This is installment number 2 of the Billy Joel collection. It's amazing how Billy captured every day scenarios that anyone can relate to.
This song is dedicated to everyone that is being told what is best for them or that they are doing something wrong.
It's important to have strong convictions and stay true to yourself. While it's great to receive advice from others, ultimately it's up to you to make your own decisions in order to achieve true happiness. Failure to do so can lead to feelings of regret, which can be a burden to bear on your own. It's crucial to follow your dreams and pursue your passions in life, as this is the surest way to live a fulfilling and satisfying life.

Lyrics
Got a call from an old friend we used to be real close
Said he couldn't go on the American way
Closed the shop, sold a house, bought a ticket to the west coast
Now he gives them a stand-up routine in L.A.
I don't need you to worry for me 'cause I'm alright
I don't want you to tell me it's time to come home
I don't care what you say anymore this is my life
Go ahead with your own life leave me alone
I never said you had to offer me a second chance
(I never said you had to)
I never said I was a victim of circumstance
(I never said)
I still belong (still belong)
Don't get me wrong (don't get me wrong)
You can speak your mind but not on my time
They will tell you you can't sleep alone in a strange place
Then they'll tell you you can't sleep with somebody else
Oh, but sooner or later you sleep in your own space
Either way it's okay, you wake up with yourself
I don't need you to worry for me 'cause I'm alright
I don't want you to tell me it's time to come home
I don't care what you say anymore this is my life
Go ahead with your own life leave me alone
I never said you had to offer me a second chance
(I never said you had to)
I never said I was a victim of circumstance
(Gf circumstance)
I still belong (still belong)
Don't get me wrong (don't get me wrong)
You can speak your mind but not on my time
I don't care what you say anymore this is my life
Go ahead with your own life leave me alone
Ambience and ambiance are different spellings of the same word, referring to the special atmosphere or mood of a particular environment. While some dictionaries list ambiance as the standard spelling, ambience is far more common in all main 21st-century varieties of English. It’s worth noting, though, that ambiance tends to take precedence in contexts relating to art and design, but this is by no means a rule, and exceptions abound.
This open-air museum spans the Torre peninsula, Punta Herminia, O Acoroado and Cabal de Pradeira, over 47 ha, that is, occupying part of the limits of the area around the Tower (core zone). The sculptures are distributed in the green space that surrounds the Tower, in a very suggestive game of perspectives and in permanent dialogue with the monument itself. The theme chosen by the artists can be arranged around several thematic tracks:
The mythological stories that link the foundation of the Tower with Hercules himself or with the Celtic leader Breogán, whom 19th century historiography relates to the origin of the monument itself.
References to the world of the sea, navigation and routes, which tell us about that seafaring vocation that appears intrinsically linked to the past of the Galician people since the beginning of its history.
In this sculptural space, a series of pre-existing elements have been integrated, which are explained within their historical context by means of informative panels that spread the value they have within this place. Among them we can highlight: Monte dos Bicos, the Moro Cemetery and the beacons that help navigation. (Source: www.torredeherculesacoruna.com)

The Mists of Avalon is a 1983 historical fantasy novel by American writer Marion Zimmer Bradley, in which the author relates the Arthurian legends from the perspective of the female characters. The book follows the trajectory of Morgaine (Morgan le Fay), a priestess fighting to save her Celtic religion in a country where Christianity threatens to destroy the pagan way of life. The epic is focused on the lives of Morgaine, Gwenhwyfar (Guinevere), Viviane, Morgause, Igraine and other women of the Arthurian legend.

