This Salvos store was the closest to my house, and one of my favorite thrift locations.

Some dick burnt it down the other day :( So I was planning to actually go into the wreckage, wearing my most favourite purchase from there (that red dress). I came, they had put up a fence. :(

Macaws are beautiful, brilliantly colored members of the parrot family.

Many macaws have vibrant plumage. The coloring is suited to life in Central and South American rain forests, with their green canopies and colorful fruits and flowers. The birds boast large, powerful beaks that easily crack nuts and seeds, while their dry, scaly tongues have a bone inside them that makes them an effective tool for tapping into fruits.

Macaws also have gripping toes that they use to latch onto branches and to grab, hold, and examine items. The birds sport graceful tails that are typically very long.

My backyard Maple Tree has become the caching spot for a pair of backyard Red-headed Woodpeckers. The birds are stashing seeds in a crevice on a tree branch. The birds fly over to the feeder, grab a seed or two and then fly back to the branch to eat the seeds and keep a few in there for later. What a treat to watch this nature show going on right before my eyes in my backyard.

"Artists can color the sky red because they know it's blue. Those of us who aren't artists must color things the way they really are or people might think we're stupid."

~ Jules Feiffer ~

Do you suppose barns would be painted blue if the sky really were red???

I am glad I got this shot as the Red Zone Tours have now changed to the Re-build Tours! Because there isn't any more Red Zone areas now. Christchurch July 1, 2013, New Zealand.

American Red Squirrel (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus), at Chena Hot Springs on a bit of old machinery with some bicycles in the background.

The red squirrel makes itself quite conspicuous with its lively habits and noisy chatter. Cone cuttings on stumps or rocks are common and tracks in snow are numerous where this squirrel occurs. It can be found in spruce forests over most of Alaska and has a wide range in North America. It occupies a wide variety of forest habitat, occurring in the hardwood forests of eastern North America and the coniferous forests of the west and north.

This is a non-HDR project. I did take different exposures for HDR shots, but in the end I decided to go with a regular version. I did make some edits in Lightroom and Photoshop to bring out the colors in the scene.

I was there with my cousin and friend who is the 350z owner. The place was really dirty with dust and there were some janitors with hoses and wipers but they weren't really doing anything. So we gave them some encouragement and they ended up cleaning that part of the parking lot level. During the whole shoot the janitors and security guards were watching us as we set up our gear and the car. Surprisingly enough the guards were quite helpful and didn't bother us at all. Unlike some other experiences I've had in similar lots before.

Northumberland Red Squirrel - Winter coat

This is a home for elder people. I think the architects picked the red to make everything look more colorful than it really is.

In 2005 i spent a week there, i had to help the nurses in their everyday job. All my other classmates were on a trip to Poland. I had to write about my experiences in this home and what i now know for sure is that i'd rather be dead than spending my last old days there, looking through the window and waiting to be fed, playing Bingo and listening to old songs, painting and drawing, listening to the nurses speaking like a school teacher to little kids.

It's more like a prison, those homes... :(

I do like the exterior of the building though :)

PS: it's the first photo i add to the Fav/view:5% group. Let's just say maths is not my favorite subject :)
