Had a great girls' night out last night with some great friends. We had a pj party at my friend, Nancy's house. It was a great time!! On the way home this morning, I ran a couple of errands, stopped for a cup of coffee and to take my SP for the day. Housework and yoga are on the agenda for the rest of the day. Hope everyone had a great weekend!
Now that it's all said and done,
I can't believe you were the one
To build me up and tear me down,
Like an old abandoned house.
What you said when you left
Just left me cold and out of breath.
I fell too far, was in way too deep.
Guess I let you get the best of me.
Well, I never saw it coming.
I should've started running
A long, long time ago.
And I never thought I'd doubt you,
I'm better off without you
More than you, more than you know.
I'm slowly getting closure.
I guess it's really over.
I'm finally getting better.
And now I'm picking up the pieces.
I'm spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together.
'Cause the day I thought I'd never get through,
I got over you.
You took a hammer to these walls,
Dragged the memories down the hall,
Packed your bags and walked away.
There was nothing I could say.
And when you slammed the front door shut,
A lot of others opened up,
So did my eyes so I could see
That you never were the best for me.
Well, I never saw it coming.
I should've started running
A long, long time ago.
And I never thought I'd doubt you,
I'm better off without you
More than you, more than you know.
I'm slowly getting closure.
I guess it's really over.
I'm finally getting better.
And now I'm picking up the pieces.
I'm spending all of these years
Putting my heart back together.
'Cause the day I thought I'd never get through,
I got over you.
Well, I never saw it coming.

Eeek, sorry for the very late upload! It doesn't count as tomorrow if I haven't gone to sleep yet, right? Today was incredibly busy but filled with good times. I had woken up feeling terrible, but Kelsey coaxed me out of the house with the proposition of crepes and coffee. We got our coffee (but not the crepes) and talked, then went out for a shoot in this amazing location. It's a spot we've seen before, but today it just looked so magical that we had to venture. Not entirely sure if we were technically on someone's property, but we didn't get yelled at, sooo... After shooting, I went Xmas shopping with my mum, and then to a friend's to have a long and amazing conversation about the nature of the world and how we control the little parts of it that we have. This whole day has been about reflections. Every person I've talked to, and every thought I've had, has been a reflection or a search for meaning. I wanted to shoot something that would, you know, actually have a reflection in it, but I couldn't really figure one out. Perhaps in the future.
Placed the camera against the shop window so I could get the reflection of the pillars outside the shop...

The Capitol Reflecting Pool is a reflecting pool in Washington, D.C., United States. It lies to the west of the United States Capitol and is the westernmost element of the Capitol grounds. The Capitol Dome and the Ulysses S. Grant Memorial are reflected in its waters.
Used a 10-stop ND filter around sunset to extend the exposure out to 15 seconds and make the water smooth.
The sun reflected in the river and from the car roof... I had to use the car as a tripod because the wind was blowing cold and I couldnt keep the camera still!! LOL
How many pairs can you see Large On Black kids? ;-)
New one for the Reflecting series. And I so nearly overlooked this one too - as I accidentally took it in B&W. [Oops!] But, as it turns out, it might actually be a personal favourite... with all the subtle pairs appearing throughout the image. : )
Just not maybe the feet you were thinking! An awesomely long bench at the train station. Loved the reflections, though they didn't come out as strong as I hoped.
Happy Worm's Eye View!
This is a capture of the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, DC. If you've ever seen it, you know how powerful it is to see the whole of it, and how many names it contains.
This shot particularly moved me, looking at the little guys who were exploring the memorial with their families, and how vibrant and full of life they were, and how they were being reflected in the names of those who had gone before.

My wife reflecting over a cup of joe. No pixel editing involved. Just a full cup of coffee and a couple of light sources along with a willing subject to contemplate life while enjoying one of life's great pleasures.
Enduneh & khalium (waterpipes and water melons) reflected in a pool under colored neonlights, I found it an interesting topic, then Hossein Mosaferi found the best angle to catch the reflections.

The Palais de la Nation in Brussels was built in 1779 to house the Council of Brabant, and is to be found in the central path of the Parc de Bruxelles or Warandepark. It was beautifully restored in 1883 after a fire, and is now the seat of Belgium's House of Representatives and the Senate.

The National Trust's Calke Abbey. Also known as the The un-stately home and country estate. It is set in 600 acres of countryside and gardens, stables and outbuildings, and of course the main historic building, Calke Abbey in the glorious Derbyshire Countryside. It's a Grade I Listed Country House. The site was an Augustinian priory from the 12th century until its dissolution by Henry VIII. It dates back to 1701. It is owned by Harpur Baronets (Harpur and Harpur Crewe Families) The National Trust.
If ever a house deserved a reputation as a time-capsule, it's Calke Abbey. A perfect example of the family's eccentric behaviour is a magnificent state bed, a gift to a family member in 1714. The bed, with embroidered Chinese silk hangings, was never erected but remained in storage. The last family residents of Calke Abbey became Charles, and then Henry and Airmyne Harpur-Crewe. None of the three children married and the National Trust took over the property in 1984/5.
How old is the old man of Calke Abbey? Now known as the Old Man of Calke, this ancient oak is over 1,000 years old, but still continues to grows healthily.
Today, the National Trust's Calke Abbey is preserved, not restored. So you get to see it as it was left by its previous owners.