Still pulling through a slow order, WAPO is seen approaching the Penney Road overpass on a beautiful fall morning behind CSX C40-8 9280. I'm sure GSP can relate, but this spot has become horribly overgrown in recent years, the only slight consolation being the nice burst of fall colors that it brings.
Let's all think back on what brought us here
This is my grasp on what is real
Don't tell me how I feel
With all that's passed I can't relate
With myself from day to day
why does everything seem so far away
to me
There's no turning back from here
I've got to get away from everyone who's left
Everyone who's left
I'll tell the saddest story
Of how we made it through this past year
(Past year, past year...)
I'll tell the saddest story
Of how we made it through this past year
(Past year, past year...)
They said we'd walk away
You'll never make it if you can't speak for yourself
they said we'd fade away
We've all been down this path before
You're trapped in this town
And it wears you down
When we leave today then maybe you'll understand
This constant struggle isn't always in the palm of my hand

After the Ascent, recharging at Mount Sinai. A Resting Place for Wandering Souls
A striking moment of rest against a backdrop of ancient history, in a rugged, sun-drenched landscape.
Three people and a dog are seen relaxing on a large, flat rock surface. Backpacks suggest they are travelers or hikers.
The low-angle shot places the resting figures in the immediate foreground. This creates a personal, relatable "human element" that contrasts with the massive, centuries-old stone walls of the monastery.
The figures and the dog resting in the foreground add a contemporary narrative to the historic site, suggesting the physical exertion involved in visiting or hiking the nearby trails like the Saint Catherine Trail.
The impressive, high stone walls of the monastery are visible, constructed from local stone that blends with the natural environment. Some green shrubbery lines the base of theSteep, barren mountains dominate the background, rising sharply against a clear blue sky.
The composition uses the large rock in the foreground to lead the viewer's eye towards the monastery and the mountains.
The placement of the subjects (people and dog) in the lower right provides a sense of scale and human presence within the vast landscape.
The strong diagonal line created by the monastery wall adds depth and structure to the image.
The image is dominated by warm, earthy tones—the reddish-brown stone of the monastery and the surrounding mountains—which are complemented by the vibrant, clear blue of the desert sky.
The scene is brightly lit by a high sun, creating strong contrasts and deep shadows.
The bright sunlight suggests a warm, clear day, typical of the Sinai Peninsula.
The overall mood is one of quiet contemplation and natural beauty, highlighting the isolation and historical significance of the location.
The monastery is a formidable fortress-like structure situated in a stark landscape characterized by parched red mountains and rocky outcrops under a clear blue sky.
It is a major destination for both tourists and pilgrims, many of whom combine a visit with a hike up Mount Sinai to witness the sunrise.
The bearded vulture (Gypaetus barbatus), also known as the lammergeier or ossifrage, is a bird of prey.
The acid concentration of the bearded vulture stomach has been estimated to be of pH about 1 and large bones will be digested in about 24 hours, aided by slow mixing/churning of the stomach content. The high fat content of bone marrow makes the net energy value of bone almost as good as that of muscle, even if bone is less completely digested. A skeleton left on a mountain will dehydrate and become protected from bacterial degradation and the bearded vulture can return to consume the remainder of a carcass even months after the soft parts have been consumed by other animals, larvae and bacteria.
Like other vultures it is a scavenger, feeding mostly on the remains of dead animals. It usually disdains the actual meat, however, and lives on a diet that is typically 85–90% bone marrow. This is the only living bird species that specializes in feeding on marrow. The bearded vulture can swallow whole or bite through brittle bones up to the size of a lamb's femur and its powerful digestive system quickly dissolves even large pieces. The bearded vulture has learned to crack bones too large to be swallowed by carrying them in flight to a height of 50–150 m (160–490 ft) above the ground and then dropping them onto rocks below, which smashes them into smaller pieces and exposes the nutritious marrow. They can fly with bones up to 10 cm (3.9 in) in diameter and weighing over 4 kg (8.8 lb), or nearly equal to their own weight. After dropping the large bones, the bearded vulture spirals or glides down to inspect them and may repeat the act if the bone is not sufficiently cracked. This learned skill requires extensive practice by immature birds and takes up to seven years to master. Its old name of ossifrage ("bone breaker") relates to this habit. More seldom, these birds have been observed to try to break bones (usually of a medium size) by hammering them with their bill directly into rocks while perched. During the breeding season they feed mainly on carrion. They prefer limbs of sheep and other small mammals and they carry the food to the nest unlike other vultures which feed their young by regurgitation.
Live prey is sometimes attacked by the bearded vulture, with perhaps greater regularity than any other vulture. Among these, tortoises seem to be especially favored depending on their local abundance. Tortoises preyed on may be nearly as heavy as the preying vulture. When killing tortoise, bearded vultures also fly to some height and drop them to crack open the bulky reptiles' hard shells. Golden eagles have been observed to kill tortoises in the same way. Other live animals, up to nearly their own size, have been observed to be predaciously seized and dropped in flight. Among these are rock hyraxes, hares, marmots and, in one case, a 62 cm (24 in) long monitor lizard. Larger animals have been known to be attacked by bearded vultures, including ibex, Capra goats, Chamois and Steenbok. These animals have been killed by being surprised by the large birds and battered with wings until they fall off precipitous rocky edges to their deaths; although in some cases these may be accidental killings when both the vulture and the mammal surprise each other. Many large animals killed by bearded vultures are unsteady young, or have appeared sickly or obviously injured. Humans have been anecdotally reported to have been killed in the same way. However, this is unconfirmed and, if it does happen, most biologists who have studied the birds generally agreed it would be accidental on the part of the vulture. Occasionally smaller ground-dwelling birds, such as partridges and pigeons, have been reported eaten, possibly either as fresh carrion (which is usually ignored by these birds) or killed with beating wings by the vulture. While foraging for bones or live prey while in flight, bearded vultures fly fairly low over the rocky ground, staying around 2 to 4 m (6.6 to 13.1 ft) high. Occasionally, breeding pairs may forage and hunt together. In the Ethiopian Highlands, bearded vultures have adapted to living largely off human refuse.

