At Glen Bay, St Kilda a red necked phalarope was foraging in some pools on the island of Hirta in the St Kilda archpeligo, off Scotland. I spent several days on the islands of St Kilda in July 2018. I was photographing sights in the derelict village on the island as well as local wildlife. I was able to photograph this female foraging in a pool my Canon 70D and Canon 100-400 mk2 in the light before sunset. Unfortunately there was a huge number of midges making conditions very difficult. This was one of at least one breeding pair on the island.

I'm so stuck for ideas for photos I've had to resort to taking photos of cushions, lol! But red is my favourite colour and I'm rather proud of my new red cushions in our living room - I'm veering away from the orange and blue theme a little! The large (and they are a little bit too big) tartan cushions came from Matalan, the smaller tartan ones from Tesco and the plain red came from a charity shop! There is less room to sit now, but I think they look rather nice together!!
I would love to find one of those red tail feathers one day!
Two days after taking this photo, I found a tail feather. My wish came true!
Taken at an Exposure Cleveland photowalk late last summer. Although it was another blue sky, sunny day...heavy rains and strong storms rolled through shortly after snapping this photo.
Tone mapped a single RAW file in Photomatix, colors de-saturated, and added a slight vintage action in Photoshop.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day!
