape that many Dutch East Indiamen rerturned home from Japan; in these years of the seventeenth century some six or seven laded ships a year.

I could probably best relate to this as the equivalent of giving your little brother an unplugged video game remote and acting like he's the one who's good at the game.

Probably in an event to keep me more engaged in the US rail scene than I was at the time (looking back 2 months later makes me realise how none of this can be recreated back home), the R'bauers assigned me to choose somewhere for this coal train we were pretty sure was close by.

A quick geeze at Sun Seeker and Google Maps, trying to pinpoint where the late afternoon shadows won't have covered the BNSF Fallbridge Sub. Came to the conclusion that John Day Dam Road may be the best bet.

Up a hill and only a few minutes later, I could see the microscopic coal wagons at Towal moving. An excited shout to the R'bauers, and this bad boy rolls by a few minutes later.

Specifically, a coal train from Spring Creek mine in Montana to the Centralia Power Plant in Washington. From what Lewis' notes lead me to believe, this power station is scheduled for closure later in the year.

I have a little bitty obsession with apples. I love relating fruit to the human form. I was especially thrilled when we got to shooting this that the model here, Christopher, had freckles that mimicked the shape of the apples so well. I had fun enhancing them, tehe!....ahhh, wonderful surprises!

Here is a behind the scenes video of this shoot...sort of bad quality, an impromptu thing as we were there to shoot/film a different photoshoot, which i'll be posting the result of later!

There is nobody in the world who knows so many stories as Ole-Luk-Oie, or who can relate them so nicely. In the evening, while the children are seated at the table or in their little chairs, he comes up the stairs very softly, for he walks in his socks, then he opens the doors without the slightest noise, and throws a small quantity of very fine dust in their eyes, just enough to prevent them from keeping them open, and so they do not see him. Then he creeps behind them, and blows softly upon their necks, till their heads begin to droop. But Ole-Luk-Oie does not wish to hurt them, for he is very fond of children, and only wants them to be quiet that he may relate to them pretty stories, and they never are quiet until they are in bed and asleep. As soon as they are asleep, Ole-Luk-Oie seats himself upon the bed. He is nicely dressed; his coat is made of silken stuff; it is impossible to say of what color, for it changes from green to red, and from red to blue as he turns from side to side. Under each arm he carries an umbrella; one of them, with pictures on the inside, he spreads over the good children, and then they dream the most beautiful stories the whole night. But the other umbrella has no pictures, and this he holds over the naughty children so that they sleep heavily, and wake in the morning without having dreamed at all.

This is the most prominent, busiest and popular side of Grand Canal. This part of the Rialto bridge is normally full of people all day long. Except if you go for sunrise/dawn; you will find the place for yourself. This evening was not an exception. As I had prior experience of what to expect, I went prepared and went early so that I have time to get the right spot and setup things properly. Setting up a tripod here is close to impossible. So I kept my little pocket tripod with me. It is a bit tough to setup, but it is pretty stable unlike most pocket tripods. It is ruggedly build solid aluminium and has a payload of 8 KG; which is very good for any DSLR. As long as there is a right base to set it up; it is good to go. So I took my time to set it up and then it was all about wait for the right moment to click.

Yet again the mobile photographers were real pain with people almost stretching their arm in front of the camera and even using flash to lit up Venice!!! I had to be very careful and kept the camera strap all the time on my neck as those super excited mobile photographers could anytime hit the camera to send it into the river. I wish there was no mobile camera invented and I wish we were still in the film world where photography was so hard that it was out of reach for most of the people. In modern world, specially with the mobile camera, serious photography is becoming more and more difficult. Specially at the popular places.

However; I am happy as long as people respect others. But unfortunately many mobile photographers have no respect of others and they are mostly unaware of photography. So probably they unknowingly put their arm in front of someone's long exposure without knowing that a camera can capture an image for several seconds. For them, it is just one click. At the same time, the flash is probably also unintentional as the mobiles are in auto and the flash triggers automatically. Many users of the mobile camera don't bother finding out how to switch that off.

Finally when I managed to capture one decent shot, I was super happy as I almost lost my hope. I immediately got out of there leaving rest of the people to fight with their mobile. It was a great relief.

At the end the image was all right and I did manage to capture some of the movements on the water. Even though I wanted a bit longer exposure. It was impossible in that circumstance. So I will content myself with this.

I have read a lot about Venice becoming over crowded. I can relate to it. I visited Venice few times with intervals of some years and indeed; this time I experienced the worse. Many tourists not respectful of the fragile situation of Venice. Throwing garbage all over the place. Throwing bottles into the water. It was a sad scene to experience in this amazing historic city. That is why I liked the dawn photography more. As I could enjoy the calmness with no one around and I could explore the corners at my own pace without any chaos.