On a recent trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota, my brother and I spent some time rock climbing and hiking in Spearfish Canyon.
Spending time in the outdoors has always held a revitalizing, healing power for me, and I think many people can relate to this.
The sweet, spicy smell of pine, the sound of a gentle wind seething through pine needles, the steady white-noise of river-rapids, the lazy, afternoon sun warning my skin, and a silence unbroken by the the incessant clamor of the city; I breathe deep, calm my mind, and feel connected to Nature, to Earth, to the Universe.
To anyone who reads this, I hope you take the time yourself to "get away from it all" and find refreshment and perspective in your life through the healing power that Nature holds. I'll leave you with a poem suggestion that sums up these feelings, and after which I titled this photo: Thanatopsis, by William Cullen Bryant. Granted, it's a bit trite and cloying at times, but I like it. Oh, and Willam was only 17 when he wrote it, so give the young romantic a little credit.
Thanks to Karen McQuilkin for suggesting and providing a link to a reading of the poem!

While in Frenchman's Cove on Saturday, I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Pennell (foreground) and Mr. Hackett as they prepared their lobster pots for the upcoming lobster season in Nfld, which starts in late April. They expressed concern over the rising price of fuel (I can relate), the expected low market prices for lobster, and the pack ice conditions in the gulf....regardless, nothing could dampen their spirits about a successful lobster season as they were overjoyed with the wonderful spring conditions in Western Newfoundland on this day. Two colourful characters with delightful outlooks on life..a lot can be learned from these two gentlemen.
The Swiss Way relates the history of Switzerland surrounded by a scenic landscape. The trail was constructed as a joint project of the cantons on the occasion of the 700th anniversary celebrations of the Confederation (1291-1991). It begins on the Rütli Meadow, where the Confederation was founded, and ends in Brunnen in the Swiss Expatriates Square (Platz der Auslandschweizer).
Entropy is a physical property of one system that relates to its degree of disorder. It is a concept I came across when at university, and I confess I had much trouble grasping it. The second principle of thermodynamics -- which Einstein considered to be the first law of all sciences -- states, in very simple terms, that unless you do something (some work is produced) systems will always get more and more disorganised.
I now see it everywhere....

It relates to 18th Century. As of the time of transfer to the museum, the house was the oldest in the village and belonged to Oros family. The house has two premises: house and mudroom. It is one of the most ancient types of house planning in Zakarpattia. Walls of the house are constructed with wide oak cut blocks. Its high four-sloping roof is covered with straw.
This house is the oldest Zakarpattia house in our museum. It displays specific features of national building in valley of Tereblia-river and the middle reaches of Tysa River. The house’s area is 35.4 square meters.

"The rooster is a symbol of vigilance and activity. For this reason it is found in ancient monuments among the attributes of Minerva and Mercury. It also indicates combat and victory, because it prefers to die than give in. It immolated itself on the lares and on Priapus. It was also offered to Aesculapius for the healing of the sick. Mercurialis relates that, having addressed to this god a blind soldier named Valerius Aper to recover his sight, the god replied that it was necessary to take the blood of a white rooster, make eye drops with honey and rubbed his eyes with it three consecutive days. The soldier obeyed, healed and publicly thanked the god. Perhaps for this reason, says Mercurialis, the ancients have represented Aesculapius with a rooster on his fist. The statues of Bacchus They sometimes represent him with a rooster at his feet because he was sacrificed for the conservation of the vineyard. The Gauls had taken the rooster on their banners; it may be the cause of the Latin misunderstanding of his name and. The French have long held it as an emblem."(wikipedia)
(wikipedia)
The River Ver in Hertfordshire is a chalk stream and has cut, modestly I should say, into the surrounding limestone - just enough to create a path through the Chiltern Hills, and enough for the Romans to build a road here connecting London with the North. The history of the village of Markyate is entirely shaped by this road (and its successors) and all the functions relating to the transport of goods and people. Some houses such as these ones in the foreground have crept up the flanks of the river ("Pickford Hill" in this case), but most stayed down in the valley ground. Up on the hills you would find farms and agriculture. It is also true that small industries have moved in - together with lots of interesting people who decided to leave the big city.
Sânziene, is an annual festival in the fairies' honor. Etymologically, the name comes from the Latin Sancta Diana, the Roman goddess of the hunt and moon, also celebrated in Roman Dacia (ancient Romania)
People in the western Carpathian Mountains celebrate the Sânziene holiday annually, on June 24. This is similar to the Swedish Midsummer holiday, and is believed to be a pagan celebration of the summer solstice in June. According to the official position of the Romanian Orthodox Church, the customs actually relate to the celebration of Saint John the Baptist's Nativity, which also happens on June 24.
Some people can subconsciously prevent you from becoming your best self.
Everything you do in this life- where you go, what you say, what you do and who you do it with is the result of your thoughts.
A big reason people fight is because people identify with their thoughts. When we were growing up, most of us believed that thoughts come from the inside. We thought that they were innately a part of us and that we *are* our thoughts. We started building our whole identities around our own little internal monologues.
And the bigger the idea, the more of your identity it represents. This is why politics and religion are such hotly debated topics, because they're such big ideas. If I say your political idea is a bad idea, and you base your identity on that idea, then effectively what you're hearing is that I'm calling you a bad person. You think that I'm attacking you, not the idea.
Something that might be even more common is that people just straight up attack the individual as a proxy for attacking that person's idea.
Somewhere along the way, a few people started realizing they had it all wrong.
In practice, a much better way to think about it is that the universe has an infinite number of streams of thoughts, so to speak, that our brains can kind of tap into like different radio stations. With this analogy, we no longer have to view ourselves as a series of thoughts but rather as an empty vessel by which thoughts pass through. Now we're like the DJ of a radio station, not the individual song. The self is merely an observer. It was this distinction that sparked one of the most famous philosophical debates of all time, which is, I think therefore I am versus I *do* therefore I am.
Spolier alert, you should pick the latter.
In this analogy, the self is determined by our ability to pick and choose different ideas from different streams of thoughts and combine them to form new ideas. Sort of like picking ingredients to make a sandwich.
This is different from the first paradigm, in which we would just take everything from the same stream and hope that the sandwich turns out good anyways.
Therapists know that this works, that's why when people come in complaining about depression, they're told to use the term "negative intrusive thoughts".
The idea is actually pretty simple. If you don't take ownership of the idea and instead you assign a label to it, then you can categorize it as something that life just happened to send your way but something that you're also allowed to throw away. You don't have to hold on to it because it's not actually a part of you. It's just a shitty song on the radio station.
So how does this all relate to other people holding you back?
To be continued..
